Here is a list of predicted achievements... we'll see how many of them I get right & how many walk the plank!

- Fall off the precipice and die in Monkey Island(TM).
- Destroy your ship with the Primitive Art.
- Drown when Fester (GPLC) throws you off the pier!
- Speak to Cobb or say 'I'm Bobbin, are you my mummy?' when fired out of the cannon. (Loom reference)
- Learn all 16 insult/retorts before fighting Carla.
- Find that stump joke!
- Beat Carla without losing a point.
- Put everything into the cooking pot, but still manage to fire yourself onto Monkey Island(TM).
- Navigate the caves without using the Navigator Head.
- Then the obvious; complete Parts 1, 2, 3 & Final Part.

Can anyone think of anything else LucasArts could tease us with?

EDIT: A couple more...

- Spiffy!!!
- Don't use any hints to complete the game. (This was hinted at in the G******T video.)

-carry grog using 3 or less cups
-hear all 124 missed interpretations of the expression "Guybrush Threepwood"
-talk to Stan less than 3 times

Damn, I wish this was a 1000 :(

If you use the side-door (left of the archway when you get to town, where the Men of Dubious Morals are) and use the short-cut to the clock-tower, you might be able to do the Grog Mug challenge in 2! (I do need to verify this once I've finished Grim Fandango... but I'm stuck in Rubacava, so it might be a while!)

If M$ are exceptionally nice to LucasArts (or vice versa) they might give us 15 achieves for 250GP! That'd be sooooo dang good!

Im not sure weather the stump joke will be in this version, i no it was removed when they put the game on cd obviously because it asked you for different numbered disks which was'nt relavent anymore.

Has for Achievements ideas.

Find the treasure of Melee Island without a map.
Talk to all avaliable characters
Blow up the dam without using the canonball. (list of possible ways below)
1. Instead of using the flint with the cannonball, you can also use the lens you get by opening the spyglass with the sun and light the gunpowder that way.

2. You can also place the gunpower on the dam and then use the flint with the entire spyglass. That will also blow up the dam.

3. You can also use the flint with the staple remover to create a spark.

"Secret Achievement" and "Secret Achievement" look easy, but "Secret Achievement" is going to be a pain in the ass to get!

No offense to FoxGuy3001, but 'Secret Achievement' is WELL EASY! I could do that achievement with my eyes closed, both hands cut off and shipped to Peru, my brain removed (no real change there) and my legs used as drumsticks for a Status Quo gig! No problem!
I think it's 'Secret Achievement' that'll fox people the most. There's only so much Secret you can get out of the Achievement before it explodes in your face and you have to start the game from the beginning again.

Thoughts?

I think it's bloody brilliant, Lucasarts games as we know and love them, filled with secrets.

Monkey Island can't come soon enough! :(

An interesting thread on the LUCASARTS forum.
http://forums.lucasarts.com/thread.jspa?threadID=138500&tstart=25

The post of note is from JEDIMUDKIP, who confirms that there are achievements for beating the game in olde and new modes. Maybe the 45g achievement is completing SoMI:SE in BOTH modes?

Hmm but can't you switch back and forth on a whim? Couldn't you just save before then ending and just reload and switch?

Anyway I think there should be an achievement called But I didn't for choosing the line "Never spend more then 20 bucks on a computer game". That's assuming it's not 20 bucks, or maybe Something along the lines of More like 1600 space bucks if it is.

Anyway, secret achievement is going to be a pain without a mouse and keyboard, but secret achievementis basically the give away to bait someone into buying the game during the trail.

The game is called THE SECRET OF MONKEY ISLAND, so of course the achievements are going to be secrets as well!

Might try and upload the game and see if the DOS version CD rom version works on vista.

Is it true that if the game sells well they might remaster MI2? I think that game is better then the first IMO.

That's what LucasArts are hoping for at least. And myself, of course!
I also like MI2 better, it's one of my favorite games of all times!

Try finding the Sword Master and Buried Treasure without assistance. I'm guessing those are two of them.

It does not, time only runs when ingame. I'm sure you've already discovered that by now however.

Not quite achievement discussion but I don't feel it appropriate to make a thread for it:

Does anyone know the factors on endgame score? Time complete is obviously one, but there must be others or they'd simply have completion times as the ranking system.

I achieved Rank 29, and would like to get into the top 10, but am reluctant to do so until I know what I need to do to better my score.

pretty unrelated to anything, but,
does anybody else think that, rather than calling it "old school"
they should have called it "going 'back' in time"

when i found out about this achievement, that song popped into my head immediately, now it won't leave me alone :(
