I've got battlefiled bad company 2 today through the post same time as a friend of mine, we both have veteran status.

When i logged on the game, nothing, when he logged on the game he got a welcome back veteran message and he unlocked the m1 garand :(

Anyone have this issue?

Any ideas why I have got veteran status on Bad Company 1 and it's demo on the veteran website, but at the top it says veteran status 0 ???

Also I can't claim veteran status on BF:BC2 because when I select it, there is no field to type in my gamertag ???

Any ideas ???

They were supposed to update BFBC2 and BF1943 automatically without you having to type anything in, but they haven't even got it to work with 1943 yet, so I don't know when they will add BFBC2 automatically.

FYI: I have the M1 Garand and according to the site I have a Vet Rank of 2. I've played BF2MC, BFBC1 and BFBC1 Demo. I also played BFBC2 and BF1943 but they don't show up.

To get Veteran status for Bad Company 2, you need to do it through the official website; badcompany2.ea.com (sections of it are down due to high traffic). When it's working again, login and select My Soldier, you can manually do it there.

1943's Veteran status can be updated by using the EA Support features (support.ea.com/chat), you can also get BF1942 added that way (you need a valid CD Key though).

@Adz - Thats the way veteran status works. The first game you add, you do not go up in rank, when you add game number 2, you will be Veteran +1, game 3 = Veteran +2 etc etc. The demo does not matter (neither do the expansion packs for the others).

@Slacky - Have you played BF1943? Im sure the M1 Garand is only for those who played that.

im uber frustrated. ive linked my gamertag to my EA acct. But (i guess) because ive changed my name since ive played these games i cant get veteran status for them. Same gamertag just names changed. I find my old names on the leaderboards for each game, but it will only let me link active gamertags to my ea acct. I dont understand the fail here. When i popped in BC1 it already knew i had played the demo, and was a veteran of bf2mc. Didnt have to do a thing.

any help?

ok so i feel the need to mention some of the name changes were not voulentary(sp)

EDIT: Conf that ea live customer support will fix this for you, but the link in this thread is no good. started at @ 9 pm est on a monday took about 40 mins total. I have my MI but it doesnt show me as a veteran, wtfever.

Their site is getting pounded with traffic. They have stated a few times that things make take a while to work properly. I'm frustrated with it too, but nothing we can do but wait.

Easy wat to get veteran status:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=957917&topic=53758626

- Set up your EA Account (either through EA.com or by playing BC2 online for the first time).
- Download the Battlefield 2 PC Demo ( from http://www.filefront.com/3876613/The-Battlefield-2-Demo/ )
- Install the demo, launch it, and follow the in-game steps to create a new BF2 online account.
- Quit the game. You don't need to play a full match, first -- all I did was select the first available server from the multiplayer lists, and then quit immediately afterwards.
- Go to http://veteran.battlefield.com and log in using your EA Account credentials. Register your BF2 online account -- one down, one to go.
- Go to the Battlefield Heroes website (http://www.battlefieldheroes.com/) and create a new hero under your existing EA account credentials
- Return to http://veteran.battlefield.com and confirm that the BF:Heroes emblem has appeared as well

Congratulations! You are now "Veteran Status 1" and will receive the Garand when you next sign in to BC2.

Because you probably don't have Veteran Status for BF1943, it has to be done manually by the EA support line, which has been posted more then once in the thread.

slackydave, which of you played the game first?

I'm also a Veteran, but I first played BC2 a few hours after one of my friends did...His Veteran status was recognized and he got his M1 Garand and Veteran rank icon, where-as mine wasn't (I also didn't get the gamer picture that the LE is supposed to give you.)

I have a feeling this is because they've shut down certain features of the Veteran status service (anybody with a Veterank rank icon just has an empty white box right now; their number isn't shown) in between the time my friend and I first booted up our copies.

So if you played the game after your friend, then my hypothesis is right and they disabled the Battlefield Veteran program before you were able to claim your rewards, but after your friend got his.

What i had to do was download Battlefield 2 demo on my pc like a guy said up there and this took me veteran games to 3 and increased my veteran status to a 2. Then the next time i logged onto battlefield bad company 2 it said welcome back veteran blah blah blah here is your Garand :)

You have to wait because Dice believes in the "release it now, fix and patch it later" policy.

Is there anyway to Fix this?

I registered at EA ages ago. Since then my email address is no longer ood as the isp closed down plus I lost my password.

The only way i can reset my info is via email and/or gamertag. This sends a reset message to my old account.

Is there a way to resolve this?

I can confirm this. I just unlocked the garand after I got my veteran status to 2. I originally had rank 1 from bad company 1 and battlefield heroes but after looking in this thread I downloaded the demo for battlefield 2 and through that I got my veteran status to rank 2. After doing that I turned on my xbox and started up bad company 2, as soon as the game started I got the "welcome back veteran" message letting me know that I had unlocked the garand!

Well I would have veteran status 2 if it recognized BF1943. I was also able to get the site to show that I owned BF2 and 2 of the expansions packs, which is true I did and I had Veteran Status 2 but can't get it recongize on BC2. I might try the demo trick and see what happens. So frustrating, this stuff should work on day one. I understand server loads but seriously they should be more prepared.

The only thing i dont like about the Garand, is you have to use the Iron Sights on it. I wish i could use it like a sniper rifle. Unless you can actually attach a sight to it an i jus havent figured that out yet?

I don't know if its an issue with the game or whether EA set it like this but...

To attain Veteran Status on Bad Company 2 you have to have a veteran status of 2.

I have a veteran status of 2 now because I have played the first bad company, battlefield heroes and Battlefield 2.

Well, you have to sign up for the veterans status.

and remember to use the e-mail address that is linked to your gamertag. Once registered select the games from the drop down box on the right and enter the required details. Although as you may of figured 1943 doesn't work.

I got it up to 4 somehow. All I did was:

Played the B2 demo (my veteran status also says I played two expansions even though I don't think I did :U but idk if they counted that towards my status)

Played Bad Company legitimately and the demo (i dont think the demo counts towards the status not sure though)

Played BHeroes off the site since its free

Registered/linked them all up onto http://veteran.battlefield.com/

And I managed to get BCompany 2 added thanks to some guy on GameFAQs.

1: What I mean is when you go to www.battlefieldbadcompany2.com (http://www.battlefieldbadcompany2.com), make it looks like this, www.battlefieldbadcompany2.com/login (http://www.battlefieldbadcompany2.com/login). Then you can log in.

2: Now change the address manually to www.battlefieldbadcompany2.com/stats (http://www.battlefieldbadcompany2.com/stats). This will bring up your stat sheet, and it will most likely not be updated, but that's ok.

3: Now, on the stat sheet you should see a little avatar/icon of a soldier of some sort on the upper left hand of the screen. Next to this icon, to the right a bit you should see Position, System and Veteran Status. This part is simple. Simply click on Veteran Status.

4: This is assuming you have at least two games registered. The BF2 demo worked for me, so I can confirm that you can use that, as well as signing up for Battlefield Heroes, which I also did. These two games alone will give you Veteran Rank 1, enough to unlock the M1 Garand.

5: Ok, now that that's all said and one, log into the game, and go to "My Stats" under the Multiplayer option. This should update your stats and recognize the signal for your Veteran status, thus unlocking the Garand. If it worked you'll get a little confirmation message stating so.oh and, bad company 2 didnt show up on the veteran page for me but it DID show up on my stats page. so i guess dont worry if you dont see it on the site, should show up ingame though. (atleast for me it did)

I played the BF2 demo for a minute and it registered and unlocked the M1 Garand. So I can confirm you have to have level 2 veteran status. Which I should have like level 5 if their site was working right but whatever. I had BC1, BF Heroes, and the BF2 demo, got me level 2 status.

I created a BF veteran account months ago trying to get the veteran weapon on BC1 and now realise it's because I haven't used the e-mail that's linked to my GT. I have numerous e-mail addresses and the one used on my BF veteran profile is my "mail@____________" address and I need to use the one linked to my GT. Well, I'd probably get the same problems there. It's not the demo itself which is the problem, it's account related so I think I'll save the money :)

Besides, my computer probably isn't good enough to run it properly, and there are no achievements ;) I'm just running the demo for the Veteran status.

How do you claim your veteran status in BF:BC2 if you have already played it ???

When I first played it I had only BF:BC1 - so the status was 0

But now I also have heroes, so the status is at 1

But in BF:BC2 my veteran of 1 does not show, how do I make it show ???

As it has been determined in this thread now, a veteran status of 2 is needed for any veteran rank to show on Bad Company 2.

I way in which you may be able to increase your veterans rank is to download Battlefield 2 for the PC, not to be confused with bad company 2.

And I managed to get BCompany 2 added thanks to some guy on GameFAQs.

oh and, bad company 2 didnt show up on the veteran page for me but it DID show up on my stats page. so i guess dont worry if you dont see it on the site, should show up ingame though. (atleast for me it did)

Hmm, it shows veteran status 1 on the site but it hasn't updated in the game yet. Oh well, I am sure it will. I have BF Heroes, BFBC1 and 2 showing and also have Battlefield 1943. Guess I'll just wait it out...

It basically shows other people that you have played previous battlefield games.

No, a veteran level of 2 is needed to unlock the m1 garand.

that ea support link, in this thead goes to a dodgy looking pc support chat page, with no mention of ea or battlefield any where to be seen, are you sure its safe to give all my details, gamertag, email, etc.

Honestly, i wouldn't bother emailing them either. I've been waiting weeks for a reply.

On top of that, i emailed them about a year ago with the same problem, and still haven't heard back.

Mine is wack, my veteran web page is broken, and shows my BC1 game and demo, and battlefield heros, (but i own Modern Combat, BC2, and 1943) but i've got a veteran level of 0. Yet when i play online on my xbox, it shows my veteran status as 2... the correct level. So i don't get it, how can the game be right, and the webpage wrong! lol Guess i shouldn't complain :P

Does a GT change or trading in BC1 affect any of this?

I really hope this isn't the cause of my problems...

GT change may... who knows how that would effect EA. But if you've traded BC1 then thats all good, i'm pretty sure you just need to have played it online for it to register on the veteran site (when its working that is)

I dont think a change in your gamertag if you paid 800 MS points for it to be changed would do anything, but if you made a new one then yes it would because the email won't be linked to your EA account.

He got it wrong, it's http://support.ea.com, not ea.support.com. The domain name is always the last one before .com, .org or whatever.

Like, a page called microsoft.blabla.com is not an MS web page, but blabla.microsoft.com would be.

To sum up this thread so no-one else makes anymore posts.

To unlock the M1 Garand on Bad Company 2 you required a veteran level of 2 prior to playing the game.
http://veteran.battlefield.com/

To increase your veterans status you need to have played previous games, for example Bad Company 1. You can still play those games now to increase your veterans rank.

A quick way to increase your veterans rank is to download Battlefield 2.

Download the Battlefield 2 PC Demo ( from http://www.filefront.com/3876613/The...efield-2-Demo/ (http://www.filefront.com/3876613/The-Battlefield-2-Demo/) ) Thank you Pyrochaos for this point.

Another way to increase your rank would be to play Battlefield Heroes, easy to do and completely free.
http://www.battlefieldheroes.com/

And still if you do not have the Garand do not post here as we are not EA moderators and cannot help you anymore than i have listed above. If you have any other questions about Veteran Status visit EAs support website and sort the rest of it out there.

BF1943 CAN BE LINKED TO YOUR ACCOUNT.

You just have to sit in the queue for ea support chat untill a nice person comes along. Then you ask them do it it for you, you give them the email of your account, confirm what console you play on and its done.

Wait time in the queue for me was about 30 mins, actual job, 2 mins.

If you want it enough its not a problem.

Ah ok thanks, looks like i won't have a very good veteran status seeing as I've only played BC1 before.

Is there a way to link 1943 WITHOUT sitting on the phone for half an hour? I've played it loads months ago but it doesn't highlight on the veteran.battlefield page. Surely it's been fixed by now?

So I emailed EA support a few days back and they got back to me, explained that I fixed the BF2 status by using the demo but wanted my BF1943 status. So they fixed that and now I have veteran status 3. So fire them an email. May take them a bit to get back to you but they fixed it all. :P

Yup that happened to me aswell to be fair.

I just went in again.

You dont have to do it on the phone guys, it can all be done on the support.ea.com site.

You just have to make sure you go on between the hours that they work which is based on pacific time or something I know I had to go on quite late in the day to get someone as I'm here in England.
