Dude, I hope your joking, what a stupid thing to say, I know Chris has Both veteran badges because he's on my friends list.
I tried veteran but gave up after I died twice on the first level - I was'nt in a "try and try again mood" is in more of a "try once and if you fail give up" mood.

ive completed on veteran and personally thought that cod 2 was easier. i think that the check points are a little to spread out on cod 3 too. but i enjoyed the game good buy!

yeah its easier this time around, more checkpoints per level i think, played it through in two days on veteran from the start.

It's easier IMO, but the more seperated checkpoints and Level Eight alone makes it harder, but not as hard as CoD2.

definitely easier than cod2, i never got all the way through cod2 on veteran and it took me less than a week to complete cod3 on vet and easy mode.

i beat it in a rental period. with less than a day to spare. :) got 100% of the single player achievements and none of the online.

personally, i thought COD2 was much easier on Veteran. that furnace room... WOW. HARD.

There were a few hard pats but but if just use cover and get to another piece of cover when all enemies are eliminated it isn't that hard. Completed it in 3 days. I have played 2 other Cod but i both completed them at the easiest difficulty. This was my first game I completed at the hardest difficulty ever.

Beat CoD3 on Veteran yesterday. While there were some very difficult parts (The Island and The Falaise River), CoD2 was definately harder. Most of CoD3's difficulty came from bad checkpointing, bad squad AI, and several other bugs in level design. All-in-all, I only recommend this to the die-hard WW2 fans.

I achieved this a long time ago, but I think CoD3 veteran was actually harder than CoD2. Might be because I actually enjoyed playing CoD2 Campaign. Most difficult levels had to be Fuel Plant and that forest. At some points I just had to wait still and let my AI buddies clear some enemies, cause whenever I lifted my head I got nailed by mg's and was unable to do anything. One of these points were in that second level (The Island?) where there is a ridge and on top of it a german defense line.

Just did the Veteran achievement!!! the canadian missions were far the hardest.

Yep, in WW1 and WW2, Canadians were the best fighters despite having worse weapons, navy, planes, shovels with holes in them, etc.
We always were there from the beginning (unlike a certain somebody), fought harder battles, scared the Germans the most.
And yet, noone seemed to notice.
Even in this game, the Canadian missions were harder and yet you get 10 gs for the achievement, while all the other countries get 15 or 20.
Also, in one of the Polish missions, they say something like "So we're going in by ourselves?" "No, the Canadians are behind us." "Ha, so we're by ourselves then."
...Ignorant pricks.

Oh and yeah, I beat Veteran quite a while ago and ended up getting the 1000.
I had never played another COD game, I just rented it, stuck it in, selected Veteran... :D
It was pretty damn hard, but what bothered me was that it wasn't hard as much as it was unfair.
You get shot more when you're behind a solid wall than when you're in the open.
You can't kill your enemies.
You kill them, but they just come back so why bother shooting them?
What kind of shooting game doesn't let you kill your friggin' enemies?

Just got this, I spent more then a few days working on games after being disgusted with this one. I hope Treyarch burns for making this game the way they did.

The game looks absolutely beautiful, but the horrible AI on both sides really messed this game up. Allies that run right in front of your firing line and germans that can't die? Fuck that, I'll never buy one of their games again.

Took me about 4 days to beat it on Veteran.

HOWEVER, I thought I'd be clever and start on Veteran to get all the campaign achievements in one go. NOT HAPPENING!!! Then went back, beat the game on Easy to get the layout, and then started again.

Some checkpoints are soooooo hard, but you get them eventually. The ones that are hardest are when your stupid squad do absolutely nothing and let you kill everyone. Ah well, it's done now.

I think the hardest part of vetran is figuring out when the enemy respawns, when the allies will help, and where the pseudo-checkpoints are (ie where to advance to so the allies will follow and then the enemy stops re-spawning).

The reason I found CoD3 harder than CoD2 was not because the game was actually harder, but because I could not re-do the level on easy, figure out the above issues and then play vetran. Similarly if I was bored with a level in CoD2, I could skip around and do something else and then come back. Its a shame, but I think the game would have been spectacular if they had coop for the campaign. hopefully CoD4 will have that.

Im trying to but some parts piss me off so much, I think it was a huge mistake to not include a save feature, cause I can imagine I am not the only one who gets ticked off when they die right before a checkpoint

I'm playing COD3 on veteran right now, and it has been quite easy until now. I'm stuck at Falaise Road, in the warehouse. It's impossible to complete those 3 objectives (use the crane, turn the valve and plant the explosive) without a damn checkpoint. I always manage to complete two of them, but get killed while doing the third. It almost seems as if none of my smoke grenades work in that level. :( Does anyone have any pointers on that particular mission? I'm so frustrated with it lol.

Edit: K, I finally got through it.

YES YES YES JESS!! I DID IT! Took me a month on and off and definitely wasn't as hard or enjoyable as Cod2 but I had a great time with it none the less...Highlight: Watching the germans retreat as I completed the game.

P.s - The main 2 bits I got stuck on were crossing the road (which was ok after I'd figured out a route and where to throw smokes) and the 3 flak guns on the next level but determination and perseverance got me through.

Ugh, yeah right dude. You made the difference in winning and losing in WW2. That credit goes to the USA and Russia. The germans were so terrified of the canadians they called them"teufelhunden".....Wait...did I say canadians? sorry, meant USMC. sorry to kill your argument.

Fellow soldiers got in my way a lot. I couldn't find cover sometimes because they were in my way.

I did, but the achievement is glitched. You can't play by chapter at all. You have to start a game on Veteran and keep using the continue option, never deviating. I did the 1st 2 missions, went and did some achievements, then started on Veteran again on the 3rd and didn't get the achievement when I beat it.
This happened a couple weeks ago, I'm still pissed. I don't know if I'll ever go back and do it again to get the achievement to unlock. It was the most frustrating experience of my life.
I agree it was harder than CoD2, a lot less fun, a lot more annoying, a lot more glitched. I deffinitly wont be buying CoD5 since Treyarch is making that one too.

Just done this on Vet,but be warned this game may test your patience to the limit because of:-

Dodgy AI/getting shot through walls
Enemies you can't kill
Checkpoints too spread out at some points (Forest/Flak)
Hardest points for me were furnace/forest and mace.

I'm right near the end of beating it on veteran...I've been on a veteran run, beat COD4 veteran after leaving single player alone for pure multiplayer, and finished COD2 from about the middle of the game onwards. This game definitely wasn't as frustrating as the other 2, though there are some parts that are a pain in the ass, like the big wide open forests that have checkpoints so damn far apart.

Can I just ask, is COD4 on veteran harder than this? COD4 gave me some serious frustration in parts, but was very doable........if this is much harder I may pass as this game is rubbish, and I couldnt go through story again if its gonna frustrate me too much lol.

this CoD3 was about 10times harder than CoD4 im my opinion, i went through 1 controller playing this game...so frustrating at parts, your squad is so dumb...the key to this game is to learn to manage your smoke gernades...they come in real handy on those stupid parts when the enemies just keep coming and coming no matter how many you kill, and dont look for any help from your squad, they are useless...this was by far the hardest story mode i have played.

ahhh yea especially the part with vierra and you have to save that 1 dude.... after i went and blew up all 3 or 5 of those missle things i was stuck in the courtyard for maybe 45 min... they kept respawning!!!!!! and your team mates keep doing dieing/hide. i had to smoke and run. I was pissed the first time after my first 45 min in the courtyard (got a save thankfully) i had 0 smokes and i ran and died... second time waited maybe 30 min before trying to smoke anr run again. :)

This for me was the very last achievement I went for, simply because I had heard that the vet campaign was harder than CoD2's.

That freaking last part of a Canadian mission where you had to defend a german onslaught on a rundown factory site was such a brutal section I almost gave up after 2.5 hours (on the same checkpoint).

I found CoD 2 incredibly tough but fair.

CoD 3 was just a pile of dog nuts I wanted to stomp out of existence.

You are hiding behind rocks, lying prone with cover and some german sniper caps you through the cover. Right next to you in an open field are your thick as sh*t AI teammates not being touched at all.

Thank god I 1000'ed it this July :drunk

I finished it on Veteran this week. It took me a long time, but that was because I corrupted my saved game (doing a stupid "Recover Profile" on another person's 360) and was so frustrated that I lost my progress I didn't touch it for about 8 months. All told, it probably took me about 2 weeks of on and off playing. It's the only COD game I've ever played, but I picked up a copy of COD2 a while back and am looking forward to playing it. On Veteran, of course!

Beat this game on Vet about two months back and agree 100% that the level with the furnace was where i got stuck for the longest aswell. There and from the final checkpoint at the end of the game. Really frustrating and sometimes impossibly hard, but a great feeling when finally done!

Currently on Chapter 10 (Veteran) in CoD3. I beat CoD2 and CoD4 on Veteran and I'd have to say so far CoD3 is IMO much easier. There are certain spots in this game though that are pretty freaking nervewracking. Probably will have CoD3 completed on Vet in a couple days.

Never played CoD1 though, once I get a PS3 though I'll get it on PS2 and play that sucker on Veteran.

I just hope that CoD5 (since it's out now) doesn't have the same crappy TreyArch glitches that CoD3 has, like getting stuck on any loose object that's on the ground, or enemies shooting through walls.

EDIT: Just beat CoD3 on Veteran. Yay, now I have 2-4 done on Vet. Got 6 online achievements left though including 3 rank ones so those are going to suck suck suck. I want 1000http://www.xbox.com/xweb/xbox/xboxV2/images/G_nav.gif in this game as I've 1000http://www.xbox.com/xweb/xbox/xboxV2/images/G_nav.gif in CoD2 and CoD4. bdg7884
02-24-2009, 03:20 AM
^^^Walkthroughs are worthless for this game! No video ones that I know of. Gamefaqs has one up on there site, it's what I am using. Its pretty much worthless as this game is so cheap, retarded, and out of control it's fuckin unreal!!!

This game has pushed my patience more then any other game I have ever played! It is amazingly hard compared to COD 2, or COD 4. It has taken me since the begining of November to get as far as I have! I get stuck and end up taking month breaks before I come back to it. I am currently on the last level and can taste victory, but I am about ready to beat the shit out of someone!

EDIT: I finally beat this hunk of shit! Never again will I touch this game, not even if it is the last game on earth! As a present to myself, a celebration we will call it. I BROKE this fucking game in half! I just saved someone pain and agony... YOUR WELCOME!

Just got this Vetern achievement today and I must say, aside from the Forest level, COD3 was a cake walk for me compared to COD4. The end of the mission "All Gillied up" and the 2nd to last level, I think it was "No fighting in the war room"(where you fight through the missle silo) gave me nightmares. I spent hours at each spot, probably spent more time beating those two missions then I did beating COD3 and 2 put together lol.... Now im on to the online, which I suck horribly at. This is the first COD that i've actually played on Live and I must say its addicting, but people have no mercy and just whoop my ass lol....

COD 2 was way, way harder than COD3. It was darn near a walk through. There were a few spots that took me about 15 minutes to figure out a "line" - what order to kill the guys, and when to sprint, and when to duck for cover. Not bad at all, overall.:woop:

Yea the beginning of the last level is a bitch..that forest part wasn't all that difficult. All in all I'd have to say that COD3 is waayyy more difficult than any of the other ones. This game is a flat out bitch. Anybody that says that it's a cakewalk is full of shit or they're in denial of being shitty. This is coming fron an experienced FPS gamer. Not only can the enemies light you up like no tomorrow, but once you make it past a part that you've been struggling with, shooting your teammates becomes pretty common, and of course all that hard work gets washed away by their unintelligent glitched asses. VERY frustrating game, glad it's over with.:uzi::eek:

Oh yea, and infinite enemy respawns in certain spots make this more frustrating than it should be.

I can't even count how many times I died because of something getting me or my character stuck in an area, or some other stupid crap. The more you move foward in this game the easier it is. It's only when you stop and take time that you get overwhelmed IMO. Now I need to get CQC, battle scavenger, rifleman, and the multiplayer cheevos.... that'll only take a life time haha....awww :(

Whoever designed that furnace room where you get shot from all angles and those trenches with the ultimate sharpshooters who are impervious to bullets with no cover once you've planted the C4 on the Flaks, I hope your next shit is a hedgehog.

Completed it last night and I have to say this game has made the last week a living hell, it is just SOOO BUGGY!!!
You have soldiers running in the way of your fire, getting stuck in walls, enemy AI shooting at you through SOLID cover with perfect accuracy, awful enemy spawning, and glitchy environments. Seriously treyarch have trouble making shooters as World at War had the same problems as well as infinite grenades thrown at you constantly. Hardest missions would probably be the forest (especially the last bit with the mortar and crossing the road), laison river and the mace. Think I'm gonna keep playing my iw shooters from now on

Just finished the game on veteran yesterday. Lets just say I wont be doing it again. Still a good game though and a lot harder than MW2.

I totally agree with Springveldt. All CoDs made by Tryarch are horrible at specific points. All in all i enjoy the games but there are always some "pain in the ass" moments.

I'm currently playing it on Veteran.

People were saying, beware of The Forrest Mission, its sooo hard. I did once and it was one of the easiest for me... you got a sniper rifle, it makes it so easy to do.

I'm at Mission 12 out of 14 right now and I got to say Mission 9 (Laison River) drove me crazy... I didn't have any struggling part in the game before playing that mission... On the 2nd checkpoint when you need to plant 3 explosives on three guns, that part was an ass, espacially the third one... I had to restart the whole level to keep some smoke nade to pass it...

Can't wait to finish it, probably tomorrow.

Veteran on this game was frustrating at times only because of the glitches. I mean, did they actually hire testers for this game? Enemies that can shoot through smoke and walls?

Playing this game again reminded of just how bad Treyarch actually are/were. It feels like they took the COD: Big Red One gameplay and splashed on some fancy next-gen graphics, and just placed the number "3" on the case.

However, from what I played, the MP is actually quite good, at least.

Horrible single player, stupid characters and plot...several dimensions bellow COD 2, which is the best COD on the consoles in terms of gritty single player experience.

COD 2 = Saving Private Ryan
COD 3 = Kelly's Heroes

I actually liked the stories and graphics... But some stupid glitches... I'm very good at FPS shooter so it wasn't hard for me to pass it on veteran, took me 3 days, playing it at night.

Mission 1: easy
Mission 2: easy
Mission 3: normal (took me several try to destroy 3 flak)
Mission 4: Easy
Mission 5: Very easy
Mission 6: Normal (I didn't struggle in it but I think I got lucky on some part)
Mission 7: Very easy
Mission 8: aka the Forrest, for me it was one of the easiest because of the sniper; easy
Mission 9: Very hard (I spent more time on that mission than any others, before finally restarting the whole level and keeping some smoke for the flak's part)
Mission 10: easy
Mission 11: easy
Mission 12: easy
Mission 13: Hard (the last part with the Bazooka, I was always dying after killing the tank)
Mission 14: The first 3 checkpoints are very hard, the first fight and then it gets easy.

1000/1000 on Cod4 and CoD6

I need to boost the multiplayer in CoD3 and I'll eventually do CoD2 on veteran.

WaW is lame and I don't feel getting those DLC.

The arcade game CoD1 apparently is the harder of all.

I just beat Call of Duty 3 on veteran today and I have to say it was definitely one of the harder to beat in the series. I only did about 2 or 3 missions a day to avoid disliking the game to the point where I simply didn't want to even put it in my 360.

Advice for those in the process or looking to complete this game:

I think the most difficult part of this game is simply the amount of time and objectives that must be completed in between each check point. I often found myself repeating certain sections five or six times which I successfully completed the first time through just because the last objective before the checkpoint is triggered was very difficult and I died without knowing exactly what to do. I think I still managed to beat the game in about 5 or 6 days but all I can really reinforce is patience. If you have the patience to try over and over you will be able to beat the game on veteran. Some parts seem very lucky and some parts I simply would take cover and let the seemingly useless AI cover me for a certain amount of time triggering new objectives, other times I would simply rush the AI and try to complete objectives early instead of waiting to kill seemingly endless chains of enemies. It's all about experimenting with certain situations and seeing what works. If you die going to the left 5 times in a row try going to the right, or if you just can't seem to stay alive when you physically try to thin out herds of enemies simply take cover and leave your xbox for 15 minutes to take a break. Come back in 15 and see if the AI has thinned the enemies enough for you to progress. Lastly, as I just mentioned it a little in the previous statement don't forget to take breaks. If you are stuck on a certain checkpoint do not be afraid to turn off your xbox and pick it up later. It really helps to just take a break and try it again later.

That is my two cents on the game and if you have any questions about specific parts of the game feel free to message me over live and I can try and let you know how I progressed past certain parts of the game.

Im not saying Im a Godly fps gamer or anything, but overall it wasn't that bad for me. It took me a little over 2 days to beat on veteran, now for the multiplayer. The last checkpoint in the forest was a BITCH.
That was So Horrible. Other then that it was ok. :)
Does anyone know if I could just search and join a boosting session? I didnt know if that was like the only thing people were doing or what.

Finished it about an hour or so ago; one of the best I've played with only two very frustrating points. Once you figure out how to deal with AI, the game is a breeze. =)
To be honest, think I died more on normal than I did on veteran... Haha. Which overall, still wasn't much because I didn't get purple heart! D:

Good luck to those that have recently picked the game up, it's a decent campaign although super short. :/

Any boosters, send a FR my way and a message!

I never played a Call of Duty before, this is my first one. I started to play immiedatly in Veteran and finished it, doing almost 3-4 mission a day. It would took me just 3 days if the f*****g 360 didn't scratched my disk, had to rebuy it from Marketplace so Microsoft owe me 2400 MP.
Some spots were tricky, but if I can manage to finish it without playing it once, I can do the other CoD as well.

I go this game on the day it was released...lol...played on normal and over the course of 5 years played and beat all the other cod titles on veteran...decided it was time to go back to this one. Ugh, "We've gotta get across this road"...finished it, all controllers still intact

I don't know how you guys have done it. I put the game away a few years ago when I couldn't get up the hill in the second level...the Island. When you supposedly follow the creek up the right side of the hill. After a million times, I gave up.

Well, a few years later, I try again. I cruise through the 1st level and the 2nd until....that frikkin hill again. I swear, there is NO WAY to do this. I crawl underwater beside a log and still get peppered dead.

Finally finished this game on veteran a few minutes ago and I couldn't be happier to take it out of my 360 after that hellish campaign frankly. Oddly enough I had less trouble with the forest level and the furnace section compared to a few parts in other levels and I heard they would be the toughest but luckily with all the tips out there, it makes those parts more bearable now at least. Good luck to anyone else trying to get this done or that is currently attempting it. You have my sympathies.

FINALLY F*CK YEAH!
This was the hardest CoD i played till today.
So unfair, so glitched, sometimes i wished i would have had one of the developers by my side to punch him in the face everytime this ubermighty cheating AI killed me.
The last mission, the last checkpoint (clear the house) was one of the hardest parts
because no matter how far you got after the house, you died, you started b4 the house *argh*.

I'm so reliefed that i will never play this game anymore.

Real pain in the *ss.

just beat it...last cod for me to finish on vet...DAMN FUCKIN CHEATING AI...phew that felt good! If all it was so frustrating cause of the general bugginess/glitchiness. I Managed to get to the mortar 9 out of 10 times after my 5th try or so but the damn mortar controls suck balls! anyway, fuck yeah!

edit: oh and I forgot to mention that my controller now has a bitemark :)

Just done the game on Veteran yesterday, definitly the hardest Call of Duty ive ever played, still got Call of Duty 2 to go. The game is buggy, your teamates comes in the front of you, ennemies shoot through wall sometimes, at least there's no rain grenade. It was a good game until level 12.

I almost throwed my 360 out of the window, i cried because the rage inside of me was too big, i swear I was about to file a complain against Treyarch and I still think i will LOL, i'm still mad a day after and i don't think I will ever play this game again.
