Flatliners haven't been here in ages. Is a damn shame.

Last I saw was the Revival Tour on November 10th. Won't go into who all played, as if you cared about them, you'd know what the Revival Tour was :p

A few days earlier, I saw The Lawrence Arms, Teenage Bottlerocket, Cobra Skulls, and Andrew Jackson Jihad, which was one of the best shows I've ever been to.

Hasn't been anything decent around here as of late, though hopefully this year will come to surprise me.

The last gig I paid to see was The Hiss who where supporting Jet.
This guy David Viner opened up for the two bands and he was great. he has released two great albums. Among the rumours and the rye, being one of my favourite albums of the last few years. The Hiss have since split up, shame their debut album was a really good rock album and Jet have become an average at best pop rock band.

I got to see John Mullin a couple of months back for free, playing a solo gig was a good night.

Uhm...Krisiun, Warbringer, The Berserker, Goatwhore and Obituary in October or September, I forget exactly when.
Only downfalls were The Berserker (shit band, even worse live), no re-entry and the pulled muscle in my leg. Probably would have enjoyed myself a lot more if I didn't have to keep going in the back and sitting down due to my bad leg. :(

i think it was bouncing souls that i last seen.

i agree with whoever said the 1st unholy... was the best. it was sooo good and since then has steadly gone down market it seems.

i personally think trivium sound far far better on cd than live. i've seen them a few times and it always sounds like their whole set is 1 big ass song. ugh. same with rise against i think they are always loads better sounding on cd. though my bf swears the shows i have seen have been when they hadn't played as good as they used to :\ *shrug*

i used to love going to gigs but now i just feel far too old. i just wanna sit down and enjoy from afar not getting right in the middle squashed and sweaty. barf. i'm far too old now a days. gigs always seem to be full of young kids going wild like they have finally been let out of their cages :| or getting beer and thinking they are real hardcore and showing off. ummm :| surely they should have age restrictions (not under 14s with an adult either :P) for gigs that have naughty words in :P

Unfortunately it's been quite awhile since I've been to any concert (good or bad). Probably been a good two years or so. When I did it was Oklahoma City's "Buzzfest" & it was frikkin awesome.

Let's see...
Saosin, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Papa Roach, and AFI were there.
Think maybe one or two other bands but memory is a bit foggy.
Ah but it was great, was at the front row and every band truly had amazing energy. They were totally into the show & it was obvious they gave their best for us.

Went with one of my best friends at the time.
Ah, good times... good times... indeed...

The last concert I went to was for my brothers band. He's in the 'rock academy' thing, so it's him and a bunch of kids his age. My sister wants to take me to the Lights concert here in Seattle the same day as Skyrim releases I believe. There's nothing I love more than music, and when it comes out of a hot chick I am done. That in mind, I love live music, but hate people, so I have mixed feeling about going. I want to go, and probably will, but have the whole anxiety complex of actually have to go interact with people I don't want to.

Anyways, if you haven't heard of her you should check her out. Her new CD just came out.

Well, it's not the last concert I've gone to, but it's the next concert I'm going to. Going to see the Godfather of Nerdcore Hip Hop himself, the self-proclaimed "World's 597th Greatest Rapper" MC Frontalot himself. Along with Mad Hatter, a local rapper, and a few other artists on the 25th.

It's definitely going to prove to be an interesting show. If you have Netflix and are slightly interested. Check out 'Nerdcore Rising'. It's basically a documentary-type movie about MC Frontalot and the Nerdcore genre.

Not really a Skrillex fan myself - his over played and his music sounds the same, Skrillex is more for new comers to dubstep.

I would suggest listening to Figure, Datsik, Adventure Club, Rusko, Diplo, Bassnectar, Mount Eden, Fuski, Dodge, At Dawn We Rage, Ephixa, Omnitica.

Separated my shoulder for a second AND third time at a show. 2 songs in, BAM, there it goes! Reset it, back into the pit and BAM, out again. Hurt like a bitch, but it's GWAR, so it's worth it. Then July 25th I'm seeing With the Punches, Forever Came Calling, and State Champs and July 31st I'm seeing Thieves and Suckerpunch.

They're coming here on August 3rd and my girlfriend is wanting to go. Still up in the air though.

The next one I have planned is Circa Survive, Touche Amore, Balance and Composure, and O'Brother on September 26th.

I'd definitely recommend it. I've seen Forever Came Calling once before and they're great live. Plus their new album is great (look up "If Bukowski Could See Me Now" and "The Office") and With the Punches's new album is pretty good as well (look up "Bad Pennies" and "I Told You Already").

Andrew WK while I was in San Diego. I actually liked it better than most concerts since it was floor seating and could get much closer to the artist. I don't like concerts where you have to stay in one place.

Converge/Touche Amore/A Storm of Light/The Secret @ Manchester Academy 2.

Got back from this like an hour ago.

The Secret
Arrived late so I missed them, which I was pretty miffed about.

A Storm of Light
Holy. Fucking. Shit.

Right from the first chords my chest felt like it was being ripped open. Imagine if Crowbar had a baby with Mastodon, this band is the result. Slow and low with an unbelievable atmosphere. This isn't mosh music, this is stand there and melt music, and I'd seriously recommend you see them if you're into doom/sludge/stoner metal.

Touche Amoré
Don't care for this band, went and sat in the café.

Converge
I'm going to be honest and say I only got into Converge about a year ago, but you know what? They're one of the best bands I've ever seen live. They can pump a ridiculous amount of energy into the crowd while doing absolutely nothing, so the intensity of the whole show sky rockets when the songs start. Started off with Concubine, so they weren't pulling any punches, and neither was the crowd. Even during the slower songs, people were going fucking bananas, so can you imagine it during the faster more manic songs? Trespasses, Axe To Fall, You Fail Me and Last Light were my highlights for the night. Heavy songs and the most violent pits of the night, and a pretty gnarly pileup at the barrier for Last Light.

Absolutely flawless live band. I've seen plenty of bands that don't know how to play their own shit live, but Converge is not one of them.

So apart from having to put a meathead in a chokehold, it was an incredible and well worth the £13 I paid.

You missed the best band there [Touche Amore]. Converge is good and I don't know the others.

I haven't been to a show in a long time 'cause I don't like the music scene [almost any]. I like listening to bands play in cafes or classical shows.

The last one I would have went to would have been to see the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra play Beethoven's Coriolan Overture, Op. 62 and Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, Op. 61 along with Dvorak's Symphony No. 7 in D Minor, Op. 70 but they cancelled the concert.

So they last one I went to was to see Icon For Hire and whoever was supporting them.

You missed the best band there [Touche Amore].

I don't like them, I avoided watching them on purpose. I won't sit through bands I can't stand, and my attitude towards Touché Amoré is the same as my attitude towards La Dispute. They suck. So, I'm going to fix this quote.

You saw the best band there [Converge].

And it was fucking awesome.

Also to go off your last post about bands who can't play live: Emery is one of the worst bands I ever saw live. I don't know how you can be that bad.

Also, La Dispute's Vancouver album is good. I don't care for whatever their other album is called.

Last Saturday (Nov 24) was GWAR w/Devil Driver, Cancer Bats and Legacy Of Disorder.

3rd time seeing Devil Driver... meh, very meh. 3rd time seeing Cancer Bats... meh, very meh. First time seeing LoD... eh.

12th time seeing GWAR, and as usual, they were amazing, and as usual, came away injured. :woop: Just getting too old and broken I guess. I've got a bad shoulder, and one good jolt will pop it out. Thanks to stupid crowd surfers (hate you people so much), it popped out. But it's GWAR... no biggie.

Next up is The Faceless, Revocation and The HAARP Machine on Wed, then Killswitch Engage the following week.

That's a bummer. I live in the south also, but at least my city gets decent shows every now and again.

As for the topic at hand, I haven't been to a show in nearly two years. Way too much stuff going on to be able to afford one at the moment, not mention I don't like a whole lot of bands enough to want to pay and see them. The only bands/artists I will probably go to if they ever come to my area is Dropkick Murphys, Jack Johnson, Mumford & Sons, and Dave Matthews Band.

Ah. You're lucky. I have to look up concerts in Atlanta for any decent and non-country acts. :(

Just saw The Faceless, Revocation and The HAARP Machine. Amazing night. All the bands were pretty flawless... and I think I killed a guy in the pit. :woop:

Metal shows at small venues is the only way to go. I met and chatted with pretty much every member of every band. How often can you say that about pop acts? (hint: never)

I'm banged up and sore, but WTF. :rock
