-Estimated achievement difficulty: 5/10

-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 2,5
-Number of missable achievements: 4
-Glitched achievements: None

Overall this game is not very hard, especially since you can play it on easy and still get all the achievements.

Introduction:
Welcome to Venetica! This game has a total of 50 achievements and requires two full playthroughs to get its two different endings. As in the game you can chose between three guilds that you can join and it is required to complete all guild missions for one of the achievements, after you are through with the two playthroughs (with different guilds) you need yet another playthrough where you join the last remaining guild. Luckily you do not need to complete the game again this last time, only focus on the quests of the remaining guild.

The game has four missable achievements: Apple Wine, Stealth Master, Rogue Vengeance and High Esteem.

As far as glitches go, the game is definitely not bug-free, but doesn't yet have confirmed glitches that impact achievements. What can happen though is that due to a bug (e.g.: the rogue who stole the key from the Persian sometimes disappears from the cut-scene and the game completely, so you can not get the key back) you can not progress in the story and have to reload an earlier save. As always with these games, save often. There is no autosave so make sure you save every half an hour or so. Also, use several slots, at least five I would suggest.

It is recommended to create and keep a save once you obtained the “Trust to be Earned” mission from Nox. This is the point where you have to choose between the three guilds. As in one playthrough you can only be a member of one guild this should be the point you will replay the game from when you completed your first two playthroughs.

First Playthrough
During your first playthrough you should focus on getting all achievements that you can obtain in one game. I recommend starting by finishing the game the honourable way and joining the Order of the Holy Seal guild. As this in this game you will get as strong as it is possible in the game, I recommend you to give a try for the No Drugs achievement during this playthrough. For "No Drugs" you have to finish without consuming any items that restore health. It sounds tricky, but as you can do many other things to restore health (e.g: sleeping, take it from enemies with mental powers, getting a doctor to heal you) saying good-bye to consume healing items does not make the game a lot more difficult. Alternatively you can do it during the second playthrough, but as it is simply quicker to run through the game using healing items, do it rather in your first run.

In the end you should have 6 achievements missing, one for the alternative ending and five for the guild missions you could not complete yet.

In general, use the optional quest guide (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=196652) to make sure you accept and solve as many quests as possible. The quests there together with the main quests will ensure that you have the Quest Master achievement by the end of Act 3.

To achieve the honourable ending all you have to do is to watch out for your conversations with Benedict and your father, Death, Always pick answers that suggest that the reason you do all this is for and to be with Benedict again, avoid the ones that suggest revenge or vengeance. Also in the end, let Death kill Victor. Solving the quest as described in the quest guide might also help. Altogether, expect to spend 18+ hours on this playthrough.

Here is what you have to do to obtain the missable achievements in the order they appear in the game:

Apple Wine – once you enter the Inner City Tavern the first time talk to the Innkeeper and tell him you are new in town and come from the mountains. He will lead you to the room nearby where you will be attacked. Once you killed the attackers, fight and kill the Innkeeper as well. Exit and reenter the tavern to unlock “Apple Wine”.

Stealth Master – once you are on the boat, you will get a mission from Drago to collect three packs of medicine from the deck. You have to do this without alarming the guards.

High Esteem / Rogue Nightmare – In order to be able to reach 2000 reputation points, in the quest for Largo (“Secret Errands”) you will have to spare Mercutio’s life. Only then can you go back to the brothel and get the last rogue mission which is worth 100 reputation points and of course needed to clear all rogue quarters as well.

As in this game you will join the Order of the Holy Seal, make sure you grab the unfitting plate mail from the chest in your room in the Order, and also in the third act go and train group fighting with Rangar.

Second Playthrough
Start again on easy from the very beginning, but this time go for the villainous ending. This ending requires that every time you talk to Benedict and Death pick answers that suggest you do all this for revenge/vengeance. During the quests, always pick to fight as soon as the option is there and in the end, kill Victor yourself.

When doing the mission “Trust to be Earned” for Nox, choose one of the remaining two guilds (the Net of the Mask or the Hooded Wings) and finish their questline. Create a save right after accepting the mission from Nox, this save you will reuse for the third partial playthrough.

While playing, focus only on the main storyline and the quests for your guild. In the first story mission in the Inner City, you have to talk to Tusker in his hideout. If you tell him who you are, you instantly get to the ship. If not, you have to reach 300 reputation points to progress the story. In this latter case, just do two rogue and one gripper queen missions, they give you 100 rep each and are quickly finished. It takes about 9 hours to run through the game like this.

Clean up – Third (partial) Playthrough

Use the save created during the second playthrough, just after accepting the “Trust to be Earned” quest from Nox. This time pick the last guild and play through their missions. Unfortunately all guild missons require that you access the Arsenal, ie you have to progress the story as far as killing Hector on the ship. It is also necessary that you get the skill to talk to the dead, which you obtain by cleaning up the chapel for Brother Johan in the Arsenal, put together the statue and meet Benedict. It takes about 5 more hours to finish the missions for the last guild, once it is done, the “Knowledge of the Guilds” achievement unlocks and you have 1000 points. Congratulations.

Thanks for Tender Branson8's tips to complete the Roadmap.

In front of the Forest Hut you will meet two quarrelling brothers, Don and Nesto. Once you helped them by retrieving their father's will from the building (by pressing the switches in this order: from the left 2nd, 4th, 3rd, 1st), talk to them and they will teach you to roll. All you have to do is to successfully roll away from their attacks four times by pressing :xbut:.

Story-based, can not be missed.
Once you have helped them resolving their legacy issue, Don and Nesto will open the room in the Forest Hut where you will acquire the broken moonblade. Mattheo, the weaponsmith will be able to fix the weapon, all you have to do is go to the abandoned mine and get a moon crystal for him. Once you fought through the mine, got the crystal and gave it to Mattheo to use it to repair the moonblade, the achievement will unlock.

The combined attack skill you will have to learn from Yngvar. He is in the Windmill Tavern located in the Southern Bay. Once you freed the innkeeper and their guests, you have to talk to Yngvar and ask him to teach you combined attacks. Simply perform a roll with :xbut: followed by a counter-attack with :abut: four times successfully.

Blocking Training successfully accomplished

In Venice when entering the Order of the Holy Seal for the first time you will meet Rangar. After a short cut-scene you can ask him to teach you how to block. First you have to learn the block skill (from him if you have not learned it from any of the previous trainers already) for the weapon you intend to use it with. Once learned, put it on one of the shortcut buttons on the digital pad. When Rangar attacks, press the button you assigned the block skill to, after the block quickly press :abut: to counterattack. Do this four times to unlock the achievement.

Training against many enemies successfully accomplished

This can only be obtained if you joined the Order of the Holy Seal. Once you are in Act 3 and go back to Rangar you can train with him fighting against a group. He will ask you how many enemies you want to fight against, pick 4 (there is no achievement for 2 or 3) and then reduce the health of all four enemies enough for them to leave the arena. Use a hammer and perform combos and they will not even hit you.

Before leaving your village to Venice, go to the upper exit of the village and go to the left to an open area with quite a few assassin's. Defeat their leader and you will get the item Leather Mail (unfitting). If you have already 500 ducats, you can ask Mattheo to customize the armor for you. If you do not have so much money yet, sell all the swords, go and collect copper ores to sell, etc... or simply wait until you have the Smithy in Venice and let Mattheo customize it for you then.

Dig out all treasures

You can buy a shovel at Dominicus (across the Doctor's house in the Arsenal), equip it and look for the treasures hidden in the world. Instead of looking for all the treasure maps you can use dutchy's treasure map guide here (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=200770). Dig around the marked spot until you find them, you must be digging almost exactly on the spot to be successful. The pictures of the exact locations are back on the official Venetica forums, look here (http://forum.dtp-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?f=206&t=13731&sid=c856e086a4226e9e1bfba0fb57118946).

Note, there is a story quest towards the end where you have to dig out the skull of the Jailor's wife. This is also considered a treasure and the achievement only unlocks once you found this one as well.

Chapter 1 completed

Story-based, can not be missed. After you kill the first boss in the game, the Mistress the path to Venice will be opened and the achievement is unlocked.

During the boss fight, use a hammer to destroy the five pillars holding a structure she is throwing the shurikens from. When the structure is destroyed, she will also fall down and you can use any of your weapons to kill her. I found my hammer very efficient, but she is not too difficult whatever weapon you use.

Once you kill her, there is a second fight where you have to kill her in her demon form in the Twilight World. Just roll from her tentacles and when the tentacles roll in, use your moonblade to kill them. If you do not go near to her, the tentacle attacks can not even reach you, but the tentacles still close and can then be attacked. Once you got rid of the five tentacles, go for her head, roll to avoid her poison attacks.

Chapter 2 completed

Story-based, can not be missed. After you kill the second boss in the game, Hector, there will be several cut-scenes and the achievement unlocks.

Hector can not be hurt by weapons. Once the fight begins run to the back of the room to destroy his urn. Afterwards stand near one of the two columns in the middle of the room, wait until he attacks, roll away, so that he can smash the column. Let him destroy both columns to finish him off in this world.

His form in the Twilight World is also pretty easy. Attack his weak right leg until he falls, then keep hitting his back. Do this a few times and he will fall on his belly. Hit his head while carefully avoiding his bites and he is quickly finished.

Chapter 3 completed

Story-based, can not be missed. After you defeat the third boss in the game, the Princess, the achievement unlock will unlock.

The fight is extremely easy. Keep avoiding the skeletons and focus on the burning totems that the princess summons. Destroy four of these burning totems and she is defeated.

In the Twilight World she has a bird form and will attack with laser beams. Keep rolling to avoid the attacks. After a few beams she will land on the ground, that is when you have to hit its peak. She will leave a spear and a shield behind. Grab and equip them quickly and use the shield to reflect the beams back on her. Do this four times and the fight is finished.

Game completed

Story-based, can not be missed. After you kill the last boss in the game, Victor, the achievement unlock will unlock.

During the first part of the battle, ignore Victor and use remove curse on the Doge and then beat him up, repeat it three times to end the fight.

In the Twilight World keep rolling from the enery balls Victor fires at you and get close to him so that you can use your weapon to attack him. Once you killed him in this form there will be yet another part in the real world where you are up against Victor's human form. Use your weapon of choice, keep rolling from his attacks and utilize your "Passage" skill to disappear and reappear with a back attack.

Throughout the whole game simply do not use any potions or food having healing effect. The Hooded Wings guild is behind the chruch. Talk to the guildmaster and he will tell you to enter the catacombs and talk to Grimm. He is difficult to spot as it is way too dark down there, but once you enter he will be on the right side, just a few steps from the entrance. He will ask you to deliver a message before you can join. The exit from the catacombs that you have to use is somewhat difficult to find as there is no road, but you have to swim to the green dot on your map. Once you delivered the message, speak to the guildmaster.

Quests of all guilds accomplished

This achievement requires to join and finish all quests for all three guilds. It is recommended to create a save just after you got the "Trust to be Earned" mission from Nox. This is where you have to make a choice between the three guilds. This way you at least save the trouble of having to play through the part until you get to Venice. You do not need to complete the whole game with having worked for one guild, it is enough to comlpete their missions.

Collect all medicine parcels without killing the guards

During your stay on the ship, you will get the mission Rogue Games. It is part of the story, therefore can not be missed. You have to collect three packs of medicine on the deck of the ship. The goal for this achievement is to get the packs without alerting and having to kill the guards. As the packs are close to the entrance and the guards are also not very alert, it is relatively easy. A good tip is once you finished the mission, go back to the deck and kill the guards for the extra xp. Also, the deck is full of vases to break and definitely helps you to get the Sherd Master achievement earlier.

Play and complete the game the honorable way

During the conversations of the main quest, pick answers that are suggesting that you do all this for Benedict or restoring peace to the world. Avoid the answers hinting you do all for revenge or vengeance. Also, try to solve quests - where possible - without fighting and in the end let Death kill Victor. It unlocks after completing the game.

During the conversations of the main quest, pick answers that are suggesting that you do it for revenge, vengeance. Level 32 reached

If you do all the optional quests by the end of the game you will be around level 28-30 and get the True Hero achievement already. The most efficient way to ensure you do not have to grind much before getting Legendary Hero and finishing the story is to obtain one of the treasures. Once you get to Africa, make sure you dig up the Harvester in the second northest cave. This is a weapon that boosts the XP you get per kill. Use the Harvester from then on whenever possible. In case you did not get to level 32 before removing the curse from the door before the last fight, go to Africa and kill Baka Beasts or alternatively keep entering the arena (talk to Gero in the Jama village) and kill the contestants there. You have to reach level 32 before attempting to kill Victor to get the achievement.

Earn 2000 reputation points

If you follow this quest guide (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=196652) and make sure that you do not steal anything when you are seen (because that reduces reputation), then you will end up with just about enough reputation points to unlock the achievement. Always make sure to accept the tasks before taking care of them (ie. get the quest before actually killing the gripper queens), just to avoid the game not giving you reputation points for your deed.

Self explanatory, you have to accept and finish 50 quests in one playthrough. Here is a thread (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=196652) that contains a list of the optional quests in the game. The achievement popped only after 53 quests for me, together with the achievement for completing Act 3.

- you encounter this as you find a dead body on the roof while approaching Tusker's hideout (part of the main story)
- Once you return from Africa two stone beasts will attack
- In the garden of the Eastern Villa
- In the Arsenal, exit the Doctor's house and go left a few hundred meters
- In the Outer City, in the garden before the Shadow Mask guild
- It is on the bridge where you obtain the "Dark Views" achievement
- In the West Wing of the Doge Palace

just a quick note to say that u can use magic in the arena, i used the spell that gives u health from the enemy fine, also you need a minimum of 3 playthroughs to get all achievements, although once you've figured out what your doing, it only takes about 15hours or so, i've got most of the achievements if your needing help describing etc any of them i'm just not on xbox live till after new year

only one i seem to be having problems with is the 2000 rep, I cant get more than 1920.. :(

and of course I am curious what the last two secret achievement are.. ;) They have definitely nothing to do with difficulty as I just finished on hard and no achievement.. eh.. Maybe its those spirits you can talk to, who after they tell you their problems just disappear.

And two playthroughs with a save before the Nox achievement should be enough, then you do on that save the last guild missions as well..

Its Christmas lol, anyway now thats out the way the other secret achievements are

Knowledge of the guilds (50g) - quests of all guilds accomplished
Hooded Wings completed (25g) - completed all regular quests of the hooded wings
Net of the masks completed (25g) - completed all regular quests of the net of the masks

i ended up with more than 1920 but not enough to get 2000 first playthrough, not sure if you only get rep from doing missions, or if the answers you give when given options change it at all once i get over all the christmas cheer i'll have a look at what and how many missions i completed

Anybody has an idea how that Knowledge of the guilds achievement works? Since you can apparently only join one guild per playthrough.

PS You lose Reputation Points when u steal or do other socially unacceptable things
And another thing: I'm not entirely sure but when you want to go for the honorable way achievement, you should chose the net of the mask guild. The hooded wings are neutral and the holy seal guild guys are the ones that are angry, hence vengeful way.
Just my two cents...

olcsi2

just finished... the knowledge of the guilds requires to complete all guilds in several playthroughs, ie. 2,5 playthroughs.

i had the good ending with the order of the holy seal, so it is not relevant.

I figured out the 2000 rep as well.. in the brothel, if you leave mercutio alive, kitten will give you the quest to clear the rogues in the Arsenal district, with that I reached 2020 rep.. :)

AND 2nd in the WORLD to get to 1000... :)

Hey Olcsi

I found out that you definitely have to be a member of the Holy Seal guild to get the group fighter achievement. You should maybe include that in the guide. Plus when you go for the half playthrough to get the achievements for one guild, you should tell Tusker (the fat guy who helps you get on Claw ship) your name. Otherwise he wants you to have 500 Rep or help his friend out of prison (which also requires Level 15). I needed to do some sidequests to get to level 15. When I went for my final playthrough I just told Tusker my name and voilą I was in...

12-30-2009, 03:34 PM
I used your guide and finished the game yesterday. Great Job i might add. There are a few minor things I would maybe add:

-Use plenty of savegames. The game glitches occasionally. I had to redo a lot of things due to stupid bugs.

-Group fighter achievement only obtainable when you're a member of the holy seal guild

-Locations of the angel statues. You only mention who can give you the highest skill, but not the first. I know it's story-related but still.

Skill 1: The Passage - Copper Mine (or not?)

Skill 3: ????? - Old Cathedral, reach through inner Catacombs

Skill 5: Remove Barrier - Africa, the cave all the way up north
Skill 6: Summoning - Garden of the Doges Palace

- The reputation was a close call. But as you said, don't kill Mercutio and do all possible quests. I think otherwise you won't make it. I had 1930 when I was in the Doge's Palace. The Shady Assistance sidequest (received by Guard Lucio) did the trick and got me the achievement. Plus first time I met my brother Leon in the Guild HQ, he offers to increase reputation for few ducats. Just exhaust the dialog option, till he won't do no more.

That's all that comes to mind right now. Hope it helped...

olcsi2
12-30-2009, 06:13 PM
thanks, I added soem of your comments. I dont remeber meeting Leon in the guild, when does it happen?

The angel statue locations is a good idea, I will add later.. :)

That with Leon happened to me on my first playthrough. I can't remember exactly what part of the story, but it was soon after I got to the inner city and joined the net of the mask. Leon was in first room when you enter the guild. Standing there and I think he even started the conversation. Not sure though.

As for the Road Map, great job. It took me more than 30h, closer to 40h, but that's maybe just me. I think you left out the no drugs achievement.

the roadmap is straight after the achievemnet descriptions... but a roadmap is no complete walkthrough... which means if you are looking for what to do next, I suggest you set the main quest as active and look at your map and follow the green spot, it mostly is enough to give you guidance.

If you are still stuck, write here, we'll try to help.

The nest by the market place has a door access to it, pretty easy. Didn't see the door earlier, wonder why.
Also the status starts to come alive AFTER you return from Africa. Till then they dont. It's not a bug.

Some additions and alterations as I discover them:

The Group Fighter achievement can be done as soon as you join the holy seal by turning in the shield. Just talk to Ragnar when he is in the Holy Seal training room and choose to fight 4. Done at level 10.

Nox can also teach you the second circle to it's fullest, as soon as you've joined a guild. Aeris of the Net of the Mask can teach you the third and fourth circle, no matter what guild you belong to, and only after you have received the story related first skill in those trees.

Rangar (Holy Seal) can net you the two first "learn the strongest..." weapon achievements, moonblade & swords, as soon as you join and meet him in the guilds training hall.

There was no plate mail to be seen anywhere in the Holy Seal quarters (right after joining) as the guide states. Crow did sell them after finnishing "Clear Sky in the Outer City", so I'm guessing anyone can get them outside the Holy Order guild. Update: The achievement guide is wrong, but with good reason. unfitting plate mail will sometimes show up as random chest loot; olcsi2 merely found the plate armor in that chest by chance and I agree the placement seems plausible. The non-random way to acquire plate mail at the earliest is to buy it from Crow on the roof tops after clearing the beast nests in the outer city.

Dunno if anyone plays this or reads this guide but i thought i'd mention something in relation to the guild quests. I'm on my 3rd play-through now, i've done a full play-through completing the Order of the holy seal quests and played the main game up until the last fight, i returned to the other guilds but no dice on playing their quests. 2nd play-through i joined the net of the mask and stopped playing once i'd got the chevs for their quests.

So now the interesting part, My last play-through i Joined the Hooded Wings, for the last mission i had to take the route of NOT helping the doge, i couldn't do the Stealing form the Order mission as i had a glitch and Ranger kept falling through the world! Anyway, i did all their missions and played the game up until you have to return to your guild, i choose to side with the doge. So once back at the Palace i went back into the main world to try and find some places to level up, found myself in the Net of the Mask and spoke to the lady in there, to my surprise she offered me a mission and i'm now playing through the Net of the Mask quests! I haven't tried the Order yet but i'm guessing it won't work because of said Ranger glitch but at least being able to do 2 of the 3 Guild quests it helps with levelling up.

#Right, having done the 1st 3 missions of the Net of the Mask i can't go any further as the door leading to the main area is locked and it can't be opened :( Still it was worth a few thousand XP and also my rep went from 2060 to 2170 so as long as it isn't a glitch in my game it could help a few who maybe struggling with the "High Esteem" chev :)#

Not sure if anyone still reads this, but just thought I'd mention that there's a quicker way to do the Hooded Wings initiation quest.
If you wait until you can pick locks (after Nox runs out of the cathedral and locks you in) then all you have to do is accept the quest from Grimm then make your way to the Water Gateway door, and there's another door right by it, pick the lock, go up and out the door at the very top and the guy's waiting for you on the roof.
Definitely quicker than trying to find your way through the catacombs! :)
