First off, this thread isnt here to start fights...

Okay, So I've had a couple of agruments about the topic of paintball and whether it was a sport or not... I think it is, I mean It has 2 teams working together, an objective and takes skill to be good at.

I've had peoplealso agrue that it's not a sport, doesnt take any skill, and it's not in the olympics, therefore not being a sport...

Just wondering what you guys think?
Paintball, Sport or Activity?

Ya I think it's a sport. Maybe not an Olympic sport, but a sport none the less. After all, ESPN airs bowlinghttp://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif

It's a sport, give a gun to the people that said it doesn't take skill and let's see what they can do. Is video gaming a sport ? They were thinking of putting that on the olympics, google it :p

I dont see why it wouldnt be considered a sport.

An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment

That about sums it up.

I personally think this will be a one sided thread.

I can't think of one valid reason why it wouldn't be a sport

I asked around school: about half the people agree, the others think it's an activity or hobby. Well we'll teach them by showering paintballs at them ! :p

If Olympic coin flipping is a sport, then so is Paintball.

It meets the "Scientific Definition" of sport.

That's not even the worst of it. Cup stacking is actually considered a sport now...

I found this on wikipedia, and thought they were cool facts....

Insurance statistics show that paintball is one of the safest sports in existence, safer even than golf.

When safety rules are followed, paintball is extremely safe, with an injury rate of only 0.2 injuries per 1,000 exposures. Injury rates for other common team sports are much higher, including 12 times as high for soccer (2.4 injuries per 1,000 exposures) and 7 times as high for baseball (1.4 injuries per 1,000 exposures). Put another way, a player who plays paintball twice a week would expect to sustain an injury approximately every 10 years. Paintball has also been said to be even safer than golf or bowling.

Nonetheless, it's still a sport

even though it takes minimal exercise, if executed correctly, like on a obstacle course it can be VERY exhausting and fun

Did you really need to bring up a thread that was more than half a year old just to tell us about how it convinced your friends to play paintball...

The way I see it, if Baseball is a sport, Paintball is too.

At least his post wasn't spam...

I think having rules against bumping topics like these are foolish, as the date of the topic has nothing to do with the topic itself. An example of a thread that shouldn't be bumped, in my opinion, is a thread made a year ago with someone saying "I finally beat my first game!!!", as it is probably outdated. A new thread for this topic could've been made, but from my experiences, the new thread would be locked, and a mod would say to search, or something along those lines...
