1. There already exists another thread about this (maybe even two at the most).

2. It's pretty much certain that it will be carried over. I doubt MS would be dumb enough to have us start over with out GS, that would probably affect their sales of the new console.

i'm sure it would, they should call the new xbox: Xbox Revolution. Xbox 720 sounds crap it just doesn't have that same effect as 360

it definitely will

This has been discussed, we all assume that it will, but nobody can say for certain.

There is also a thread discussing possible names for the next Xbox. I personally like Xbox Ascendant, but we all have our own preferences, nobody knows yet. We all hope not 720 though.

Yeah Like Thingy Said...
It WOuld Really Affect The Sales Of The New Xbox If
They Restart Our Gamerscore.

Hopefully They Dont... If They Do , What A Big Mistake They Have Made

they will probably allow people to transfer gamertags to the new console like you can from one xbox to another.

The gamnerscore we have here now?..will defenetely be carried on to the next console..well I'm very sure i guess..and for names?..i don't have a freaking clue tbh! ;)

Think about it. The Xbox LIVE that existed on the original console is the same one now on the 360. Why would they start a separate service with the next one?

It's just that a GS was added when the 360 began. Perhaps there will be an additional "stat" with the next generation as well.

Personally, I'm 99% sure that gamerscore will carry over. Like everyone said, why would they change what is in honesty, the main selling point of their console and their service?

And who knows what they'll call it? Console naming is getting pretty random now days.

Use the search function...there are a variety of other threads about this.

I do think that it will carry ovet to next XBOX whatever it will be, I doubt we will see it for a long time with project natal and other hardware developments

I think gamerscore should be carried over. Personally I don't hope for a new console because my mum wont buy me another console :(

Although no one here knows with 100% certainty, it will most definitely carry over. Achievements/gamerscore is a lot of the reason why shitty DLC sells and multiplat games do better on the 360. The system brings them in a LOT of money, so they'd be retarded to stop. Plus, for achievement junkies like the many on this site, taking it away would mean sticking with the 360, which would mean lower console sales for the next box.

This topic doesn't matter and i'll explain why. Mayans predicted the end of the world in 2012. The 5 year lifespan of consoles have the new console showing up around 2012. M$ has already stated they think they can extend the life of the current console past the normal "5 year" lifespan placing any new console after 2012, after the end of the world. :p

enjoy your LAST gaming system guys ;)

I'm certain I started a thread just like this one a year or so ago.

From what I've heard, your gamerscore will def. transfer.

Life expectancy of the 360 is 2015, so i would enjoy the 360 while you can to be honest, and let Microsoft worry about everything else! 99% sure gamerscore will continue though...

Definately, it's one of the best perks Microsoft has on the 360 so there's no way they are going to ditch this.

I'm going to try to apply some reasoning to this.
-gamerscore started on the 360
-gamerscore was later added to the pc with some Games for Windows
-not all 360 games use gamerscore (community games), but most do
-not all Games for Windows have gamerscore, but most of them are starting to
-gamerscore keeps changing, first 1000 cap, then 1250, now 1750 (?)
Based on the points that I just brought up, it does not appear that gamerscore is some exclusive thing linked to the xbox 360. Instead microsoft is adding it to more devices and being a lot more "lax" with it. So why would they stop what they are doing. What I could imagine for the next console is that they would continue with gamerscore but at the same time I could see them changing it (possibly a 2000 cap?).

Oh and at an earlier post (or a few?) of course their going to allow you to recover your account on the next console, they did from the original to the xbox360.

Last and certainly least:p, I can imagine gamerscore/achievements changing a lot more before then anyways, isn't microsoft saying (or was saying at E3?) that the 360 was supposed to have a ten year life?

EDIT: Oh, missed part of Jamie's post there, thanks for confirming in my mind the long life thing. :)

You also missed the part where you can get achievements from listening to music on your Zune. AS its not linked directly to gamertags per say you can still get some on there called "Artist Name" Bronze Power listener" and such.

And didn't gamertags carry over from the original xbox to the 360.. granted of course gamerscore had just been introduced and original xbox games did not have any.

Im pretty sure it will carry over. Even Microsoft would'nt be stupid enough to reset gamerscore :P
As for the name, I still think its a long time off, doubt they even thought of the final one yet.

I might be the only one but I don't want it to be carried over. I understand that people worked hard to get their scores but this is a new console and I feel that it should be a new start. Basically, my OCD won't let me transfer achievements unless I have 100% in every game and I do not.

06-08-2009, 03:10 PM
Well, i see no reason why they wouldn't move it over because it's a good thing, why take it away.
Plus there probably won't be a new xbox till 2015 so don't sweat over it now.

Well MS is hoping that the 360 will last to 2015. I don't really want to worry about stuff like this till I have to.

When a new xbox comes out if you transfer your gamercard to new xbox you should be able to have a free name change to start with a fresh name

Since gamerscore/achievements has influenced "trophies" for the PS3 and achievements for Steam games, it's undeniable that they'll keep it from now on.

Evil Demon55
06-14-2009, 03:37 AM
Why would they make another console, not includiong money profits? They can do anything they want with the 360. Add new dumb dashboards, fixing it here. Thing they cannot do is fix system problems.

It will carry over, Gamescore is already multi-platform, (XBL and GFWL) and it would make no sense to drop a multi-platform system becasue ones of the platforms is upgraded.

And as has been pointed out theres a thread like this at least once a month.
