View Full Version : What's your favorite childhood game on this game?

02-26-2009, 06:43 PM
I just bought it right now havent opened it yet. I'm just a little curious on what's your favortie childhood game? Has to be on this disk. Thanks for your input. Can't wait to see what you have to say. I'm a little exited about this game. I hope they do this more often sense they stopped putting classic arcade games on the marketplace.

Probably Altered Beast.

Was the first game I owned and completed for the Mega Drive (came bundled with the console). Think I was 10 or 11 when I first got it :)

Played it to death until I completed it and loved every minute. Playing it again now brings back so many cool memories.

Especially hearing "wise fwom your gwave!" once again lol

Since I'm a hardcore rpg gamer my favorite game on this collection as a child would be Beyond Oasis. =)

02-27-2009, 01:35 AM
Sonic (the first one)

02-27-2009, 01:59 AM
SOR3 even though its the same censored version I originally owned all those years ago.Story of Thor is solid too.Dynamite Heady makes me wet and Shinobi 3 has some of the finest game music in history. The end.

02-27-2009, 11:32 AM
SHINING FORCE II - enjoying my run through now as much as i did back then :)

02-27-2009, 01:48 PM
GOLDEN AXE. Just an awesome classic that never seems to get old for me no matter how many thousands of times I play it.

Shining Force (doesn't matter which part)

02-27-2009, 11:09 PM
All the SONIC games and all Streets Of Rage games on the megadrive r classics.
I still enjoy playing them after 25 years.

02-28-2009, 12:56 AM
mine has to be shining force lol it was amazing then and still is now :)

02-28-2009, 12:52 PM
OH MAN..Comix Zone. Without a doubt.. I spend countless hours on that game when I was really young and then I stopped when my console broke. Then it came out on the PC when I was about 11.. I felt EXACTLY the same as I do now lol..

Reunited and it feels soooo good ;)

Streets of Rage 2 without a doubt.

I just wish Flashback was on the disc, did anyone here play that? was totally innovative and revolutrionary for its time back then.

03-01-2009, 05:02 AM
It's a hard choice between Vectorman, Kid Chamelion, Sonic, and Comic Zone

03-01-2009, 05:08 AM
Def. Shining Force.

Never played the other parts of the trilogy.. But the first one was great before.. And still is now. :)

03-01-2009, 07:54 AM
I guess I'll be the first to say Sonic Spinball... only because it was bundled with my first Genesis (late adopter), and that's pretty much all I remember playing.

03-01-2009, 04:18 PM
Vectorman, game is tight and Green? YES!!!

Phantasy Star II, and I can't believe I'm the first to say that.

03-09-2009, 09:31 AM

03-09-2009, 02:49 PM
golden axe warrior

03-09-2009, 10:47 PM
definately shining force 1 and 2

03-09-2009, 11:20 PM
The Sonic games, Streets of Rage and that's about it.

Not all of them have aged well, unfortunately.

03-10-2009, 11:05 PM
defo Altered Beast and the streets of rage... good memorys

03-11-2009, 12:23 AM
Shining Force. Loved it then, love it now.

03-11-2009, 01:36 AM
All the streets of rage, sonic 1 2 and 3, comiczone, vectorman, altered beast and all shinobi games the all rock. Sorta wish they could remake them for todays console

03-13-2009, 06:45 PM
Comix Zone, Vectorman and definitely Streets of Rage....hearing the Streets of Rage intro music damn near made me tear.........Nostalgic stuff....

Shining Force, Shining Force 2, and Comix Zone... hopefully I'll like the Phantasy Stars since I never have had a chance to play them before

03-17-2009, 01:22 PM
I played a lot of Columns when I was younger and it's awesome to be able to play that again. I haven't even scratched the surface of the Sonic titles yet, although I loved them back in the day.

Altered Beast is a surprise, it's pretty crap, whereas I remember it being awesome!

03-20-2009, 08:16 AM
Phantasy Star series, mostly IV, only reason I got this collection :)

Wish they put more games in there and also a collection of 8bit games, as they take 32-512K each (original phantasy star, wonder boy series).

Keywork Groover

Story of Thor and Sonic 3 + Sonic and Knuckles. Its a shame you can't play the full Sonic 3 and Knuckles version and unlock Hyper Sonic. Or play Sonic 2 with Knuckles. :(

03-21-2009, 11:52 AM
The sonic games except for spinball they all bring back memories from my childhood and also Super Thunder Blade that game is awesome for some reason!

And under the arcade titles that Zakkkan (spelling) is so fun!

03-22-2009, 05:00 AM
Sonic the Hedgehog, easily. Starting up and not hearing that male voice saying Sega but that weird chorus going "seeegaaaa" is quite nostalgic

03-24-2009, 03:54 PM
My favorite childhood games would have to be Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Streets of Rage 2.

04-01-2009, 03:26 PM
No one else says Ristar? Really? Sometimes it seems I was the only one who played that game.

04-01-2009, 11:05 PM
Well it's easily the original Sonics aka 1, 2, and 3, and to a lesser extent Sonic and Knuckles. It was the game series I grew up on and I love to death. Can't go wrong with them.

04-05-2009, 06:14 PM
For me it has to be Shining Force.

I have nothing but fond memories of the countless hours I spent levelling on the first battle. Kill all but 1 enemies, cast Egress and repeat. My hero was unstoppable! :D

04-07-2009, 12:30 AM
So many awesome games, but out of all of them i'd have to say, Sonic & Knuckles :Bounce:

04-07-2009, 12:36 AM
It's a toss up between columns and golden axe for me, I probably spent more time with columns but I have many fond memories of golden axe co-op.

04-07-2009, 05:02 AM
alex kidd in miracle world was the first game we played. we had our whole family work on it. sad to see the sequel blew so much. i love fatal labrynth. too bad, everyone seems to hate it.

04-07-2009, 05:51 AM
Believe it or not i loved beyond oasis so much!

04-07-2009, 07:04 AM
Golden Axe or Dr. Robotnics Mean Bean Machine. I never played Beyond Oasis before this compilation and I love it.

04-07-2009, 08:32 AM
Streets of rage 2 and golden axe were my all time faves when i was a lil boy! I must admit that the michael jackson game was pretty good aswell butbit aint on the game...
I really wish i could get my hands on a megadrive again, bring back the old days!

04-13-2009, 10:11 AM
None of these games are from my childhood as I was 14 - 20 years old when they came out.

My favourite childhood game is either Space Invaders, Asteroids or Ms Pac-Man all on the Atari 2600

ill wayn3
04-14-2009, 06:14 PM
all the sonic games are classics, i remember playing them all on my dad's sega genesis when i was like 5. good memories

04-19-2009, 05:28 PM
its between the 1st sonic and streets of rage 2 for me.

FF7 King
06-15-2009, 09:24 PM
Without a doubt, Streets of Rage 3 for me.

06-17-2009, 05:02 AM
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Shining in the Darkness... I was only seven when the game came out, but I watched my older brother take it from start to finish.

I myself, just picked up a fresh stack of graphing paper... time to see if my cartography skills are still up to par :P

If you are in the mood to play one of the best dungeon crawlers ever made, this is a game for you. However, you have been forewarned.. it will punish you many times for advancing too quickly and thus getting in over your head throughout the course of your journey. For those who have the gull and wear with all to stick it out, you will be well rewarded in the end.

06-21-2009, 06:18 PM
I'm not sure I would probably have to say comix zone but altered beast really brings me back its crazy to see how far games have really came

07-09-2009, 08:09 PM
I'd have to go with Sonic 2. It's still a hell of a lot better than many of today's games. ^_^

07-09-2009, 08:17 PM
Sonic 2 or Altered Beast. I loved these games despite never owning a Sega console. I was a NES guy. :)

And technically, for childhood games I too am one of those that would need to flip back to the Atari 2600 to truly answer this question.

08-01-2009, 05:30 PM
golden axe warrior

Your the only sane one to post in this thread :p

08-04-2009, 12:39 PM
Flicky Flicky Flicky!!!!

I love this game can play it for hours on end, and have done.

08-04-2009, 03:10 PM
