These are the very first sigs i've made.

I'd like you all to criticise anything that you see is wrong, just so I realise and don't make the same mistakes.

And I cut the renders myself. Hence the AWESOME quality ;)

No point in making 25 shitty ones lol. Just 3 shitty ones will do for now :p

I've made one using a tutorial for blending, smudging and bg's...

They aren't bad for your first signature. I am no expert but i have picked up a few tips.
- Your renders need to be blended much more into your sig, try looking for tutorials.
- Like mine, your text is too much of a focal point, blend it more into the background.
- Try and vary your backgrounds with other brushes instead of using the same ones.

You can check out my gallery and there is some tips from Night and Seedy, they might help.

Hmm, d'you think making the text 50%-75% transparent will do the trick? I tried blending the last one but it just looks smudged.

I need to get used to blending I guess :(

Yeah lol, I only downloaded a few from deviantart.
I'll take a look at yours now. Thanks for the reply :D

The 1st one?
I did a dark red/orange gradient.
Then used fractal brushes (Dark red on the orange side. Orange on the Red side)

I got brushes from this http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/applications/gimpbrushes/?order=5&offset=24#order=9
:p

I don't usually change the text opacity but put the layer on overlay and replicate until it looks good, that gives a really good effect.
For blending just smudge the edges slightly on the bottom.

Some good work. Just some quick crits
-Your Captain America one seems a bit faded. Perhaps if the colours on ol' CA were a bit bolder so he stood out from the background
-The deathnote would be good apart from the fact that his wings are cut off. Try some smudging/blending at the edges so it's not so obvious.
Keep it up
