Hey guys. I've recently got a new xbox (christmas '09) and its a little...different...to my last Xbox which I got in christmas '07. I try to watch video's from my memory pen (the videos are AVI format) and if I'm not signed in to Xbox Live it says "You need to download an update to play this file, sign into Xbox Live and try again". Thing is I've already downloaded the "optional media update", it just seems that my xbox needs to be connected to Xbox Live to play AVI video's.

Since i don't have wireless I need to turn on my computer and connect it to the internet before I can go on Xbox Live, this combined with the power my Xbox uses seems a bit of a waste of energy for a few hours viewing. Is there any way I can watch these video's WITHOUT having to be on Xbox Live?

Cheers.

You need to do the license transfer on the optional media update so that you can watch AVI videos offline

Its free, so just make a Silver account and re-download it fresh so you don't waste the license transfer for one thing.
