Why isn't this an emote? Typing in the img codes etc every time I want to use it is rather annoying, wouldn't it be easier to implement it as an emote/smiley, so if anyone wanted to use it, they'd only ever have to type:

:gs: <--- this would appear as http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

I did search and couldn't find this previously suggested, so yeah...

This is a nice idea, it'll save time which is always handy. :)

Can't believe people haven't thought of this before. Would be super handy.

Great idea.

Great idea, I support!

A slight branch off would be a dancing G (like the dancing lock), signifying that you unlocked something.

EX: "I just got Mile High Club! (insert dancing gamerscore here)"

A little less practical, but a good addition seeing that this site is a gamerscore site =P.

its a good idea/dumb at the same time. its good because it will be popular and its bad because it will probabily be overused too much in peoples sig and it just looks dumb. so i dont know.

Its a good idea, just a matter of the site admins having the time to get around to it adding it to the forum database. The emote/image would look a lot better than just typing gs.

Very good idea; it'd be a lot more convenient than typing the IMG code in every time you need that picture.

I feel a little redundant saying "Good idea!" but hey, I gotta show my support. That would be a good idea.

Why not just use the text GS instead of using the x360a gamerscore icon?

So I'm going to have to say that having this as an emote will probably never be used often enough to be made priority over a lot of others things to implement on the site. Some of the other current emotes aren't used a lot, and I can see this becoming one of them.

And if you want to use that image (which is rare, unless you're doing guides) don't bother inputting an image BBC code just copy and paste it.

P.S - A gamerscore icon is not a emoticon. Emoticons are meant to display emotion. Not gamerscore right? Maybe that's why a lot of the current emoticons are not used.

Yea, the admins could spend those two minutes doing far more important things. Some of the other current emotes aren't used a lot, and I can see this becoming one of them. What about achievement guides?

And if you want to use that image (which is rare, unless your you're doing guides) don't bother inputting an image BBC code just copy and paste it. Paste it from what url? It'll take a decent amount of time to find that image, copy the link, and put in in IMG tags even once.

P.S - A gamerscore icon is not a emoticon. It's obvious what he means. No point in arguing over something worthless. Emoticons are meant to display emotion. Not gamerscore right? Maybe that's why a lot of the current emoticons are not used.

Anyway, good idea OP. Should definitely be implemented.

I agree with NumberUno. It would really only be useful to those writing guides. However, it IS still a good idea even if it would be rarely used and I'd have to say I support your idea.

It would take less time to implement this than it does just to read the thread, so it's obviously a good idea. Do it already!

Just as an idea to add onto the OP's suggestion, having :b: be http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/b.png and the same for all the other buttons would be nice too.

That would be equally helpful. Definitely needs to be done if at all possible.

I doubt it would be as overused as this damn thing: :drunk

I think this should be done. :D

It would also save character spaces in achievement guides. Instead of having an image with a url of 20+ characters, we can have one with 4.

This thread has gone in many directions; tell me if I'm right

1. GS icon, not emoticon. Basically the gray G in that gray square (by typing :gs: ,it turns into that icon).
2. (My idea) The dancing/ moving GS icon (sort of like the beer guys or the dancing lock) (type in :gsdance: or something like that for this to work).
3. Things like http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/b.png readily available as :b:

If I am right, can you edit your main post to include those, Nath Attack?

i think the gamerscore icon is not needed for a emote.. cause you can just copy it and paste it right away.. try it then.. it works with me.. not sure with yours..

how to.
Copy the icon(ctrl-c)
paste it.. (ctrl-v)

Agreed/Supported.

I made a guide last month for the first time and was shocked that there was no GS emote/icon or even button images. Even Google sucked at finding what I was after and made writing the guide a bit more complicated than expected.
Im sure for expert guide writers, these image locations are already on hand somewhere. But it would be easier for everyone if these common icons where added as an emote.

I just know them by heart. Trying to find them on a guide on the main page is honestly too much of a hassle.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg is http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.jpg

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/b.png (replace b with whatever button you're looking for) is http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/b.png

Adding them would reduce the amount of characters a guide takes up drastically though. As is all of my guides don't use the icon because it burns so many characters.

Having the gamerscore and all the button symbols as emotions would be a nice touch. Especially for those that make guides quite often. When I am posting a message want to use a button symbol it can be annoying having to open up the "Achievement Guides - The Complete Walkthrough" thread to find and copy the image. This would save a everyone a good bit of time. Hope it gets added.

It seems like a sweet idea to me. Sure, there are pros and cons, but what doesn't have one or the other, if not always both? If it helps even one person, it should be implemented; this is a strong community, and helping one another is what this site is really about anyway.

I would have to say this is a good old "Yes". Good idea man.

It could be easier to post those unknown achievement pictures as well as writing guides if this idea is accepted, so I'll say YES to this like the above dude ;)
