Because it's impossible to get a singer for band quick play online I have tried to sign in as a guest on a 2nd controller and connect a wireless mic to it and just leave it by itself on beginner.

When I do this though, it says "To play online you must connect a microphone or xbox 360 headset".

The headset is connected to the controller as player 2, and it works fine when I test it on vocal career, so why doesn't it detect the microphone when I play online.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? It happened on world tour as well.

For guest accounts online, you need an actual microphone. I think the booklet says this in the Mic section.

Does the 2nd controller need to sign in and have Gold account?

No, the second controller can sign in as a "guest" of the 1st controllers Xbox live Gold account.

Online.

On... line.

Career is not online.

I know, I'm not stupid. I just said it is weird because you can sing locally with the wired headset, but not online.
