Australia, November 27, 2008 - F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (http://ps3.ign.com/objects/812/812588.html), Monolith's sequel to the much-loved horror shooter, F.E.A.R., has been refused classification by the Australian Classifications Board, formerly known as the OFLC. The ACB banned F.E.A.R. 2 over what it claims is 'high violence' in its content.

IGN Spoke with Warner Interactive Australia earlier today to source further details on the situation. According to a representative from the distributor, "Warner is actively working through the appeal system with the ACB and is exhausting all options. We are doing all we can to get F.E.A.R. 2 released in the AU market."

The game, which is slated for release on February 11 in Australia, is still far enough off that there is hope the game will make it through the appeals process and onto shelves unmodified in our region - though, Warner was unwilling to comment officially on this portion of the matter.

What game isn't banned in Australia?

That sucks... I am actually really looking forward to this game though.

As an Australian I am sick of decent games getting banned or toned down because or classification system is too stupid to give us an R18+ rating. I mean the thing with Fallout 3 was stupid. One of the guys who was a key player in almost banning the game due to drug references is something like the governer of South Australia - where it is LEGAL to smoke POT and have your own marijuana plants. I think all Aussies are fed up of this.

And that is my rant :)

Quite strange considering how violent some there films are. Why not tone the violence down or just cut the blood out?
