Since before I can remember I have always been a fan of the Virtua Tennis series, many hours have been spent in shady arcades dotted around the country.

Due to this, Virtua Tenins 2003 was an immediate purchase and all in all I thought it was a good game. When VT 2009 was announced, I was eager to view the news and aimed to buy on day one.

Unfortunately, since then I have heard real mixed reviews and also the achievements are potentially still glitchy (Coronation..etc). Even the score on Metacritic is only 70%.

I am not normally put of by reviews but I have heard comments across the web that if you want a real tennis game get VT 2003.

So... for those of you who owned VT 2003 and then bought VT 2009, would you reccomend it? Or, should I just wait until VT 2010 is released?

Thanks!

Most if not all peopls gripes with this game was the amount of glitched achievements, these have now mostly been fixed and if your just starting out now all should work for you.

Career mode does take a long time but if your a fan of the series you wont mind playing it, to get the full 1K will also take a long time.

I mysel am one of the unlucky ones who still cannto unlock coronation, im hoping sega fix this but i doubt they will now. I just keep an eye of this forum just incase.

Anyway all in all id recommend the game to you, sure you can get it for a descent price now.

Then what do you recommend it for? Better online, better gameplay and more...

He owns VT3 already, so even if it's cheap, why should he spend money for something you consider worse in every aspect?

Purchased this game for 15 and overall I have been very disappointed - the gameplay is far too easy and you have to win over 100 tournaments (300 matches+) to reach rank #1 Pro in world tour.

I am currently on 875/1000 and have put in over 30 hours on this game - If I want the full 1000 I will need to invest that time again for the 650 online wins required.

If you were a fan of Virtua Tennis 3, then pass on this game. Hopefully VT2010 will be vast improvement.
