View Full Version : Okay, dealt with EA phone AND live chat regarding DLC achievement issues

Okay, I just phoned customer support, AND used the online chat, and here is what I'm getting

*after I explained that we've tried everything including pulling the ethernet and clearing the cache, recovering gamertag, creating a new character, etc etc etc, and that my major concern is that because its for the people who bought and played within the first four days, we dont want to be forgotten about*

Lady on Phone 'Kelly':

I will send this issue off to my supervisors and I understand why you might be upset, what I need you guys to do is to post about this on the forums for both EA and Bioware, because surely they are looking at them all the time and will respond to you

Me: Well, thats the problem, nobody is responding

Kelly:

Even if they don't respond, they will likely have seen it and are working on it. Also, you will want to talk to xbox, since it is a problem with your gamertag

Me: Uhhhhh okay?

--------

Then theres the chat:

Rick: Hi, my name is Rick. How may I help you?
: Hello Rick?
Rick: Hi
: Sorry about that, was on the phone with EA customer support at the same time
Rick: No Problem
: Okay, so, my issue today is with *drum roll* Dragon Age Origins achievements on the 360!
Rick: You have reached technical support; we have no gameplay information that we can offer to assist you. Although many of our games are very technical in nature or difficult to play, the issue you are encountering is not with the game.
: Oh, but it IS with the game
: And this is what I'm here for
: Basically, theres a small (but rather vocal) group of us who have been hunting for answers to an issue that will have manifested itself within the first four days of ownership and currently has no response to\
Rick: You may check our message boards for help and assistance. You can find the message boards at the below given link :-

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/index
: I have done this, there is currently no response to this from devs or pubs
: Anyone who purchased the DLC within the first four days and played through it, got the 'achievement unlocked' for doing the achievement related things
Rick: You can surf the web and check out some of the major video game sites as they usually offer codes and gameplay hints for EA games. One major resource for Hints and Tips is http://www.gamefaqs.com .
: Which is all fine and normal. Because the xbox servers were not updated to handle the DLC achievements, even though they appeared in your system profile, they actually did not register with your gamertag outside of the system
: This has happened before with other games, so we went with the benefit of the doubt that the fix would be to simply recover your gamertag after the servers updated, and do whatever you had to do to get the achievement again
: HOWEVER, this has turned out to not be the case. Currently, anyone who got those achievements in the first four days has found that they absolutely. cannot. without a doubt. get them again
Rick: Please provide me your gamertag and EA account.
: Komrade Kayce (ea acct shiny_metal_ass@hotmail.com)
: Same ea acct handle too, Komrade
Rick: Please wait while I check.
: You can re-do exactly what you're supposed to do to get the achievement. Such as drinking this potion. But doing so unlocks nothing at all
: We've recovered gamertags, we've even gone so far as to delete all DLC and characters and pull the ethernet cable from the box, then try a clean play
Rick: I'm escalating your issue to our senior support for further investigation.
: they absolutely will not unlock
: Thank you
Rick: You will be contacted through email with in 24 hours with the solution to your problem.
: Will I? Because I submitted a ticket more than 72 hours ago on thursday with a 24 hour expected turnaround time
: Even updated it with further information, and have gotten no response
Rick: Please wait for few hours and surly you will get the response.
Rick: Is there anything further I may assist you with today?
: No, I guess not, if you have no answers for this
Rick: Thank You, have a nice day.
Rick has disconnected.

Can't say I'm surprised, because I'm sure their scripts don't cover this issue and until they get handed a new script, all they can do is escalate it up the chain of command (assuming they did so!)

Considering I had to wait in the queue for 27 minutes to talk to Rick, I'm assuming hes just slightly retarded, not a robot, aha.

EDIT: Also, he spelled surely wrong. Surly is what I'm currently getting. :)

Well, for people in that position their brain is generally their script, so if their script doesn't address the issue, they pretty much ARE going to sound stupid because they don't have any way of actually being helpful.

Keep trying, though, sooner or later it might trickle upwards to a level where something pertinent can actually be said!

I just totally feel for you guys on this,I really do.However,EA won't do jack shit about this cause they never do.Whenever you see their name on anything, you can guarantee it will be broken and you will get screwed somehow.First they helped tarnish Pandemic now Bioware.Oh my,who will they kill next?

The best bet is to try your luck on the Bioware side.EA won't piss on you if you're on fire.Let us know if you have any luck with Bioware. However, they may just tennis you back to EA due to them owning the servers for the games information handling.

Get ahold of a live agent at support.ea.com/chat right away. Explain everything.

Everyone who has issues. Especially you people out there with the same achievement issues as me.

We need to hit them hard and fast on this one so that they don't ignore the first four day players.

That's part of the problem - behind the scenes, who knows who is talking to who. Bioware *has* to work through their publisher (EA), so I'm just hoping Bioware is on the ball with the person at EA who might actually be able to get that behemoth moving!

You make too many assumptions my confused friend. Ever heard of Battlefield:Bad company? Created by DICE, the same DICE that is owned by EA? Personally had my achievement fixed, I am Bad Company, as did many others on this site. Used the EA owned Battlefield Customer Support. It took awhile yes, but they did fix the problem.

This is being blown way out of proportion, it will get fixed just relax. I'm in the same boat but I'm not losing sleep over it nor am I resulting to name calling and baseless accusations.

Be polite and nice when calling for support. Would you want to help someone who's acting like an idiot? I wouldn't. It doesn't matter if the fault is not ours, we need to be respectful when explaining the problem and asking for help. I'm amazed at the level of hurt that this little problem is causing some of you. It's too bad really.

I agree, I think it will be handled we just have to be patient it's week 2 and A is probably trying to figure out why B isn't talking after they went live.

Remember there are 2 separate variables at play here that can't talk to each other at will per se. It may take some time, I started the thread on EA's forum just to make sure they see it.

Funny thing is I bet thousands more are effected but haven't noticed. I wouldn't of noticed myself had I not read it here.

Same, I honestly didn't notice either. I came on looking for the specifics of an achievement, saw a thread on the DLC, checked mine and blah. Same thing happened with Fallout 3. I did all of the achievements in that game + all 5 DLC and my totals weren't adding up. So I didn't notice till like months later on that one. That's probably why there are so few of us being vocal, alot of people won't start noticing until they're approaching 1100 and are wondering why they're stuck at 1000.

I unlocked the achievements for Warden's Keep in the first four days. Same story, got the "achievement unlocked" but no gamerscore for them. I followed directions from MS to "just get another achievement" and the Warden's Keep achievements would unlock. Not surprisingly, this did not happen. I followed further instructions to recover my gamertag, which I did. Now the achievements are locked again! Oh well, at least I'll be playing through the mission again later anyway.

As someone who formerly worked for a company owned by EA, I can say that Bioware and EA are most definitely (probably) working on a fix for this. Bombarding every method of contact that you can find is not going to get the fix done any faster, but know that they are (probably) not ignoring you.

I have a bit of experience in customer service, and as others have stated, customer service representatives have a script that they work from. You can't expect the person in customer service to know everything (or anything, for that matter), and you also have to keep in mind that there are some things that they are not allowed to talk about due to non-disclosure agreements, and therefore they won't deviate from their script even if they do know the answer to your question, as if it is not in the script then they don't know that it is OK to say. If you ask a question that the answer to is not in their script then all they can really do for you is say that they are escalating it up the chain of command. It is rather disappointing to see that the reps were so quick to assume you were just looking for game play help, and that one transcript from EARep Scarlett is awful.

On the flip-side, it would seem that in some of these transcripts you all have been rather rude to the reps. I get that you are frustrated with this issue, but being rude and snippy is no way to try and get help. I find that the best way to deal with a customer service rep is to just be as polite as possible while assuming that they know nothing. Explain everything in detail and if the rep asks you a question just answer it, don't make a comment as if you expect the rep to already know the answer. It's much easier to get your way if you ask nicely.

Also, in case anyone is wondering, the reason that I said I am a former employee of a company owned by EA is because... well... they kind of fired me. I was working as a tester and I said in a report that the game I was testing was terrible and a blatant rip off of another well known game. Apparently they are touchy about comments like that, who would have guessed? I'd rather not say what company I worked for or what the game I am talking about was, but bonus points to anyone who can guess.

Hope you are right. I'm not expecting the fix to come any faster, just a "yes we're working on it" and I'd shut up. :)

As a side note to anybody that might attempt a gamertag recovery: the process of recovering a tag has been hanging up on me every time I attempt it, and my profile is currently unusable due to being "incomplete." It's also not processing my upgrade of my wife's account from silver to gold. I dunno what the problem is, but right now it appears that attempting to recover your gamertag is a sure-fire way to blow it up.

Well actually they are ignoring us, even if they are trying to find a fix. I just want to hear someone come out and say, we are sorry we F**ked the pooch on this one. I think it should be MS for not having the achievements ready on day 1! Making an apology doesn't make the company look weak, not having the product work right on day one makes them look weak.

On another note, just to keep these threads alive, and not trying to hijack a thread, what was your favorite origin? I personally Enjoyed the 2 elf origins the best, more specifically the Dalish Elves

We need a big game site to pick up the story, plus they have better a better chance of getting a hold of someone from Bioware or EA, and would probably report they have not given us any response etc. But at least it would get noticed. We just need a great angle to pitch to someone that can write up a little excerpt. Any ideas?

This is where a smaller studio shines more than a monster like EA. Bethesdasoft screwed up, the admitted it and said a fix was coming. They got it fixed for Broken Steel.

Anyone know the twitter of any of the programmers for the game? Maybe if we bombard them with tweets they will mention it to someone.

I take it nobody has seen any email reply, either from a chat escalation or from an original support ticket?

Nope, and although they got the game right, why the fuck did they file it under MADDEN CHAT... wtf?

Seems the mod closed up the thread and refering the standart response "Please report bugs through Ofifcial Game Support so we can work on them or post them in Technical Support."

Its truly sad that nor Bioware or EA gives decent tech support.......

Keep posting in those two threads to draw attention.

BTW, even tho a single forum admin replied, they are powerless to do anything. Their job is to placate the mobs and hope we go away. We need to keep pestering them until they notify the programmers.

I know all your gamerscore wh*ores are as OCD as I am, go do your duty and keep bumping those threads.
