So a minimum of three full play-throughs (I read you pretty much have to do everything to get to level 20).

I think the grinding in this game will be fun and better than Mass Effect which I didn't mind doing anyway. Having long achievements is good and getting 1000 at this game is going to feel like a good achievement.

Looks some really fun achievements here to be had. Of course there's going to be a full Gamer Score attempt and I sure going to have fun doing it. Or at least I hope so. Oh wait! No I know! ;)

It looks like a fantastic list IMO, it's great to see another time-consuming and deep RPG like Mass Effect or Oblivion.

I like me some meaty achievements.

But Hopelessly Romantic has me a bit confused. Are you supposed to experience romance with each possible option on a single character or are you supposed too collectively through multiple play-throughs?

Considering the first three words of the description are "Across all playthroughs" I'm not sure where the confusion is. Experience every possible romance in the game. All City Elf romances, All Mage romances, etc.... Some may overlap, but every unique romance has to be experienced.

That's not how I interpreted it. From what I can tell, it seems more along the lines of a do each romance individually. For example, you need to fully complete each romance at least once. In other words, do every romance at least once. Seeing as how doing every romance for each origin story would be extremely time-consuming and almost ridiculous.

Besides, as far as I can tell, as long as your an elf or a human, you can do any of the romances depending on which gender you are. Dwarves, I have no idea how they will work romance wise.

I gotta say this is another solid list, alot of playing and alot of grinding. . . hopefully gameplay wise it'll be able to hold up cause I do want to go for the full 1K and I dont want to get bored with this game the first time I beat it.

So far, the two really intimidating ones are the "Get all endings" and the "Complete all romances".

Other than that, they seem pretty easy.

EDIT: Damnit, I just read the achievement names. That's way too much spoilers right there for my taste.

Havin just read the review in PC Gamer (UK) - it got 94%, which for that mag is pretty much perfection...it's stated that you've got 7 different classes to play through, and all are very different throughout so hopefully these half-dozen playthroughs should be unique each time!

That's fantastic! I'm assuming the 360 version won't be quite as awesome, although I could be wrong of course... but it'll still be awesome nonetheless.

These achievements seem very time-consuming, which is honestly something I like. Lately I have been playng games with pretty easy achievements (MUA2 for example), and got bored fast. At least this will give me alot to work for, and alot of entertainment for $60.

Who wants to guess how long it will take before some no-life gets all the achevements? I predict within' the first ten days of the games release someone will have every achievement. At most two weeks.

Good ol mass Effectian Achievements :)

They take a while, but are generally enjoyable to gain... not like Star Ocean: The Last Hope's Achievements... (the perfect example of annoying time consuming achievements)

Pew
11-01-2009, 03:43 PM
There are 6 different Origin stories, which are the unique stories before you enter the main quest of the game. See it as starting as a mage, a fighter, etc. Some of the achievements are "sided with X or Y in quest A" but these are not Origin story quests. So you could probably finish the game siding with one side (evil/good as far as you can call it that) in one playthrough and then doing the other side in the other playthrough.

You could probably do around two playthroughs and get most achievements other than the "all romances" achievements and such. That leaves you with the choice to either play through the game 6 times with different Origin stories, or play through it three times for the class achievements and then doing just the Origin stories seperate. These can take up to 2 hours if you read all the dialogue though...

Either way, it's a looooong game and playing through it 3 times would take you forever. I'll probably play through it once as a good guy, once as a bad guy a few months later and keep it at that. Definitely not a game for achievement whores, heh. I know this may be the wrong place to say this, but I'd say: just enjoy the game and have fun. There are no stupid grind/item creation achievements so you'll unlock stuff by just playing as you'd normally play.

I had 6+ playthroughs in ME, lost count - but, that took me years. I played through the first time and didn't pick it up again till months later. I don't know if a similar thing will happen with DA:O, but I might not be able to put it down until I play through the entire game (ie. all the sidequests I can find, etc.) and then each of the origin stories...

I agree that this is misleading, and while I also agree you would assume it is cumulative and doesn't need to be done in one play through, then they go and make another achievement description like Killed 1,000 Darkspawn (Multiple Playthroughs Possible) which either confirms it all must be done in one play through or simply confirms the logical conclusion that it is cumulative and also points out an inconsistency in their achievement labeling.

I'm hoping it’s the latter for obvious reasons ;) Great game so far though having a blast. Just FYI though, Morrogan only digs men and will not allow a romance if you are female. Shame too because she seems pretty kinky.

Spoiler Dead ahead warning :
- getting achievements for specific cult or group you can get them by saving and reloading because most of the time near the end of quest you'll be given an option to change sides so save do the remaining 15-20mins of thequest then reload.
- endings in my opinion :
1-sacrifice yourself
2-sacrifice alistair or Loghain ( Depend on your decision )
3-use moriggan ritual to escape death
4-use moriggan ritual to let alistair or Loghain live ( Depend on your decision )
- For my male character i did 2 of romances ( Leliana and Morrigan ) in one playthrough . maybe you could do Zevran too i dont know. he kept hitting on my male character but didnt pay attention.
and Difficulty wont affect the achievements.
if those are the endings you can save and reload near the end of game and get those achievments without having several playthroughs.

Are the 4 characters that have romance achievements (Alistair, Morrigan, Zevran & Leliana) all of them, or are there additional romances that you have to do to get the "Hopelessly Romantic" achievement?

If the answer is the latter, then does anyone have a list of all of the characters required for "Hopelessly Romantic"?

Some guy on my list played the game and only has 2 achievements but here's the weird thing.

Bloodied and Last of Your Line.

The two achievements are complete the Human Noble Story and Complete the entire story WITHOUT DYING. WTF!?

How the hell did he get these two achievements without getting any thing else in the game?

Is there a way to end the Human Noble Story right at the start of the game or something? That's truly retarded if that's the case.

Get back to me on this one because I'm about to crucify this MF'er.

It's just those four. You get an achievement for each of them, and then a collective one for getting them all.

And for Bloodied, you just have to play the origin story without dying.

For the perfectionist achievement of completing all four different endings does anyone know if once you beat the archdemon and sacrifice Alistair if you can after just load up the save before you fought the archdemon, fight it again, and then decide to sacrifice yourself and have it count towards the different ending? Or do you have to do the different ending with a whole new character...cuz then that's four full playthroughs...and that would suck.

No problem. I was a little worried myself since one of the endings technically doesn't result in the ability to save *cough* but it must keep track of what endings you have seen outside of the samegaves since that was not my last ending to complete. So basically do them in any order you desire :)

one of the secret achievements not shown in the achievement guide is The Ultimate Sacrifice worth 50 and it is earned by sacrificing yourself to kill the archdemon without using the baby.

If you haven't gotten past it yet, you talk to the "barrier". You can't talk to the people by selecting them, but when you active the barrier, it activates a conversation with people on the other side.

Can't get enough of it! I've the perfect balance of RPG, it's more user-friendly than Oblivion and more in-depth than Fable II. Granted the whole Romance and foursome side of it I reckon spoils it but I like that you can have that interaction with certain characters too.

The only achievement I feel I'ma have problems with is Traveller =| I don't think when I entered the Alienage near the end it registered, so there might be a glitch there.

That's not correct. I let the secret character sacrifice himself and got the achievement. You get this ach whenever someone sacrifices himself. For the other option is the second achievement involving the baby.

I'm on my second playthrough taking the second options on the main quests so I can get those (like siding with one of two options on the main quests for the chievos) and I sided with the werewolves and Slayer did not unlock :( I guess I'll get it on my third playthrough or just make a new character if the next few decision based chieves don't unlock.. despite being 20+ hours in. Got a problem... maybe u guys can help?

I'm taking advantage of the level glitch to get all classes to level 20 first and then starting a fresh game. Just want those achievements outta the way.

Warrior worked just fine, got to level 20, set skills, got it....

Mage on the other hand... i wasnt paying attention and went all the way to lv 25. i dont think that matters, but meh, worth noting just in case. Saved before i set skills at lv 25 and when all was said and done, no achievement. I reloaded the save several times with tragic fail every attempt.

If nothing can come of this i will just restart a mage story, seeing how it doesnt take long, but... would like to know the cause if possible before attempting my final class.

NVM guys, figured it out.... Apparently you CAN'T wait till your level 25 to spend all your skill points. You wont get the achievement,"at least thats what happened to me." I restarted with a new mage and spent the points a lv 20 and sure enough i got it. Just given heads up to those that may not have known that.

Simply siding with the werewolves won't unlock the achievement. To unlock it, you must be highly persuasive and

persuade them to kill the elves.

Yes I have it. It's from his personal quest Golems Memories. Just talk to him a bunch and eventually you get clues that trigger the quest.

I know its an old post, but I just read it. You have to go to Caidain's Cross in the Deep Roads inside Orzammar with Shale in your party and make your way to some obelisk deeper in the caves and then Shale will remember everything and the achievement will unlock.

The next objective in the quest triggers at Caidain's Cross with Shale in your party, and that's what I said. I am almost positive that the finale of the quest is not in the Anvil of the Void area, cause there is nothing there except Caidain, Branka, and a bunch of lyrium vein's.

I don't know why you are thinking that it is there... The Deep Roads lead to the Anvil of the Void...

Okay, I have a very serious question. Right now I am really rattled.

I remeber from my first playthrough that at the end of the game (I was female) that Alistair would not let me kill the archdemon because he loved me.

My second playthrough I am male and I brought Logain up to fight the Archdemon with me. Am I going to be able to kill the archdemon or is he going to be a huge douche and be all like "No, I'm a huge flamer". My last, and only save is right before you go onto the roof, so I cannot change squad members and swap him out.

On a side note, do I just have to let the credits start, or do I have to let them play all the way through EVERY time. If that's the case, then I am not even going to do this shit AGAIN. Cause on my Alistair kills Archie run I didnt finish the credits, which would mean a third playthrough since i deleted that save for the sake of space on my 20gb HDD (1mb left ladies and gentlemen). I only started the credits for the Logain kill Archie one, but that one is not too late to salvage.

Long ass post I know, but help is required, sooner the better! Posted this in the Ach. G&RM as well. Thanks.

I guess there could be possible spoilers here but its answering your question.

Right there are 4 possible endings as I am sure you are aware of:

1. Accept Morrigan's offer to have the child, you must then kill the archdemon and go as far as the speech made after the archdemons death.

2. Kill Loghain keeping Alistair in the party, reject Morrigan's offer and then take Alistair into the final battle and allow him to kill the archdemon. (If you take Alistair, he will NOT allow you to kill the archdemon! He will always do it!) Go as far as the speech made after the archdemons death.

3. Let Loghain live and take him up as a grey warden, reject Morrigan's offer and then take Loghain into the final battle and allow him to kill the archdemon. (You can either choose to let him kill the archdemon or you can kill the archdemon. Unlike with Alistair you actually get the opportunity to kill the archdemon.) Go as far as the speech made after the archdemons death.

4. Let Loghain live and take him up as a grey warden, reject Morrigan's offer and then kill the archdemon yourself in the final battle. Go as far as the speech made after the archdemons death.

So if you want to do all 4 endings in all playthroughs.
-Save before the Landsmeet so you have the option of choosing Loghain or Alistair.
-Choose Alistair and then make another save while at Redcliffe after saving it from the darkspawn.
-Accept Morrigan's offer and do that ending.
-Then reload the save at Redcliffe and reject Morrigan's offer and continue on for Alistair to kill the archdemon for that ending.
-Reload from before the Landsmeet and and choose Loghain.
-Reject Morrigan's offer and continue on until the door just before the archdemon battle and make a save.
-Take Loghain into the battle and allow him to kill the archdemon.
-Reload the save just before the archdemon and kill it yourself.

Very odd then. Lemme see if I remember how it occurred:

Alistair and my character were pals, I put him on the throne against his will and killed Loghain.

I refused Morrigan's proposal and refused to speak to Alistair about it too, so she bounced.

I don't know -- when it was time to make the killing blow I told him to lead Ferelden and my character hit the juice.

I'm a bit surprised that nobody else has been able to do that.

How are Darkspawn kills tallied actually? On one of the loading screens where it gives "Heroic" statistics it says I have 128 Darkspawn kills, but Grey Warden still has not unlocked. It's still early in my first play so I'm just keeping trudging along and hoping it will pop eventually.

Any ideas?

I'm new to 360 gaming in general and I'm trying to make Dragon Age: Origins the first game I get 100% achievement on, since it seems to be on of the easiest and I still have a blast playing it. I'm at about 70% right now. But I have a querie. Possible stupidity incoming.

For the Recruiter achievement, do you need to keep saved games for it to unlock? On my first / second play through I recruited everyone but Wynne and Loghain, and when I started my third I deleted the other saves (because I'm weird about space-wasting 'n' all that) and killed Zevran rather than recruiting him. I've got Wynne and I'm about to get Loghain - will the game still recognise it as recruiting all characters across all play throughs or will I have to quickly start anew just to recruit Zevran?

Same applies to Hopeless Romantic, I suppose.

Does that make sense?

EDIT: Nevermind keeping saved games isn't neccessary.

Curiously, I'm on my third playthrough and battling the Archdemon this time around is so infuriating, even though I beat it quickly the first two because my main is a warrior, as is Loghain, I've brought Leliana along for ranged weaponry and Wynne as my mage/healer. I'm convinced something is glitched, though, because I don't have my party on hold position but no matter which of them I select to control, the others won't do anything. They'll all be frozen in the middle of some skill or talent and only one character will be left doing all the work. I've tried reloading several times but it doesn't seem to fix it. :/

No idea bro. A lot of the Herioc Accomplishments are usually incorrect. MY Blight Queller acheivement(? 1000 kills) popped at like 938 darkswpawn kills, so just keep killing shit and it should eventually pop up.

Best option I can think of is clear your cache or something, otherwise you S.O.L.

Or you can just use the Balista's to kill the archdemon. Probably takes longer, but you dont have to heal like ever... So yah :) Good luck with that!

the ballistae method is the easiest way to kill the AD. just use one thats close enough to hit him but where he doesnt see you. keep your party members with you and send out any army reinforcement guys you have so they will keep the AD busy and spam the ballistae. when the AD flies too close to you, sneak past him and get to the nearest ballistae and keep firing.

If you do not want Loghain just save before the landsmeet and then choose Loghain and then reload your save and carry on with Alister. But you do need to use Loghain for one of the endings.

That is the best way to get all four endings in one go, have a save before the landsmeet. But with regard to the post two above this one, that is okay you are allowed to do that.

The game does not support online multiplayer? So nobody can particularily help you.

Got to the achievement guide for this game by clicking on this link: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/dragon-age-origins/guide/

and look for the specific achievements you need, and that should help you a ton.

For traveller, I got it by just exploring everywhere I could to the full extent. It takes a lot longer, but I love RPG's so I would have explored no matter what the achievement asked.

For Blight Queller, as long as you kill everything you see, and maybe farm some kills in the final battle with the Archdemon, you could easily get this in one playthrough. I did, so it is not impossible.

No, you can play the DLC whenever you like, you just have to click on new game, and select the DLC you wish to play.

I would recommend however doing the "Witch Hunt" content after you finish the main Origins campaign as it will spoil one of the endings if you do not.

Hi there to everyone,
I've got some issues with "Perfectionist" achievement.

For the first time I've finished Origins as warrior with this Dark Ritual ending and I have had A Dark Promise achievement unlocked. Then I started my second playthru with rouge, having Loghain in my party. So I allowed him to hil Archie and unlocked The Ultimate Sacrifice achievement. Reloaded my latest save before archdemon fight (door to roof) and killed this dragon by myself - with the same character as I did previously with Loghain.
Last week I started my third playthrough playing as mage and this time Alistair killed this demon.

I still have no achievement. I even tried to repeat this fight few times using the same saves and still nothing.
I don't know maybe I don't get this achievement cause I lost some saves from warrior profile - the last one before final battle and after credits.
Could anyone advice?

If you took Morrigan up on her offer on any of the following playthroughs after you did it on your first one then it would have counted it as the Dark Promise ending. You have to refuse Morrigan each and everytime to get the other endings. Plus losing the save prior to finishing the other playthroughs may have caused the achievement not to pop. Either way, your probably going to have to play it again for the achievement.

Then the only thing I can think of as to why you would not have unlocked it is because you either did the Morrigan ending twice, or it doesn't count your first run because you deleted your save.

What I would suggest is getting to the Landsmeet and save like it suggests in the achievement guide, re-do the first ending. And if it pops after that great, if it doesn't and your that dedicated to the achievement, re-load your landsmeet save and finish out the other 3 endings.

Loaded Landsmeet save, took Loghain into my party, saved after meeting with Riordan, declined Morrigan's offer and saved before roof.
First I killed Archdemon with main character, loaded save before roof once again and killed Archie accepting Loghain's offer and then... achievement unlocked!

Thank's BurningBlaze21 (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/member.php?u=189201) ;)

looking for new exciting RPG games to jump into. recently got mass effect and fell in love, still doing a number of playthrus right now. got interested in bioware (currently a member of their site), and noticed alot of talk about DA.

what kind of RPG is Dragon Age exactly, like an action? what is the time period the game is set around, are the characters and plot interesting? i love the idea of customizing a hero and building up stats/skills thru-out a game, im wondering what kind of say you have in the development of your char? such as weapons, abilities, relationships, stats ect?

even if its just broad info on the backround story of the game, any info would be appreciated. bioware impressed me greatly with mass effect, and im suspecting that DA will do the same. hopefully this post will get noticed, the time gaps on this thread are tremendous lol. and i usually refrain from creating new pointless threads, especially if its a game i dont even own yet haha.

Dragon Age is a third person action RPG. I'm not really sure if it has got a time set around it...they use swords, magic, bow and arrow so I would assume the medieval time period is your safest bet. It takes place in a fictional land known as Ferelden, and involves these beastly-human like creatures known in the game as 'Darkspawn'. You play as whichever race you choose among human, elf, and dwarf and you can select your own gender. Class restrictions only apply to dwarfs, you cannot be a mage as a dwarf as they are incapable of magic (unless I'm mistaken, if I am I apologize). You play as a 'Grey Warden' which defend Ferelden and other nations in the fictional world of Dragon Age from the Darkspawn. The game takes place during a 'Blight' or when the Darkspawn come out of the Deep Roads and wreak havok among the citizens of Ferelden causing death and destruction. It is your job to stop the Blight by any means necessary.

The game itself if very immersive, allowing you to choose if your character is an asshole, or they always do the right thing even if it means taking the long way. Each class you pick has a set skill tree which you can pick skills from, at levels 7 and 14 you can pick class specializations which unlock 2 more skill trees for you (1 for each specialization). You get complete free range of any skill in the skill trees to learn and you also get 3 attribute points per level. Attributes are pretty standard like strength, dexterity, magic, willpower, vitality and the like. Character creation is pretty standard very similar to Oblivion, you get to choose from a panel of hairstyles, hair colours, and shape your Wardens face however you like.

I would recommend this game if you liked Mass Effect, because it is the same company and Dragon Age Origins is the better of the two Dragon Age games story wise. Combat can get a bit tedious especially at the higher levels, but that is nothing a boost to the difficulty cannot fix if it annoys you that much. The graphics are also a bit dated, but once again not deal breaking.

Hey.
I'm playing as a Female noble and just wondering.

Is it possible to sacrifice myself if i end the relationship with Alastair? And maybe get him to dislike me..

I'm not at the end yet.

Yes it is entirely possible to do that. Get Alistair to become king and marry that woman and you'll be able to sacrifice yourself.

I would suggest saving before the landsmeet though as it says in the achievement guide if you are going for the 4 endings achievement.

For the story related achievements worth 10g, how is everyone getting them? Do you just start a new game and once you get one unlocked, you just start a new game and repeat?

Also what's the recommended way of getting the classes up to level 20? Thanks

This may be a little delayed but yes you do the origin story with every character or whatever.

As for level 20 you can either play the game 3 times each with a different class and level them up normally but if you want to level up quicky do the XP glitch at the beginning of the game (ostagar?) I have no idea what it is called, can't remember. I am sure it is in the achievement guide if it isn't its nothing a simple google search cannot solve.

If it is patched just do the glitch offline.

This guide was kinda meh....I used the walkthrough to perfection and thinking about doing a achievement 1750/1750 walkthrough video guide cause I can help plenty of people get everything to.
