I was browsing around IGN and found this article. I wasn't aware that they were now doing this because I haven't had to send in my new Xbox 360 yet. *crosses fingers*

I didn't even realise that Microsoft sent boxes out for you. I've sent my 360 for repairs on three occasions now, and have always followed the "new rule" that is in place now. Thanks for the find. :)

Pfft, I've been doing that for ages... Maybe it's just Australia who had the 'supply your own coffin' policy.

I had to supply my own 'coffin' when it died a year ago.

They sent me an extra one last time (January '09). The first one had been mis-delivered and I called them up before the neighbor brought over my original "coffin" box. Now it's like I have 2 in waiting. I kept the one they eventually sent my repaired unit in also. :)

So they've delivered a repaired/replacement unit 4 previous times and you've kept none of the empty boxes??? Seems that keeping at least one around would cut down the time it takes for MS to send you another. Just e-mail them for a shipping label next time.

Good thing I've been keeping the box they sent from my Xbox's last trip to the morgue.

There's a small thing they didn't mention in that article. At least in the US, if you are on your third repair or greater, they will overnight you a coffin with a shipping label inside to overnight it back to them.

When I did a repair 1-2 months ago, it was labeled as "Third Or Greater Repair" and was underneath the other two options (print a label or have them mail you a label. I just set up another repair last night at about 9:30 PDT and it was labeled as "Expedited Shipping." My coffin is set to arrive today.

It seems that the more your 360 breaks, the faster they react to repairs.

Once you've came in a box, you may want to throw that box away, that's nasty...

No actually i kept all my boxes from the previous replacements, but they wanted me to print out a purlator/ups slip, which for some reason didn't come through to my email. I called them up and they then realized that this was my 5th replacement now, they expedited my case and i had a box on the 31st of may, i recieved my new xbox on the 3rd of june. You wont belive me as others haven't, but its the truth, 4 days! And all my others were about an average of 3 weeks.
