http://www.gamersreports.com/news/4966/120gig-black-xbox360-with-hdmi-official/

Just yesterday our inside source gave us a tip that Microsoft Australia has told a store named Myer to prepare the store for a Black 360 with a 120GB hard drive in April. Well day 2 of product knowledge today (Brisbane, Australia) featured Microsoft themselves and it's now 100% official that the Black 360, (with black controller), 120gb hard drive and HDMI (http://www.gamersreports.com/news/4966/120gig-black-xbox360-with-hdmi-official/#) is due out in Australia for $749 AU in April. They will try to push this forward to late March to deter buyers from the March 23 PS3 (http://www.gamersreports.com/news/4966/120gig-black-xbox360-with-hdmi-official/#) launch. Hopefully we see this good news sometime in Europe and USA. Should you take it as a grain of salt or not, whats your thoughts?

I'd love a black 360 with matching controllers, but doubt i'd bother selling my existing one just for a colour change and larger HD - I don't store tunes nor movies on it. HDMI on the other hand is another matter, i'd swap for that without a second thought.

Why would they release it in Australia first? It could be Microsoft trying to cash in on the Aussie market like they did with Japan, but it just sounds a little too good to be true.

Whenever someone says they have 'an inside source' it could just be Jerome the Microsoft sandwich boy who heard the words 'Black','HDMI' and 'Australia' on his rounds of floor 3.

If it is true, then I feel like an upgrade is in order. A sleek new 360 would be better than simply buying a new hard drive and finding somewhere to stash the old one.

I would only trade it in if it was quieter, less prone to freezing, and a reasonable trading program was put in place.

$749 AU= $615.72.
Thats the same as a ps3.
No. Just no.
All i want is a bigger harddrive, maybe 50 gigs?

*Is it just me, or is Zef one of the funniest guys here...I love you buddy!

Uh, HDMI would be great, especially if they start pushing developers to shoot for 1080p, since it seems they're content with 720p. Black is sexy, but if Microsoft is so user savvy with customizable faceplates and skins, they should come out with a model in every color...I'd go with hot pink!

The big hard drive would rock, but this guy needs to have built in HD-DVD capabilities so we don't have to get a black matching add on...

its a really cool idea, but that so much extra money for a different color and a bigger hdd, granted it is a much bigger hdd... but i wonder how many people actually really need one that big? i think it would have been better if they released a black 360 with the regular 20gb hdd and then released seperated hdd in various sizes based on what people needed/wanted to have.

Boo hoo. 120 GB HDD.. I'd like that.. A lot. :( Won't there be a probalem w/ transferring data, though? A Black Xbox 360 is sweet, but black controllers would look bad.

HDMI; I need that, lol. 1080p would look insane.

If those rumors are true; that they get 120GB HDDs and Black 360s/HDMI, then I guess we got the shaft.. 20GB is going to be little in a few years (since the formatted version gives you 13GB).. With 40GB, you're probably 100% guaranteed to have enough space. And it's a lower price.

However, they had no pics.

well everyone would have to get a transfer thingy that puts everything from your hdd onto your computer, then transfer it back over to your new hdd. I think they cost like $20 or $30. If every current owner bought one.....Jesus microsoft would make so much money just by fucking us over.

...and a reasonable trading program was put in place.

I would buy the thing without hesitation either way, but a sweet deal on a trade-up would make it a day-1 must-have! God let it be true!

Well it's going to have the new CPU, HDMI, 120GB, and it's black.
But if they sold the 120GB seperately I don't even want to know the price. It's probably high.

Just in case no one knows, Virtua Tennis 3 will be the first 1080p game on the 360. It will be true 1080p.

That was true up until yesterday, Perp. It appears EA will beat SEGA by one month when they release NBA Street Homecourt in full 1080p glory.

Hmm, I wouldn't have 1080p via HDMI available, but playing ANYTHING over HDMI yields a noticeable improvement and sound.

Ohh 1080p games for the 360 now. Damn. So I guess it looks like HDMI 360 is coming.

I'll be the guy that buys the HDD...then grabs some plastic spray paint to paint my own 360 and controller.

Now I just need to find the right torx driver for my controller screws.

Freezing is what gets me the most with the 360. I will beat something, and then it will freeze. Making me do it all over again.

My 360 doesn't freeze much *knocks on wood* but when it does, it's always annoying.

Like when I've played Oblivion for three hours straight without saving and it freezes when I try to fast travel to sell all of my loot.

not necasarily since 1080p can be achieved by the VGA adapter.

Well, on the back of Lost Planet, it says 1080p. Wonder what that is.

No one is talking about needs/wants being that they make the new console have the HD-DVD support built it. Sure, It would be kick ass to get a new color, larger HDD, HDMI, but without HD-DVD playback, it's like they forgot about something.

Knowing the big M, they would probably then have a silver 360 come out with all of the above listed features, just with HD-DVD and charge 2,000,000 for it...I say if you're gunna upgrade everything, don't forget about the new drive, who wants to tote around that attachment forever? Upgrade everything, that's what I'm talkin' bout.

If i'm not wrong HDMI provides quality then VGA no? Same thing as VGA vs Component.

Hdmi and vga both output the same resolution so they are the same but people think that hdmi is better for some reason but its the same really.

Shadoww, HDMI is a completely digital connection. The picture is slightly better, but VGA and HDMI are different. HDMI is the stuff at the movie theater, VGA is a computer monitor. It's a choice of what you like.

Also, HDMI can carry MUCH better audio by itself, and is capable of 7.1 surround.

I think its pointless...I cant even fill up 20GB let alone 120. I already blew my $$$$ on a PS3 anyway.:locked

i take it you dont download alot of stuff from the marketplace? myself, i only have like 5-8 gigs left so i really hope to see a 120 gig HDD soon, hopefully they'll make the 120 gig HDD's to be sold separately so i wont have to buy a whole new 360 just to get the HDD, as for the ps3 im trying to save money to get one myself lol

Heh, my 20gb hard drive is too small to hold all my xbox downloaded content and saves/profiles etc., not enough to hold in the near future with new games coming out and such so a bigger hard drive would be great, but black 360 is uneccesary

Spot2009

Again, I will do much better w/ a 40GB HDD. The only thing that's gonna be bad is like 7GB will be used to format data and w/e. Which leaves 33GB free. And that's a lot more than the old 13GB.

If the black Xbox 360 comes out.. I might just consider buying the black case mod. But if it has HDMI.. Well, that's a whole new level. I might actually consider buying it (probably not though!).

This seems interesting. To be honest, 120 GBs, that's too much. I like the idea of a black Xbox 360, going back to the origins of the Xbox. As for a good HDD size, 40 or 60 GBs would have been nice. Plenty to hold just about any arcade game coming out, plenty of demos, and now with all of the movies and tv shows, you should still have a good 10 or 20 GBs to spare. But 120, I don't know Microsoft . . .

I like the white XBox because it is sleek to me, if they made a black one of the same shape, I don't know if it will have the same magic. However, making a carbon-like color might be nice, but whatever.

I feel what Microsoft is doing is mimicking their anti-christ, apple, of taking the same product, painting it a new color, adding in more memory, and retailing it for more just to battle the deflation of their older product. Really shoddy. I mean, I would buy the HD seperately, but not the console.

Paying PS3 price for something I already, in some way, have is not smart.

I somewhat agree to that. If they did THIS:

http://www.decalgirl.com/browse.cfm/4,4150.htm

Then I may consider buying it. Seriously, it's all shiny!!!11 But I'm not really into just buying things because they're a different color. I mean, it's not like I have 2 DS's. I just have the white one, even though I think the black one is a lot cooler.

The only thing that would be ugly about the black 360 is that the controllers will be an anachronism (out of place). Seriously, I just wish MS made a 40-60GB and sold it here (not JUST Australia..).

The thing is that none of this is even confirmed.. I have yet to see legit pictures. Including an HDMI enabled Xbox 360. And the only way I can tell it's legit is if it's announced my MS themselves and they give a screenshot.

I have a huge beef with how they screwed us on having specific HDDs.

Now they're forcing either 120GB or 20GB? Dude I want to play games, I don't want to constantly spend money to upgrade or something because they just realized they're having HD movies, TV, the arcade games are getting larger, etc. Things like this should have been planned out originally. Having custom HDDs would be better instead of us dishing out all this cash. This is complete milkage.

Some of you are loyal enough to dish out the cash for this but that's a crock. I don't think the 120GB HDD seperate would even be cheap. Plus no signs of smaller and cheaper HDDs coming out. 20GB $100... I don't even want to see what the 120GB would be. probably 200 max. S

Mingledon
02-12-2007, 05:04 AM
Doing the math:
20= $100
120= 120/20=6, 6 x 100= 600.

By idea, the 120 megs should cost $600, but that is just insane and no one would buy it, so they will probably discount it to $300.
