View Full Version : Finally got 200/200, thanks guys!

With the info i found here and the Hexic.info site. I got the Pooh-Bah last night, about a week after i found out about grids.
Just practice a bit until you get the feel.
I had my master grid setup on level 2 or 3. I built it from the bottom, so no accidents could destroy the grid.
Once i had my grid setup, i moved 4 silver stars to safe spots on the bottom of the grid and i made my black pearls on the top left, destroying 3 stars from my grid.
I moved the black pearl bottom left, and rebuilt the grid with the 4 extra silver stars stored on the bottom. rinse, repeat.
Took me about 6-7 hours because i made 2 accidental stars. First was on the bottom, right in the middle, while moving stuff (too many of the same colors, destroyed 5-8 silver stars once) and had to rebuild. I was pretty tired after that. I was getting pretty tired at the end and made another sick mistake. I rotated the wrong part and made a cluster, destroying 5 silver stars and destroying the right part of my grid.
My only tip: COMPLETE YOUR GRID! I had 5 black pearls earlier this week before getting screwed by a bomb, I wanted to go faster so i destroyed my grid to get black pearls. What a mess!
thanks again for all the info, without it, that would have been impossible.

Congrats! One of the hardest arcade games to 200. I only have a measly 25 I believe.

Congratulations on 200 :) And thanks for the tips... As they say, practice will always make perfect.

Congrats dude. this game is hard to get the full gamerscore.

I didn't even know about the Hexic.info site, I'll have to check that out, I had tried the pattern mentioned in the guide previously, but I got screwed by a bomb, so I gave up with 4 black pearls...maybe I'll give this game another try.

a combo i didn't see always ruins it for me, just after an hour of staring at those colours i slip up. There's NO warning if youre going to make a combo and theres NO go back a move button

that's really awesome, I wish I had 200/200 on here (as many do, I'm sure), I'd stopped playing this game a couple of years ago due to the difficulty, but I just happened to stumble across this forum and see that there's something called a "grid" that I've never known about.... gonna hexic it up now :D... Hope to be one of the dudes with 200/200 on here eventually (then I could die happy) :D

i always managed to completely screw my grids up, so i just did it the hard way :P

I finally got this! Good gawd that was one of the hardest things I've ever done.
I won't repeat the same tips but I'll share how I progressed.
Don't look for the perfect starting board. I found myself staring at the screen like a zombie sometimes. I would make just a few stars then look at the combos used up and then start over for no reason. I didn't even realize I was OCDing but I guess that in my mind I believed I needed 10 stars before level 2 started. The next thing I knew it was two hours later and I still hadn't gotten out of round 1 because I had restarted 30 times. I finally cut that out when I came back to this game after a lengthy break.
My last game took 6 hours and I had 6 stars after round 1. I had a semi-regular 2x3 grid at the top left of the board and I was producing about 1 star every 5 combos in levels 2 and 3.
I stuck to this specific routine until I was done:
1. I concentrated on my grid but only until I had 10 stars total.
2. I immediately made a pearl when I hit 10 stars to minimize mistakes.
3. I used the 4 remaining star-pairs to build up the grid again.
4. I always kept stars parked in non-adjacent columns.
5. Eureka! The grid does not need to be perfect!
In previous games I always got sidetracked by trying to keep the grid perfect and this is mainly what destroyed my progress. Rule #4 above about the columns is more important. Even with two big mistakes I finished slowly but I did finish before level 4 was over.
Good luck and I hope you get it too! It's GREAT to get the Pooh-Bah under my belt!

Congrats! I think I'll try out your advice. I have been in the same mode of starting over repeatedly. I'll try easing back and not worrying about perfection and see if that helps.

Congrats on the 200....I don't think I'll ever fully complete this

GZ! I am currently on 155/200 just need the 3 and 6 black pearls achievements, I can't get my head around the grid thing though.

I finally got 200 on this as well!
I'm so stoked that I was able to put this game to bed, thanks to the guide writers here giving me a new perspective on this old game and giving me the motivation to give it another go.
the key is to just go SLOW SLOW SLOW... over-analyze absolutely every move to make sure you're not going to make an accidental combo. the game lets you exit and return later so I used that to my advantage.
anytime I'd make a mistake or found that I was having a hard time concentrating I'd just exit the game, go play something else for a while and come back the next day.
thanks X360A! :drunk

Congrats on the 200! This game took me well over a year to 100%, it's gotta be one of the hardest to complete ever.
04-23-2010, 03:26 AM
Congrats on 200

I got it too :P

I just got 200/200 yesterday. I got 2.1 mil points in marathon mode which I though was a lot. Then I checked the top 100 scores leaderboard, whats the deal with them? How are these people getting billion point scores. Is there some kind of glitch or something?
04-30-2010, 03:10 AM
I will have to try this. Haven't played this game on my current account yet for fear I would never 200/200 it.

This is absolutely amazing!! My highest esteem to everyone who beats the 200/200 in Hexic HD.
I've acutally watched lots of videos and read through tipps and tricks, but as it seems, practice (and a good portion of luck) brings you the furthest in this game.

I dont know how it's called the method but if you manage to put like 20 stars together you will get a monster score. do it a few times and you'll reach billion points scores.

congratulations to anyone who 200/200 this....I look at the videos on youtube and they make me cry

I'm at 175/200 at the moment and working on the last achievement... I've gotten pretty good at making stars and pearls but I need to learn more about this master grid. Thanks for the website info I'm sure it will be a lot of help.

yeah, bonus stars that you put together and make them all fall at the same time. takes forever to build. it has lots of info on the site about that
