Okay,

To start things, I'm not a Rpg Noob. I've played and completed just about every Rpg there is. I love them and they are most definately my preferred game type. I'm just curious to know, what did you all think of this game?

I know, that the majority of people here prefer games such as Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant etc. But if we're talking 360 Rpgs here, where would you rank this one? For me, it's up there with the best of them. Maybe it's not quite as good as MagnaCarta or Star Ocean etc but It's definately up there.

1. The Story - The fundamental of any Rpg is that it needs a good story, a good Rpg fan could play a game with absolutely horrendous graphics and still think it's the best thing ever invented if the storyline is good enough. An example of this is FF7, although the graphics weren't that bad.

2. The Fighting - The battle system in Enchanted Arms is different compared to most RPGS. And it might not look as nice, it's definately not as flowing or smooth or as 'Cool' as the more recent Rpgs, but it's a nice change from the usual. It did take a bit of getting used to but by a bit into the game it was no longer a problem and i liked it!

3. The Character - For me the 2nd most important part to an Rpg. Every great Rpg has at least 1 or 2 great characters that you always remember. For me, being a massive Final Fantasy fan, i'll always remember Cloud and Squall, these are two of my all time favourites. In this game Atsuma is a pretty cool main character and the development is awesome. the other characters are all pretty good aswell asides from Makoto, that guy(?) is just annoying!

4. The Music - Again, every massive Rpg has an amaaaazing soundtrack to go along with it. Again, sorry for relating to it, but Final Fantasy 7 has probably the best soundtrack that i've ever heard. Nobuo Uematsu is fantastic at what he does. Although i don't THINK he does this game, the soundtrack is pretty decent.

So i've given my opinion in pretty good depth, i'd just like to know what everyone else thought of this game?

I picked this game up for $10 out of starvation for next Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Basically never played this style of RPG before, but I was so starved for an RPG I decided to give this genre a shot.

I think this is a very well made game. I liked it for the variety of beautiful environments and interesting battle system (where you move your pieces not unlike in chess). To me, the main sell point of a game is that it keeps you in its grips, and this game is very difficult to put down: "ok just one more encounter and im turning it off", until you realize it's 2 am.

The difficulty was a little unbalanced, where everything I did until the final boss turned out to be meaningless and I had to do hours of grinding to develop the characters that could beat him. I should have saved all the money and XP until the final part. I don't know why they made all that effort of throwing all those characters in there that are basically useless in the endgame.

As for the characters, I didn't care much, I guess it's standard fare: double cross, triple cross, fighting someone who was your friend, some evil magic bitch thing that is a threat to humanity to dispose of, this game has it all. I don't know how original a game could get with that. The delivery could be somewhat grating, I just A-buttoned through most of it. Overall the game is 9/10, it's no Elder Scrolls but it's 50 hours of solid gameplay.

Out of all the RPG's I've played on the 360 I'd have to say this is the worst, totally not my cup of tea. The combat just wasn't what I expected and I couldn't get into it at all. I managed a measly 125G from it before I decided that I just couldn't get into it and sold it.

I really enjoyed this game to begin with, but there are too many sequences in which you have to run about a town talking to the NPC's. Sure maybe its for story progression but its so boring and the controls in the towns are not great. It justs lets the game down.

I love the battles and the story itself but as soon as one of those town sequences pop up i loose intrest. I lost intrest so much that i put the game down at one of those sequences and now cant get back into it.

Yeah, not my favorite RPG. I hated the whole VP system and the fighting system wasn't really designed that well in my opinion.

I was curious about this as well. I went to the local Gamestop to pick up a used copy of Star Ocean and saw a used copy of Enchanted Arms (the version that came with the graphic novel as well) for $10. I picked it up on a whim thinking that even if I didn't play it, the collectors case will look nice on my game shelf >.>

Even if it sucks, the case looks pretty, but hopefully it gets some playtime here in the near future.

I had my expectations low, because all the crap I heard about it, but I though it was pleasently enjoyable. Even though the characters and the story are a bit generic and the game is fairly linear, I'd say it was still worth a rent; also the part were Asuma suggest that mice were the thieves in Junk City was freaking hilarious lol
I think this game is like milk, but not quite like milkshake, if you catch my drift...unless you don't like milk ;)

i found this game enjoyable tbh. The battle system took some getting used to but was fairly straightforward after that and there were also plenty of characters to keep the game fresh during battles.

As an avid RPG'er I suppose I can give my full review as well (read the last paragraph for the abbreviated version):

- Story: The story was tough to follow sometimes, even though I followed and spoke to EVERY NPC, sometimes I still didn't have a good clue what was happening. I suppose during SOME parts of the story it was supposed to feel like that, but overall its not a great sense to have.

It was your typical "under-dog defeats immensely powerful super-mega demon queen and saves the world" story with a couple of minor twists here and there.

- Characters: Though they didn't have a TON of depth, I found that after playing the game more than 60% through (once you get the 4 main characters together), they kind of grew on you... sort of like a nice mold or fungus I guess.

This game holds my award for the "all-time worst character in any game ever". The very beginning introduces a playable character (at least for a portion of the game) named Makoto who was so annoying that if it wasn't for the 1000G points I would have chucked the disc into the paper shredder and then burned the shredded remains... Most of the time I had to mute my TV when his dialogue appeared because it was THAT frustrating, not to mention his avid love affair with one of the other main characters. Also, without spoiling anything, the ending of the game was GROSSly unfulfilling ... But hey, to each his own I guess.

- Battle: I'll give it up for the Battle system. It was actually pretty cool. There were some killer tough battles (especially if you wanted to get some of the special "monster" characters early on) which kept it exciting. After awhile (especially in the special dungeon) the battles were a little wearisome though and you practically were praying for a save/refill station.

I enjoyed the system overall, and towards the end of the game you got some more options of how to use the different characters which was nice. Overall, the "pokemon-like-system" (as one reviewer called it) was alright. It kept dungeon exploring fun because you were always like, "oh look a giant robot-looking monster, I hope I get him on my team". Overall though, they were rarely used once you got the 4 main characters unless you just wanted variety.

- Misc: The introduction of the "casino" in one of the towns made it possible to adequately purchase all the necessary items in the game; though at times it felt like cheating, the time I spent mindlessly spinning the roulette wheel sort of made me feel like I "earned" the currency fair and square.

-OVERALL: So, at long last, overall, I'd rate it as a 6.5/10. The story was bearable, the soundtrack was forgettable, the originality of the battle and monster system was great, and the "secret" sidequests at the end were great for an RPG fan like myself, but not enough to salvage a higher score (especially because of the headache-causing and worst-character award-winning Makoto!)

I found this game as rich an experience as ive gotten from any JRPG ive played on the xbox 360 to be honest. Its biggest failings were perhaps in the story which is as nuts as it is all over the place but the gameplay was easy to get to grips with for beginners and i actually found i developed a sort of pokemon gotta catch em all approach to getting and building every available golem in the game.

I find i really do miss these turn based RPGs are more and more RPGs are real time from the western approach in Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 to even Final Fantasy ditching its roots as of late with turn based gameplay... it was about out right stratagy back then and its the same here again. The game is pretty much linear but there is a lot to see and a lot to do none the less and i dont think i ever once found myself bored playing this through to the finish. In fact my only negativity to it was i felt there was some missed opportunities such as deeper character development for some of the cast and certainly i was compelled to see all the guardians as they looked kick ass only in the end as i recall find there was not actually that many of them in the game as i would have liked.

All in all a game showing its age a little now but good RPGs actually never suffer for technology and graphics moving on and this to me is still very much a good RPG. Interesting this is i should also add my auld man loved this game and he hates the likes of Final Fantasy - it was so accessible and even paced he played it from start to finish and told me to go and buy it even though i had bought and finished it years before he even knew about its existance haha.

Top notch in my opinion. The only downfall to this game was Makoto and the mystery man. Also the amount of times I heard "Yes, my Queen".

Besides that I thought it was an immense game. Favourite part of the game was watching the Ice Queen freeze the city and when Atsuma say's. We'll have to go back, it's a dead end. I was in bulk laughing. Ladders FTW :)

If you are looking for a RPG with a good story line then don't even bother with this game, I spent all my time during dialouge spamming the a button and I skipped pretty much every cut scene in the game. What I did like about this game was the battle system, if you plan things out correctly you can win almost any battle on your first turn. (except for boss battles, which you can usually win in 2 to 5 turns depending on the boss) If you simply beat the main quest line you will get the full 1000 gamerscore, so in my opinion it was a great game to borrow from a friend of mine, beat it in a few days and gave it back.

Seeing as though you skipped over the story AND the cutscenes, I don't think your opinion in that regard is worthy of consideration.

I just picked up this game so I can't give a valid opinion either, but I will say that most of the opinions on it are generally favourable. Although the consensus is that Makoto (sp?) is perhaps the most annoying character in all of the video-game universe in recent memory.

I picked up this game coz a friend of mine suggested it and I have to say I liked it.

The main character, Atsuma, was a solid main character where he started off all happy and dumb to being sad and dumb to eventually working his way back to being happy. That character arc was great in my opinion.

The battle system was also unique, I liked the whole "When water attacks fire it's super effective, but when fire attacks water it's also super effective" it added more thought into the tactics of battle rather than mindless button mashing.

The two things I hated was Makoto, WHY DIDN"T HE JUST DIE!!!! ahhh.... anyway and the final fight against the Ice Queen. Here I was, power leveled soooo incredibly high that in the last dungeon I was killing in 1-2 turns and then I get to her and BAM 2 turn death.... WTF I mean I like the challenge but in order to beat her you had to power level to the extreme and then hope your lucky, that's just bad in my opinion. She was harder than the final boss!!

But with all that aside I thought the game was pretty good, they tried to make all of the main characters grow and the story was generic but alright. In the end I would say play this game just to see the hardest boss ever lol
8/10

I've not beaten it yet (and I've had it for like 3 years lol) but I do like it. Reminds me of a console version of the gameboy Pokemon games.

I actually loved the game of Enchanted Arms. I didn't really care much for the Battle System, but the Characters and Storyline. I hear alot of Dropdowns to the Game(but when I read them they compare it to Final Fantasy- which was pretty annoying). The Characters in the Introduction(Atsuma, Toya, and Makoto) actually the type of characters you can really Compare/Contrast with the Beginning Characters from Naruto. But the storyline has its Similarities. The Boss Battles are pretty tough though, but I was able to get through it. I haven't met everyone with the Bad Ending(And I saw a Video of the Bad Ending).

And is it just people don't like the Battle System and Makoto? I know he's gay and that irritating Homosexual voice, but fangirls/boy should love him!

I actually do want to take a Look of the Graphic Novel(And Seriously I want to see because I'm a Fan) so MEH. >,.,>"

Almost a pretty big fan of Enchanted Arms
I think it's because how awesome the characters are. Maybe its just Raigar, I guess. When I saw him: I was like: "BAM. BREAK DOWN DAT WALL WHO-EVER-YOU-ARE."
This was a pretty good Strategizing Game(Helps me out with intelligence sometimes), but I would the Achievements. You can easily get ALL the Achievements just by finishing the game. They should get better ones like the Epic(Fail yet Strong) Weapons from the Casino, Getting all Golems, And the Holy Beast Shrine Conquered and Crystal Weapons acquired. Those are actually the Hardest to get for me(Unless you just only got the Iris Weapons from the God Orb Guardians).

I liked it! Collecting Golems, kinda like Pokémon! I didn't use the human characters. I use Golems! Unfortunately you are stuck using the main human character Atsuma. It's nice, they speak in Japanese too!

I only just got around to finishing this game, after over a year of not touching it. It wasn't an awful game, but many factors just ruined it for me.
The battle system wasn't that great. It was different than the norm, sure, but it took up so much time. I eventually kept the ability to avoid battles on constantly, just so I wouldn't have to face so many monsters trying to go from point A to point B.
Awful voice acting. Only Atsumas voice was decent, when he wasn't complaining, or being stupid. Yuki, and the homosexual (whose name escapes me) made my ears bleed.
Anyway it has a decent story, but I didn't play it for a year because I couldn't stand having to do more battles, training for the final boss. I'm so glad it's done. Never EVER going to play it ever again.

The game wasn't too bad for being one of the first JRPG on Xbox 360. Of course now there's far better ones out, like Lost Odyessy.

I was lucky since this was one of the FIRST games I ever played on my 360. Coming from a PS2, this was about on par or equal to the graphics, IIRC. I enjoyed playing it. I didnt use a guide and I still got the full 1000/1000 from it, probably because I was always an RPG completionist.

like most jrpgs nowadays this game misses the mark with over the top goofy characters and boring non stop cut scenes,i like the old rpgs like ff1,2,3,4,5,6,7 etc lufia, lunar where you want to go to a new town cus you just battled through a dungeon so you wanna talk to some town ppl and get new weapons etc but the games nowadays just suck thats why the american rpgs(fallout)(mass effect) are so much better now

It was a fantastic RPG once I got used to the tile based combat system which did not take long. Probably in my Top 4 favorite RPGs.

Not a bad game in my opinion, if you like JRPGs you'll enjoy this one. The battle system is fairly easy to get used to and the story isn't bad. Of course it's your standard J-RPG style story but it's still not unbearable to sit through.

Interesting Fact about the voice of Makoto: In the English dub version, he's voiced by none other than Liam O'Brain. Better known as the voice of Caius Ballad in Final Fantasy XIII-2, Gaara in Naruto/Naruto Shippuuden and Jushiro Ukitake in Bleach. While in the Japanese version he's voiced by Junichi Suwabe, better known as the voice of Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez in Bleach. *is so full of useless trivia*
