It now appears that MS have recognised that the dreaded E74 is as bad as the RRoD

They are now covering it in the 3yr extended warranty.

And as a bonus to those of you that have paid to get your 360 fixed, you'll get a refund on repair costs.

Not really, It's a fault with their system it should be covered anyway. It's not like it's the 360 owners fault.

Totally. And is RRoD such a big deal? I've only got it once and my box is on 7+ hours a day.

this is good news, but they really need to fix the newer consoles so we don't have to go through this anymore.

I doubt that Microsoft would make the same mistake again. Since the first Xbox hadn't such issues, I highly assume that the next console won't have such problems.

Its when a part of your xbox malfunctions, such as the graphics card. It flashes one red light thats in the bottom left of the ring. Your xbox just displays this screen:

Also to those who may have already paid for a E74 repair, MS are offering refunds to anybody who has paid that would have been normally covered under this new extended warranty :)

i have to hand it to Microsoft on the timing for the new warranty. My xbox just got the E74 error, and because of the new warranty i don't have to pay to get it fixed.

Why not? at the end of the day it's a free repair and you might end up with new parts ;) I got a new motherboard and fan, along with a nice free 3 months of xbox live.

This is great news, especially as it covers all previous E74 repairs. :woop:
