Horizontal.

Vertical is bad for the system and creates the ring of death on 90% of the games.

This holds true for the PS2 as well. Vertical is bad news.

This information is wrong. The system will only create the ring of death IF you move your console while a game is inside and turned on. I do believe this happens as well when lying Horizontal. The console was designed to be vertical.

I don't like vertical. it does not match my other components for my stereo system. I can see someone using vertical though if they have space problems, but I would never use it.

Thats not right you cant get the ring from moving it you just get it from having a faulty system

Vertical for me 8) and ive had no problems to date and that includes ps2 i even avoided the ring of death when i accidentally kicked my 360 over while a disk was spinning :-\

I have my system laying flat. Had it standing up, but thought it was unstable. So, I turned it on the side and the xbox scrached my game. I was able to return it.

Umm yes it is right, I did it. There is even a caution section on xbox.com that states you should not move your console while a disc is in it and turned on.

horizontal, becuz mines on a wooden chair for ventilation, and i no my little sisters or little brother will accidentally knock it over if its verticle.

The console was designed to be vertical.

But the Disc Tray wasn't.

Why do you think Sony changed the setup when they re-released the PS2 in smaller form? Because of heavy complaining that the tray, vertical, allowed graviy to take its toll on the disc when it would stop spinning. This was information given to me by our local Sony Rep. durring my time at Game Crazy.

ya no kidding verticle is stupid ,horizontal is much better for air flow and easier to put discs in

Vertical here all the way.
I always thought that Vertical was better airflow?
There's vents at the top and bottom on either end, so 4 vents in all.
When you place is horizontal it covers up two of them does it not?
I'm just going off what I see when I look at the system so I could be wrong.

Good points, nto sure if they are real or not but if they are very good, i might stand mine up if i get this Lara croft face plate...just for fun

I haven't seen that many face plates, really only the launch ones.
Is there a link for a site that has pictures of them?
And to stay on topic what's the average ratio between Vertical, Horizontal and Universal face plates?

scoobydiesel

I have made a request for x360a(this site for anyone that goes to the other urls?) to have a page with as many faceplates as possible.

there are more faceplates laying down that i have seen unless you look at standard color ones, but like the game promo ones iv seen have mostly ben laying down.

I'm hoping some come out for a few of my favorite bands because I'm not too fond of any of the faceplates I've seen.

Vertical. My last 360 scratched every game I played while horizontal. When I switched to vertical, the scratched dissappeared. Now I just leave it vertical cuz it looks cool

Or make your own!

http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=69

I bought this thing last week and I HATED IT..
(just my personal opinion)

The package says CHROME BASEPLATE.
(So I didnt even bother to ACTUALLY look at the faceplate. I just bought it..LoL..

Then I got home and was ready to INSTALL it only to find out the ONLY part of the baseplate that is CHROME is the POWER button.. So the memory slots and the USB slots are GREY no matter what...

It just looked CHEEZZY to me..
But as I said its just my personal opinon.

(The fact that you can PRINT your own faceplate is a GOOD idea, they just should have spent a couple more seconds thinking about the COLOR SCHEME)

PeAcE

PS~ My 360 is standing VERTICAL.... and its STABLE... I was getting GAME FREEZES VERY OFTEN about a week ago. But I bought the NYKO Intercooler and my problems slowed down a bit..

Not true. If you move your console while a game is running you wont get a rng of death, it just scratches the disk, usually beyond repair. I found his out the hard way!

Laying Flat. Only because when I had it Vertically my 360 would scratch my discs. Now it doesn't scratch any.
