what where your scariest moments in fear 2? although i only played 1/3 of the whole campaign i still had some "memorial moments" yet hehe...

some of these where (watch out for mass spoilers):

in level 2 (or 3?!?) you can crawl through a funnel to get a file that contains some information about alma - when you return and want to step out of the fennel alma comes round the corner and just walkes over - goddamn, the whole time after i got the file i was wating for her and just as i thought "haha noting happens here" she appers. whoa man that frightened me A LOT!!

and at the beginning of the fifth level you have this massive head-ache and there's a room with a med kit down some stairs - when you grab it and tourn around alma just stands a few feet away and just stares a couple of secends - man i sh*t my pants!!!

i also had a real shiver at the beginning when the sound of the music box appeared! the secene doesn't scares me but the sound of the box MAN that was so strange :)

sooo what where your scariest moments?!?

The end part of Approach when the tram stops and as you walk forward all the crates lift up and Alma runs towards you really quickly and attacks. Also when I reliased at the end that Alma raped Beckett while he was in the hallucination. He's going to have to pay child benefit now lol.

none were shocking, jumpy or scary:/

But I did like them, I think this game could have been better if it's was like a movie-type of game:/

LOL at the ending:P

The part she runs at you was really really good:) I said to my self "here we go, this is where I battle her", when she starts running towards you.

I"m a little let down that there were none. FEAR and Condemned both had some big scares, but this one had none for me. Great game, though.

man either you guys/gals all have iron nerves or I'm just too easy to scare.
I just can't believe the fact that FEAR 2 didn't make people at least jump once or twice.

I'm in level 5 now and there were 2 things until now that really, really made me jump and gave me a good scare.

the first one was in mission 1 or 2, when I just turned around and there was alma staring at me, gave me the creeps.

second one was at the beginning of lvl. 5 (replica) when you get the radio transmission from snake fist that alma is very close to you.

fuck me, right after his message was over, I pick up a med kit, I turn around, and she just stands there and stares at me again.
after nearly wetting myself, I thought "ok, maybe she's gonna disappear again".
of course not, she's right there until you approach her, then you just see her walking away slowly.

I don't feel like a pussy at all for getting scared and being jumpy during this game and I seriously feel bad for anyone that didn't get scared or didn't yell out a quick "WOAH!" a couple of times.

not getting scared is taking away so much of the atmosphere of this game,
I love being on edge while playing it.

are you guys playing in Surround Sound mode? or with high volume increased?

Cuz I played this in the dark, loud volume enough (but not in surround sound). Never scared me:/

Only d00m 3 did:P

Playing the school late at night was quite scary but I think it comes down to allowing yourself to be scared. There are some scary moments if u get absorbed into the game enough.

haarr yeah this one i mean - excatly :)

and yeah myself plays with surround sound - some cool effects coming up with this - but the sound in dead space was a lot better - you'd feel more "hounted".

just at the moment i'm in the school - until the first remnant nothing really scarry appeared - but when im honest must say that i had a very strange feeling walking through that emptied building...

The elementary school level was the worst. When I say worse, I mean scariest. I mean jesus, I always thought schools were scary at night but damn this level just confirms it. The first time you see the specimens running on the wall it's creepy. And the Specimen chambers where they keep busting out of the chambers and it plays that brief but creepy noise. Also, the bathrooms in the hospital..open all of them. Scary ass shit!!!!!!

I thought the bit where she telekineticly lifts all the boxes then runs at you was sick. That was crazy spooky. Also in the school. When all the locker doors slam towards you. WOOAAAA pooped me pants.

The bit I found really upsetting though was when harlem told the soldiers to move alma and she was really upset at the tree location. That was nasty no wonder she killed those fuckers.

I actually shiver whenever Alma turns up. It's a confusing combination of both terror and - at times - sexual excitement. Or at least it is for me ;)

Apparently FEAR was scarier for me though, FEAR2 have better visuals but it somehow lacks the elements from last time, I wasn't scare a bit for some reasons :p

Not as many scares as the first game, but some parts were very scary. Fear 2 is probably the 2nd scariest game to date next to Fear 1

I jumped on the first and last missions.

The first was after the Pool scene whenever you grab the Armor, you turn around and she greets you warmly.

Last Mission because I was grabbing a piece of Intel only to turn around and one of the Invisible Hunter's comes up and swipes me in the face.

Twas dirty.

The school was very creepy but the part that reall really got me (none of you have mentioned it so I think you might have missed it) in the last chapter after you get off the tram and make your way in to the courtyard with the tree in it. Alma is whispering and when your about in the middle by the tree if you turn around to face the way you came in Alma is behind you creeping towards you. Freaked me the frak out.

I'm onto level 11 and I'm yet to be truely scared by this game. I jumped at a couple of bits when I wasn't expecting something but nothing really scary yet. Sort of disappointing.

This game was a large dissapointment for me. The only time that really scared me was once in the school when u walk into a classroom, and u get teleported to that weird alternate dimension with the tree and alma grabs u... thats it. the only other part i thought was weird was the part in the demo at the school when the lockers fly open and you have to walk down the hallway with the lights flickering and the ghosts running at you. every time the lights flickered it seemed like alma was getting closer to you... i also noticed that alma has like 2 forms. one form is when she is like anorexic and another is when she is just normal. that kinda ruined the scaryness because when she was normal i was just like wow there is a naked woman grabbing me how scary... it kinda turned me on. it also turns me on how alma rapes you at the end and you hear her moaning....

Yes but there’s a big difference between getting cheap scares by making someone jump and really scaring them. I've now finished the game and it didn't do it for me. Dead Space for example really had my scared all the way through, this just felt like a normal FPS.

You kidding me.....Dead Space was absolutely not scary. Cool game, but not scary at all. Nothing haunting about it. Its just aliens!!! Cool game, but far from scary

I agree, it didnt come as frequently as Fear 1. Fear 1 still owns everything. Fear 2 was scary though. Very different from part 1 also. Hopefully Point man makes a return.

Hmmm yea wasn't so scary but I do scare easily. Fear 1 oh crap in the offices after the 2 batches of mech/soldiers. You run past a cubicle and you hear rattling. Look around and Alma freaking runs at you like how the grudge crawls all legs over head and stuff. Urghhh got shivers now!

MR MACLAINE
03-05-2009, 06:38 PM
hmmm i think fear 2 and dead space were very hard to compare... that's a different "style of horror" in dead space the game suggests a constant haunted feeling, everywhere you hear these sound, the aliens screamed the hell out of the ship and you had more "stress" while playing. in fear 2 you are afflicted with these scary mind visions and very, very subtle horror, sometimes alma just walkes a few feet and disappeares... for me both games were absolutly great - in their own special way!

Different people find different things scary. For me Dead Space was probably the scariest game I've ever played, so much so I'm thinking twice about a second playthrough. Like I said this game didn't really do it for me.

The scare factor in this was a bit of a let down. The school level is abit creepy but the only time I'd say I was geniunely scared was later in the game when the train almost runs you over.

i was looking around in some offices early on in the game i think and i turned round and the child version of alma was standing right in my face, i jumped out of my friggin skin and made a rather random noise at the tv, also fired a solitary bullet of panic into her face before she dissapeared lol.

its certainly a lot scarier when ure playing it at night, through surround with the volume and a bit of weed in your system lol.

I had a few good jumps and even a few screams haha. Me and some friends were all playling it and even turned it into a drinking game (drink everytime you jump)

1. This was in the demo, we turned around at some point before the movie theater and Alma was CRAWLING behind us. Sadly though I never saw this in the real game.

2. On the first level on my second playthrough i was rushing and turned around right into little Alma. I didn't rememebr that so it made me jump.

3. The Elementary school, particularly when you're in the dark hallway and Alma is appearing everywhere (recommend running through, makes you jump more as you are most likely to have her appear in your face)

4. When Fox grabs you right before he's killed. My friend was playing and he literally threw the controller at the tv and screamed. He refused to play after that haha:p

5. Being ambushed by an abomination when you least expect it

Silent Hill 2 was an under rated masterpiece. The story was phenomenal, the gameplay was great, and the detail of character lives was impressive. I salute you for having played that game.

Personally, I thought the part where you look through that window and the abomination grabs you and tosses you into the room below was scary, I freaking flipped out and had to turn my light on. XD

Also, near that pool area, if you walk towards the window on the right side then when you get to it, look left, young Alma will be walking towards you. That spooked me.

and for some very odd reason, when she touched your hand to her pregnant stomach, that fuckin creeped me out. I guess that means either, DLC, F.E.A.R. 3 or an expansion. lol

To be honest, was not all that scary to me. I think the original F.E.A.R. was much scarier.

Are you trying to tell that on the level where you walked into a room and the big snake/slug monster grabbed you by the foot and started dragging you away that you weren't scared?

The part where you find the swimming pool in the penthouse. When you step outside onto the balcony to discover that there is nothing outside, like literally nothing...no sky, no world outside...thats far more scary to comprehend than the other cheap thrills the game throws at you!

Yeah, the game wasn't scary to me. Whenever something "scary" was to happen, I knew at that point I wasn't able to be injured and should run towards it to further progress the game.

I think Condemned was a scarier game due to multiple jump scenes of angry people yelling at you and running from the shadows at you.

It was an underaverage FPS, not horrible but not good. I hate the level designers and their freaking pipes

I think the problem with the game was simple. They didn't show off Alma's power like in the first game. She really just appeared, stared at you and left - you knew hat she wouldn't attack you and was therefore not a threat.

I also think theres something wrong with having a powerful gun in a horror game - the fact you can kill everything and your given the perfect tools for the job really takes away from the atmosphere - you, or at least I, didn't feel as though I was being hunted by Alma - add to the fact that half the missions seemed like filler (there was no real purpose) and you've got a poor atmosphere. Its a shame because the graphics and sound are superb but it falls back on cliches way to often for its own good.

The graphics were decent but the blood effect went incredibly over-the-top. It just broke the immersion. Finally, to top it all off - the demo ruined nearly all the potentially scary parts of the game anyway...

I don't remember even jumping...

A rly creepy part for me was in the elementary school. It was the part when you were with your girl teammate (forgot her name) then you have a hallucination and appear seperated from her in alma's old classroom (speculation), or at least a different classroom then you were previously in. And on one of the walls you see a drawing alma made (still speculation) of herself and some other stuff. I know for a fact though that that is alma in the drawing though.

The game wasn't scary at all really. only when the one test subject thing jumps at you for the first time. Nothing compared to some games. including the first. anyway I loved it when the test subject dragged that one guy away and then you turn the corner to see his head going around in the dryer :p

I don't really remember what scared me the most about this game but around every corner I was thinking "What's around there? I'm too scared to find out, I'll go back and see if I missed something" I did jump a few times but people say the first one was scarier, I didn't really see that =/ it had atmosphere but I didn't feel it was that scary.
