I am just curios to know what are you guys doing with the games after you complete them, are you collecting or trading them

if Im gonna play it again I keep, if Im not I trade

06-05-2009, 06:11 PM
I used to trade all my games in, but after seeing my friends video game collection I regret trading those games in. So now I just keep them all even though I'm completely done with it.

06-05-2009, 06:18 PM
I never trade in Xbox 360 games. The price the local shop offers for them is ridiculous.

06-05-2009, 06:23 PM
I was thinking also about collecting them but their value will always go down, so in my opinion it's better to trade them if you get a good deal back.
A shop offered me 30 euros for Gears 2, I think that's a good deal for a pre-owned game :)

06-05-2009, 06:31 PM
Trade em in. I usually wait until GameStop has a good trade-in promotion, like trade in 3 games get an extra 20% credit, and take what I have in. Works good for me since I get the promotion and my extra 10% for having the edge card

06-05-2009, 06:35 PM
I like to keep all of my games.

Inked up u are on the money. The only time I trade mine is when GS has a promotion if u wait around they will have one. About a month and a half ago they had a trade in 5 or more and get 60% more for trades. I ended up getting a 182 $ for 5 games that I had beaten thats pretty good for GS. Really though you just have to keep your eyes open and check the good deals thread.;)

if Im gonna play it again I keep, if Im not I trade
Exactly what I do :)

06-05-2009, 06:48 PM
Keep em. FYI, there is a stickied thread in this forum where you can post your game collections there.

06-05-2009, 06:51 PM
We keep a lot of games, but sell a lot, too. I've sold a ton of my hubby's games on Amazon. Not always happy with the amount of commission they take, but they always sell really fast, are soooo easy to list, and I get my money quickly. If a game is fairly new we often get back almost what we paid retail new, making it cost less than a rental for the time we spent playing.

06-05-2009, 07:20 PM
I usually sell them off or trade on Goozex so I can get some new (for me) games to play without breaking the bank. The problem is that I don't often finish games, so they get stacked up! Some of the games I will never complete as my skills aren't good enough, especially in driving games. But, as long as I am enjoying the game, I will keep it!

06-05-2009, 07:40 PM
You should've added a few more options to the poll since I'm somewhere in the middle.

I used to keep all the games I played ever since I could remember which brought my game collection to about 600+ games but I traded about 90% of them in when I moved down to Mexico.

Nowadays I only keep games that are part of series I love or party games.
For example, I've kept all the Resident Evil games ever released ever since the initial 1996 release, the entire Metal Gear Solid game and Silent Hill series (although I may trade in Silent Hill" Homecoming since that game was terrible).
As for party games, I only keep Street Fighter IV, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, and any music simluator games.

Some games I will only buy for the achievements, like Fallout 3, and as soon as I'm done with them they'll go straight to the video game store.

06-05-2009, 07:48 PM
I keep all of my games. I like to see my collection grow.

06-05-2009, 09:04 PM
I always keep my games unless I think they suck really bad.

KACG Penguin
06-05-2009, 09:08 PM
I used to keep all of my games but I found I could never afford new ones so I traded them all in. But now I keep them ALL unless they are really bad.

06-05-2009, 09:09 PM
I keep all of them. Approaching 150 (PS3 and 360 combined) for this generation. If I wanted to trade them back in, I'd just rent them. Buying a game, beating it, and trading it back in is a terrible economic move. It's why Gamestop thrives though.

06-05-2009, 09:14 PM
I keep all of my games.

06-05-2009, 09:46 PM
I keep all of my games.

This exactly.

06-05-2009, 09:49 PM
Never traded in a game, never planning on it. I love to collect them and see my collection grow.

06-05-2009, 09:55 PM
I hardly ever trade in games anymore, unless I really don't like them. Its always nice when you can go back to a game.

Mongolian Beef
06-05-2009, 10:17 PM
I like to keep all my games, I can always go back to them if I feel like it, and trade-in values are always shit.

06-05-2009, 10:26 PM
trade in's isnt worth it

06-05-2009, 11:02 PM
It depends what game it is. If it's Modern Warfare 2, then no, most likely I will not get rid of it, but if it's TMNT, yeah after I 1000G it, I'll return it and get something else.

06-05-2009, 11:13 PM
i collect my games, till now round 150 games.
i cant sell my tiny old games :boxer

06-05-2009, 11:29 PM
I sell my games that I don't find fun or I don't really play.

06-06-2009, 09:41 AM
i tell myself that i will keep them but then if a new game comes out that i have no money for i will end up trading in some games, im going to try stop it now if i get this job i applied for (:

06-06-2009, 09:52 AM
I Always seem to keep them, I have only ever traded 1 games and that was Smackdown vs Raw 07 because it just seem to be very slow going. After that though my game collection seems to grow every week, I just cant seem to resist picking up cheap games...

Genesis x360a

If i buy my games at Retail for like 40 then i will keep them, But games i get of Ebay for like 5 - 25 i will trade them in or re-sell them on Ebay after ive completed them :)

Cosmic CHAOS 89
06-06-2009, 10:26 AM
...I've never traded any games I have ever had...it just doesn't feel right to enjoy a game and then get rid of it....

gears of crabs
06-06-2009, 11:40 AM
i trade mine in since i cant afford to go spend 60 bucks on games all the damn time. you know, being an adult in the real world and all with bills and a kid. i will keep games for multiplayer tho or that my wife actually enjoys

06-06-2009, 11:48 AM
Collect most of them but trade very few..

06-06-2009, 11:49 AM
Couple of games I traded but this lot I have I will keep playing.
Games like COD and Saints Row Ill never get rid of.

06-06-2009, 11:57 AM
if Im gonna play it again I keep, if Im not I trade

same. I trade in every one apart from really brilliant ones life L4D, even though i have 1000/1000 on L4D

06-06-2009, 12:11 PM
I keep all of my 360 games whether I play them or not. Only ever traded one 360 game in and it was Just Cause. (Traded it with a friend for Forza 2)

Deadly Moves
06-06-2009, 12:19 PM
Games i really like and will continue to play, i keep. if i dont fancy playing it again, i trade it in
I tend to rent games i know i wont keep now. saves alot of money

06-06-2009, 12:19 PM
I keep all of them. If I wanted to trade them back in, I'd just rent them. Buying a game, beating it, and trading it back in is a terrible economic move. It's why Gamestop thrives though.

This exactly. You lose so much money trading games in. If it's a game for achievements only (like a sports game) I'll either rent them or wait a couple years till they're dirt cheap (for example, I got NHL 06/07 both for $2 apiece)

My friend wants to buy my CoD4 off me. Since I don't play multiplayer and have already beaten the game on vet he sees no point in me owning it if I'll never play it. Thing is, I may play it again down the road. Especially if I were to somehow lose this tag

06-06-2009, 12:53 PM
Never trade games

06-06-2009, 01:21 PM
Never trade games I generally try to avoid trading unless I really dont like the game anymore like when I traded Assassins Creed and Burnout Paradise.
I intend to build on my impressive set of 20 games, havent even had my xbox for a year and I got 20 games :D

06-06-2009, 04:47 PM
I'm not the gamer who buys a game while it's still $60, it's not something I can afford to do. I buy games well after their release when very good deals are available. At that point, the trade-in value is usually so low that I usually think it's better to keep the game. That, and I generally have a hard time getting rid of things.

After i saw the collections that you guys have here i decided to keep all my games lol.

Nerotic Shadows
06-07-2009, 01:14 AM
I generally mix between the two, it depends on various things; how much I enjoyed it, if I'd get any replay value from it and if much else is out to trade it for.

KNUCKS x360a
06-07-2009, 01:31 AM
I keep all of them these days, you just get robbed if you buy new games & trade them off later for half their value... to the same store!.

I buy all the big games, your CoD's, GoW's, FO3's and such, then just Rent the crappier games for the points...

06-07-2009, 01:33 AM
I keep most of my games i think i only sold one to gamecrazy lol

06-07-2009, 01:49 AM
I don't think I've every had more that 6 games at a time. I sell games all the time. Variety is the spice of life.

06-07-2009, 01:59 AM
I pay 21.99 for the Blockbuster thing. I buy sports games and rock band, other than that, I just rent it till i get 1000, then trade it for a new 1. so since im in the middle, i shall abstain from voting

06-07-2009, 02:57 AM
Nah, I keep 'em. Partly because of the achievement thing. I would probably get rid of a few, but I just can't bring myself to sell or give away any games if there's any achievements left to be earned.

Beside, I don't want to encourage or support the used-game market. Not with the way things are working right now.

06-07-2009, 03:06 AM
I think I've kept every single 360 game I've bought. Ive priced up trade-ins but its usually daylight robbery for games not worth keeping.

06-07-2009, 07:29 AM
After completion, the game will never see my 360 again (90% of the time)

06-07-2009, 01:48 PM
i return the game and exchange it for an equivalent value if i finish the game within 10 days if more than 10 days i trade it. but if the game is good multiplayer wise or an rpg i ll be playing it for months. ( COD4 MW, FABLE 2, OBLIVION, GOW 1 and 2 etc.)

thank god for gamestation return policy.

06-07-2009, 01:52 PM
I sold my SNES and games to buy an N64 when I was a kid. HUGE mistake that I will never make again. I keep all my games now, with the possible exception of my Wii. I just don't like it, and the only reason I have held onto it this long is Twilight Princess.

06-07-2009, 04:04 PM
Depends, i trade some and keep some.

06-07-2009, 05:54 PM
I save my games because I know I'll just get ripped off if I try and trade them in.

06-07-2009, 07:52 PM
I am a huge pack-rat. I've got video games up the wazoo from NES through 360.

06-07-2009, 10:52 PM
I keep them, although I wouldnt consider that as collecting them...

JeS 87193
06-07-2009, 11:29 PM
Bad economic value? I don't think so...to a point. If you have no intention on playing a game again and it's just going to sit on your shelf, collecting dust, then that's bad economic value. That's $20-$30 (or sometimes more) sitting on your shelf never to be touched or spent. It could be put toward a new release that you really enjoy and ends up costing half-price. I'm sorry, but if I'm never going to touch my copy of Fallout 3 or Resident Evil 5 again, it makes sense to trade them in and get my copy of Ghostbusters, Batman: Arkham Asylum or Prototype for free.

I understand if you're a collector that you want to keep all your games, but trading in games can be worthwhile. Getting $30 back on your investment means that game only cost you half of what it originally did and it gets you the latest and greatest games coming out.

06-07-2009, 11:34 PM
I'm poor, so I sell them. Only time I get new games are from special occasions or money where I have traded in games : /

06-08-2009, 12:19 AM
It really depends :)
i mean games like Assassins Creed i'll try and 100% and then keep it
games like The Simpsons, i finished and traded it in :)

06-08-2009, 12:28 AM
I've only ever traded in TDU and FNR3... I keep all mine now, the prices game shops offer is ridiculous.

I collect of them, because i'm not playing for gamerscore. :locked

For me i keep all my 360 games and sell my ps3 and wii games.

Nozza XBA
06-08-2009, 03:15 PM
I selected trade but im a bit of both. i keep the games i love or are fun to play ( love=bioshock, fun CoD4 MP)

i only trade whn iv brought a game and i know im not gonna play it much once completed so it doesnt bother me to get rid of it...or if i dont have the money lol.

But iv always keep classics. iv still got N64 Zelda OoT and MM (gold cartrige) Goldeneye Banjo1-2 donkey kong, ps1 FF8, gamecube games, ps2 etc. ill keep them for rest of my life along with the memory cards i have with them with all the competed data...my childhood hard work is all on them!!!

06-08-2009, 03:24 PM
I've only gotten the full gamerscore on a miniscule amount of the games I actually own. I rent all of my gamerscore games except for the Guitar Hero's, so I guess I keep them. I just trade in my shit games.

Rowey 94
06-08-2009, 03:38 PM
i never sell any games.. always keep them.. i like to have a massive stack.
ive got like 100+ now :D

06-08-2009, 04:13 PM
i am a collector for sure. many games that havent been played for a long time.

06-08-2009, 04:28 PM
I trade some games for others, some I sell, and some I give to my brother so he can try them out. Some games I keep at home to myself though.

06-08-2009, 05:01 PM
I keep them all - something I find that can happen that hasn't been mentioned here is that sometimes I will beat a game's solo missions/campaign and never look at it again, but then I will have a friend visit from out of town and suddenly that game's co-op mode is a viable additional source of fun that can be experienced repeatedly (especially since most games still don't have online co-op). You never know when that might be an option...

06-08-2009, 05:02 PM
I trade them back when I know I'll never play with them again. $20 is better than nothing.

06-08-2009, 11:37 PM
I keep mine since most of the games I completed I bought.

06-08-2009, 11:47 PM
I used to sell and trade my games in order to buy new ones, but once I got a job with decent pay, I didn't have to trade them in anymore. Now I keep every game I buy, even when I think I'm completely done with it. You never know, 6 months from now, I might want to play Condemned again, or one of my friends might want to borrow it, or anything.

Besides, I love looking at my game collection on my desk, which once used to be tiny and is now 19 or 20 games high :D

06-08-2009, 11:52 PM
I'm going to be a long time 360 gamer so I keep them.

Ry Fryy
06-09-2009, 01:24 AM
I keep some, sell others. Depends on if I'll ever want to play them again in the future.

06-09-2009, 03:43 AM
I'd say 95% of the games I bought I keep. There are some that I've traded in but hey, you can't beat the Buy 2 Get 1 @ GameStop when they run those specials. Most if not all my games are used games.

Admiral Axtell
06-09-2009, 04:53 AM
If I think im going to continue playing it i keep it (like guitar hero 3 for example) but if im done with it i trade it off via Goozex.com or maybe sometimes gamestop if they have a special promotion.

06-09-2009, 04:59 AM
I definitely try to hold onto all my games, especially 360. I don't like trading things in because I tend to be a collector (or hoarder, whatever you want to call it :P) but I tend to go back and play games even after they're finished. That being said I only buy games I know I like or am going to, generally I test it out by renting it first or if it's from a company that have done well to me in the past (square-enix) but all games in my collection are games I like.

06-09-2009, 05:22 AM
I lay all my games out on the floor every few weeks and choose the unlucky ones that I don't play anymore. But if there is any small chance that I'll play a game in the future, I keep it.

Jappe XBA
06-09-2009, 05:38 AM
Usually I trade them for new games, but I have now about 50 retails in my shelf and I don't know how they got up there

06-09-2009, 06:09 AM
I buy most of my games cheap and end up reselling them when I'm done to get some more games. There are a few games that I buy to keep even after I play. Might as well get something out of a game you know you won't play again.
