Creech
I am pledging a minimum of $25.00 a month to the site, and am looking for others to commit to the same. There does not appear to be a way to set it up automatically (although I am a complete noob where PayPal is concerned) so instead I will be manually doing so on the 5th of each month. The idea is to develop a steady income for the site that is not dependent upon advertising sites being visited. I KNOW that I will come to this site consistently for quite some time, and I certainly get a great deal of enjoyment and value. What I don't like is having the site go down or have all the bandwidth used up. Rather than complain about it, I am attempting to present a solution for our fearless leaders. With a steady income and the ability to see that extend into the future, the site leadership should be able to have more flexibility and confidence in decisions around the supporting hardware/software/services. Who else is employed and willing to pledge a VERY modest amount to the security and future development of this site? If you are serious about this, I can PM you each month with a reminder. Edit - Per Routine, here is the link for automatic monthly payments: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/payments.php
Minty
Would be very much appreciated- dont think that people appreciate the amount of money it costs each month to run the site, and how much Routine has to pay out of his own pocket. Any donation is welcome and greatly appreciated- whether its monthly, weekly daily or a one off. We understand not everyone can afford it, and not trying to push it. But the Paypal link is at the top in the middle
Mingledon
I know, Minty, I know. I have been running websites and forums for years now, and I even ran a few private servers (which cost arms and legs) for various games. In any case, I can appreciate the cost. I think I will send a few dollars from my pocket. Every little bit helps, even if it isn't much.
Creech
I was in the process of replying to Minty and the site became inaccessible. Poetic timing. Seriously, I have noticed that a LOT of the users of this site are adults, and most of us have jobs. $10.00 a month is a piddling amount to pay for the vast array of achievement guides alone that are available here, not to mention the other help, tournament fun, etc.
RoutineX
Thank you for your kind proposition I've checked a little and vBulletin has something called paid subscription which automatically handles recurring donations/payments via PayPal until the user cancel it, so we can set up amounts and everything will go automatically. I'm sorry for all the database errors lately, but we're outgrown the current server, and I couldn't afford upgrading this month as the new server costs $260 a month compared to the $140 I pay now. The bandwidth isn't any concern anymore. It's the hardware. More RAM is needed and a better CPU. I've hired some professionals to check the server and see if there are any more tweaks we can do before upgrading and they'll report to me shortly. Since there already is one that is willing to donate on a monthly basis, we've decided to enable the subscription feature in vBulletin. We will also set something up and give something in return for the users goodwill, like an x360a.org email , subdomain at x360a.org with a blog or other things. Just need to discuss it further in the staff. We'll probably have some more info about that tomorrow. Thanks for all the support guys =) You're the best! Shaaady Souljah
i agree. i do not have a lot of extra income right now, because most of it goes to student loans. but $10.00 is a reasonable request... props to Mr. Creech for the idea. RoutineX
We've enabled the subscription link now for automatic monthly donations. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/payments.php We'll add more text and come back with the info with the things we'll include in the subscriptions as a token of gratitude from us at X360A. All levels will of course have the same perks and will be treated equally. Any donation, no matter the size is appreciated. We'll most likely upgrade to the new server next month since we're at the server limit in the peak hours (btw, we got a new forum record about 10 minutes ago, with 195 users online )

Spot2009
Well. I'd donate some money, but I'm not really sure about $10 a month. I mean, it's not asking much out of me, but I've got a lot of things I need to pay right now. I'd probably do something like $5 a month. Maybe. PerpetualHeaven
Well as soon as I get a job you can expect me to donate $10 a month regulary. Since my situation isn't too great right now, my main concern is helping my mom first but 10 you can garuantee. When school is done and I go full time for 4 months, i'll boost it maybe 20-30 a month. I'll probably sign up for hte subsciption in a month or so just gotta give me time to apply some places and get me a steady job. So in time my freinds in time
graemelunn
Will subscribe just as soon as I'm back at work. For those of you not in the know, I am awaiting knee surgery in March. As I have been off sick since November, work are only now paying me £70 per week instead of the £250 I usually pull in. As such, even paying bills, mortgage etc. is a push. Great idea though, I'll be sure to do it as soon as money becomes less of an issue.

Maka
I ask you, Routine: DON'T SWITCH TO VBULLETIN, please! I say this as a concerned member and as an experienced site administrator. A horrible idea. The Site has run vBulletin since basically the time I've been here, And Ive been here from the start... From my vague memory, it was put in after a couple of weeks, when the site started... I have quite a few dollars but no credit card. I think my dad has a PayPal account though, so i should be able to work something out with him, but Im sorry to say, At the moment, I wont be able to pay a regular basis, only a couple bucks here and there... ozster
Sounds fair enough to me, I did not realise that someone had to pay out of there own pocket for the server etc. Anyway I have made a donation to the cause, keep up the good work!
