i was just thinking; whats the deal with Arcadia?

Why is it so common that games have a city called Arcadia/Arkadia?
just of the top of my head:

the Penny Arcade-games have a city called New Arcadia
Dragon Quest: Journey of the cursed king has a city named Arcadia
and there's the old Gamecube/Saturn game Skies of Arcadia
and if i'm not mistaken one of the a Fire Emblem games have a city called Arcadia

i'm sure there's a lot more games with Arcadia out there. why?
Whats the story behind it?

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is set in 'Ancaria', which is quite similar. :p

I believe Arcadia is part of Greece...

That doesn't really mean anything, but that is all I know about it, lol.

Arcadia, Arkadía (Greek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_language): Αρκαδία), or Arcady is a region of Greece (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greece) in the Peloponnesus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peloponnesus). It takes its name from the mythological character Arcas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcas).

Well there you have it. ;)

yup, it's related to mythology. many developers like to use names from mythology for characters/places in games. gives it a cool feel lol
