You could just try the towel thing =D

http://www.towelcompany.co.uk/

The hearts of the forums are with you, good luck fixing the damn thing. So close to the Crackdown release too.

Not all bad, cause if you just say to them that you have spoken to the DTi and they have told you to quote the "satisfactory quality" part of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 with regard to durability, I reckon it's Section 14, but I'd have to check on it fella.

You can contact the DTi just for clarification and then you can forward it to them just in case.

Try that man :)

Yeah, I'd like to see if that works too, I just don't want to test it on my own Xbox. :p

That is why we have Invincible Rob, guinea pig supreme.

You could always try selling the broken one on eBay and just say it got broken in the post. Then buy a new one =) Not that that is dishonest, it is just crafty.

Ahhh I would try the towel thing but If I messed up, I'd freefalling without a parachute.
I Might try the "sweet talk" to Argos and if that fails I'll ask my mum to "sweet talk" them. :p hey, it worked at HMV when my router broke.

@zef: you cheeky B*****D, I hope you're 360 never breaks, some poor sucker will prbably buy it from Ebay

@webb: whats DTi :confused:

Department of Trade and Industry.

Even better contact "Consumer Direct" and explain the situation.

Make sure the URL has .gov.uk in it :)

that's horrible my friend. :( I remember when mine junked out.. i thought i was going to die. We got through it though, my 360 and i, and now we're better friends because of it. (i did tell him though that if he ever pulled any shit like that again that I'd kill him... seems to have worked.)

EDIT: The bastard... I'm going to F**KING KILL HIM! His disc-tray won't read my discs anymore. >:( Warranty expired at the end of January.. wow. Looks like its either 130 to fix it or I go without. Sigh.. Crackdown, I still love you. Wait for me baby.

Hmmm, Alright I'm still a little confused, do I have to talk to Microsoft about a replacement if not what or who do I go or speak to first.
Thanks.

Call Microsoft customer support, tell them your world is coming to an end and you need a little cardboard coffin.

Webb

Right....

You have no rights with MS now because your 1 year is up. But due to UK consumer law, you still have a right against the Retailer (i.e. Argos). Speak to consumer direct and they will say the same.

Do Microsoft not do anything after the 1 year? Cheeky sods.I'll be off to buy some warranty so I don't have to call Game customer support.

So basically, I try the towel Method and pray ...or I'm screwed.

No man, you need to contact consumer direct. You will have an action against the retailer to get it sorted.

Ahh I think I understand you, I got a bit confused at the start, you mean I have to go to Argos and see what they can do for me?
If thats the case wont I have to send back everything HDD included.

Webb

Pretty much. I would speak to Consumer Direct though first and then you can take all the correspondence in with you.

Send them a mail and explain, you've had it yada yada yada, the warranty ran out yada yada yada, got told about Sale of Goods Act, yada yada yada.

Then you should be sweet :D
