I was interested in getting Guitar Hero II but the thing that's putting my off is the guitar itself.

It looks amazing but it's that wire! And what if they release a wireless guitar for Guitar Hero III? The non-wireless would be a waste of money in the end.

Anyone else feel the same?

I really dont mind the cord just as long as it reaches across the room so i dont have to sit right up on my TV but even if it is wired its still a definite buy!

Me are guitarist...been playing for 14 years, and playing this thing is nothing like playing the real guitar Zef. I just hope they release a wireless guitar or else I'll wait.

Everybody was having a lot of problems with their wireless controller on PS2, so just get the hell over it. :uzi:

Damn I was wanting a wireless, but I'm still getting it. Guess I can't break a nude powerslide for the wife now.

The advantage of this controller over the Wii-mote is that if you are playing the game at night and someone sees you playing from behind it doesn't look pornographic at all.

I'll have to set up a spot to do some powerslides...

Well, having played guitar in countless bands, I would rather the guitar be corded. I'm just used to that anyway seeing how I would run to a processor and then to the amp. It just feels right being corded...

Red Octane has released a wireless first party controller for the PS2, possibly they will do the same thing for the 360

unfortunately pretty doubtful because microsoft is super protective of their wireless technology...thats why there aren't any 3rd party wireless controllers

Thank you, when I had my PS2, I had to play with a wire for the longest time. To be honest, I was glad to have a wireless controller, not bothering to throw it away. The fact that the X-Plorer controller isn't wireless doesn't scream "Don't Buy The Game!" Both Guitar Hero 1 and 2 came packaged with wired controllers, yet they still came out with wireless controllers for it. That just means be happy with the controller you get, and hope you get a wireless one. Yes, Microsoft is not letting anyone touch their wireless technology, but maybe when they see how much Guitar Hero 2 sells for the 360 (the PS2 version is still selling strong, released in November with Gears), they might change their mind. If you choose not to buy the game because of the controler, all I have to say is that you're missing out on a wonderful game.

I played the PS2 since it came out. I was one of the first people to get it, waiting in that line.

The PS2, if I am not sadly mistaken, came out somewhere in 2000-2002 (too lazy to check), so that means anywhere from 7-5 years, I have been playing vigerously with a wired controller. When I got the 360, I was attracted, turning on the 360 from downstairs, and letting it get to the game-menu by the time I come upstairs- being able to move freely without dragging my console, putting my controller wherever, carrying it with me to make sure my friends can't steal it to play-

A wired GHII guitar will be odd for me, since I play a wireless guitar (real :p ), but after playing PS2 for so long, it wont be so different. It will suck not to have so much freedom, and you will see those "ROCKIN' OUT TOO HARD" messages often, but in the end- it will work out.

We always have Razzleson to make a wireless one, too!

the only way there will be a wireless guitar is if microsoft makes one, they dont want a 3rd party company making anything wireless for the 360.

Oh yeah, I forgot how they get with their tech. Oh well though, it's not like real guitars don't have a cord or something.

hey man, don't whine, in the UK it's going for about 65 pounds with online retailers, that's about $130 with the current exchange rate!!!

why are people not going to buy this badass game (especially when it constantly going to be updated through d/l content) just because its 10 dollars more than ps2. Most 360 games are 10 dollars more anyways so it shouldn't be a surprise. Besides, if u spend 5 minutes with this game you will soon learn it is worth every penny.

This is only my opinion but I think having a USB guitar will be nice to have. Will get to play Frets on fire with a guitar now which means more play time for me, cause theres basically unlimited songs on there! I also preordered an extra guitar from EB Games the other day and the second guitar came up as WRLS. Not sure if this means it is going to be wireless or not just that its in their database as that.

The only real let down to this game is no online multiplayer. The wired controller would have been nice, but M$ sucks.

I'm glad there's no online MP... the slightest hint of latency and EVERYTHING is fucked. And if they threw it in despite that fact I'd be *trying* to play online with my friends all of the time and be constantly pissed off.

BTW has anyone seen the effects pedals they're releasing for the game/know anything about them?

xfrancox
03-22-2007, 07:35 PM
Thats true but I guess I just expect game developers and the fine people at Xbox Live to have their shit together. Probably a mistake on my part, haha.

I havent heard anything about the pedals, but Im interested.

EDIT: This is all I really found. http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/09/guitar-hero-distortion-pedals-on-the-way/

I'll see if I can plug in my real Gibson Explorer, don't think it will be compatible though. But maybe the X-plorer will feel so familiar I'll finally be able to beat Hangar 18 on expert.

I doubt it...;)

The Gibson Model of the Explorer is a bit heavy for a youngin'...;)

I'm having trouble seeing why most of you are in dabate about a chord. As you all act as thought you've never played with one before.

In all honesty, I play this game 100x beter while sitting.

Yeah, it's actually my dad's :D.

I also play the game sitting. And wires don't really detract from the experience at all. Didn't we enjoy games just as much on the NES with a wired controller?

This info needs to be sited, because last that was announced, Microsoft was not letting RedOctaine release any wireless technology until AFTER the game was out and established.

Even then, they had plans on letting Microsoft do the guitar with them.

Is the cord on top going to affect the person playing the game? If so, I'm going to be pissed.

Not unless you plan holding the chord, lol.

I'm not too sure how a chord on the far left is going to affect your strumming or fretting on the right.

^ First off fix the link, you put in http twice . . .

I don't think we'll see a wireless controller for a while. Microsoft needs to see just how successful this game is first, but c'mon the words GUITAR HERO are enough for anyone that's heard of it to consider getting it. Then, they put out a survey, asking whether or not the people want a wireless or not. If all of this pulls through, Microsoft let's Redoctane use their wireless technology exclusively for their game. But once again, Microsoft may be too protective as they have been already, I highly doubt they will give it up even after all of the success Guitar Hero II will have . . .
:uzi:MS . . . Just give it up, don't turn into F***in' Apple . . . :p

Well, as an add on, I'm going to suck at this game because I've played this game only once at a friend's house and got like 58% accuracy on it. :( I still can't wait to play it though, with or without a cord in the way because I love guitar and this game looks great. :)

I cant wait for this game, dont care about it being wireless... only time that would come in handy is during drunken playing sessions with mates, stops people tripping over wires and fucking up game/spilling beer... happened many a time for me lol :P
