The battle system is extremely fun, but you can not see the enemies before you are engaged.

Most are all random battles. The battle system is based on a 4x3 grid and your characters are placed on a square randomly before the battles begins. This game will take you about 30-40 hours to complete. If you don't mind paying for this game the buy it. Otherwise you can beat it in one rental.

If you like FF then you will likely enjoy this game. I would suggest it as a rental for sure.

Please don't flame me for this, it's just my opinion.

To sum this all up quickly, I could really say I hated it. It took me till a little after the carnival got attacked by walking pizzas to see how completely stupid this game was. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME RIGHT AWAY, RENT IT AND THEN BUY IT IF YOU ARE REALLY, REALLY SURE THAT YOU LIKE IT!!!

The reason for my thoughts is the fighting system. Before I rented this game I saw that it was an RPG, and I thought it would be cool because that is my favorite genre of games. But when I saw what the fighting was like, I thought it was a joke. But after realizing that you would be engaged in these battles randomly almost every few steps you took, I really couldn't play anymore. I didn't like the system because I like being able to fight out my battles, and not pick my attack and watch the characters act it out. It was the first time I played a video game like this.

I know NOW that this is the kind of game it is and that some people like it, but I really wish they would have at least advertised it as an RPG/Puzzle Game because it truly is a board game and not an Action RPG.

Sorry to you true fans of this game, but it's just not my kind of game.

Puzzle game!? Sure the combat is a bit of a mix between FFX and a tactical game like Disgaea, but the game's advertising didn't make it seem like it would play like zelda did it?

And it definately doesn't play like tetris.

Well the storyline of this game is really good (if you don't know what to expect), I'm only about 70% of my way through and I have to admit I've enjoyed it. Mainly due to the fact that I don't know what's gonna happen next.

From what I've heard though, when you get to the end the story is supposed to be really simple...

The combat is turn-based, just like Final Fantasy if you don't have the real time knocked on, except you fight on a grid.

You have different characters that come in different sizes, and you have to navigate them round the grid every round you have until your content with what to do next.

Your attacks have parameters aswell, and your enemy is also on a grid. So you have to position your character in certain positions for different attacks.

If you liked the older-style Final Fantasy's with a bit of strategy and puzzle threw into the combat then this is for you.

P.S. I can't imagine much re-playability once it's been completed though, probably better off renting it.

This game was a joke to me. I played it all the way through, but never before have a played an RPG that was so obviously geared for 5 year olds as this one was. The reason I say this is because you have no ability to do anything outside of the main storyline. Sure, there's the casino, but that's it, and even that is pretty lame.

When your walking from area to area you can't walk off the path as the game won't allow it...EVER!

When you get to a point in the story where there may actually be a bit of brainpower involved (for example, needing to climb up a rope that is hard to see) the game stops, goes to a cut scene, where the characters say "What do I do now" and then one of the other characters says, "Climb the rope over there by pressing A".

I mean jesus, after I put 30 hours into the game you'd think I'd know by now to press A...ugh...

Anyway, I was very disapointed in the game, just wasn't very original.

One more note: The main character as got to be the most annoying main characters in any RPG I've ever played.

I agree this should be rental even if you level up and do all the side quest it should be no more than 45 hours. I also doubt i will ever lay through it again since i have all the achievement.

i'm playing through this at the moment and i would recommend it (maybe rental if your not sure.) It does get annoying being told how to climb a ladder or how to swim everytime you do something that requires you to press the A button for the 1st time but that is probably my only gripe with the game (so far.) The battles remind me of Shining Force in a way and is a fairly standard turn based battle mode. If you enjoy RPGs then its definetly worth a try

To me, if you enjoy the Final Fantasy series, then just stay away from this game. The battle system is horrible, junky story, and annoying characters. This game treats you like you have a short term memory. Although, if you love the above and find a gay guy in a video game is your type of thing, by all means, try this game out.

It is kind of like FFT for the tactics. Or if you've played La Pucelle Tactics kind of like that.
