You can strum or use the solo buttons, but if you can't use them, don't worry about it.

P.S. I use 4 and sometimes 5 and my elbow.(barely beat the TTFaF intro but still can't beat the song.)

To add on to what was said;

On a Rock Band guitar, the Strat, you can use the Solo Buttons at the bottom (Or is it the top? I'm pretty sure the bottom is called the top on a guitar...) of the neck and you won't have to strum any notes. It's very awkward for most people though, so you might as well just play them like regular notes with the bigger Fret Buttons.

I just play the solo portions like I would any other part of the song. You do not have to strum if you are using the solo buttons, but I usually lose points when moving my hand down the neck. Those buttons are also pretty small...

I never use solo buttons. I use 7 fingers and 3 hands.

Daaaaamn!! thats like 7x3=21 You have 21 fingers but you only use 7?? WHats wrong with you?

On-Topic: I think its impossible to do with 3 fingers, im way to use to 4

Well I only have 7 per hand, using 14 would be too cheap.

I always use the solo buttons, so I don't have to make the awkward transition and can have easier solos. For me, the regular buttons feel really strange, and I can't use them very well at all. But, yeah, use solo buttons to not strum in solos.
