Is there a way I could buy, say 12 one month subscriptions from microsoft and stack them to be used one at a time?

I'm pretty sure you can. Just keep on using the 12 one month subscriptions. They should stack up

They should automatically do that. For example, if you put in 2 12 month cards, then you're good for 24 months.

You can have your account on monthly billing which would charge you each month the price of $7.99+tax. Is this what you really want to do?

You realize there are places that sell an entire 12-month subscription for $40.

I haven't even put in a card I just signed up and haven't even gotten the message that says that I am almost done with my subscription ever since

well, I was wondering if you could pay through the xbox, not through cards, Right now there's a special for 1 month of Gold for $1. So that would be 12 months for 12. You see where I'm going with this.

The $1 for a month of Gold offer is only available via Xbox Live, so when you buy it, it's tied to your gamertag. Also, with that offer, once the month is up it automatically charges your card for the next eleven months at the standard price unless you opt out of it.

That's what I was wanting to know. Thank you.

I set it up to use my card for a while but when I stopped playing there is no way to turn off automatic charges on the x-box 360 or the xbox website to discourage people canceling which seems very shady especially the 45 minute plus phone call with a call center in India. I highly recommend just driving to the store to buy the subscription card to avoid the hastle. Plus if you were to buy 1 month cards you could choose to not renew one month if you aren't going to be able to play much

Read the small print. That is an introductory price for Silver accounts only. At the end of the 1 month you are renewed for another month or year (whichever renewal you choose). I saw that today in my e-mails that are tied to a few Silver accounts that I have. I've not logged into those Gamertags thru the console but I assume it is probably advertised on those dashboards as well.
