I just wanted to share and hear from you guyz about it ...

Am i the only one who found that there's so many cliché to FFVII, they arent totally easy to catch or understand but i found so many cliché so far.

I'll give you some example.

The beginning of the game made me think a little bit like the beginning of FFVII, you come on a train in a kindof (environment talking) base or compagny just like the shinra base.

Just like FFVII there's a black guy in your team Sazh and he uses guns.
and Oerba Yun Fang make me think of Tifa a little bit.
and hope aswell for some reason reminds me of cloud in a way.

The chocobo funny things.

*SPOILER* This one isnt really that big to catch but *SPOILER*
Later in the game when you're with snow and hope and you flee from the psicoms the military in charge (Yaag Rosch) make me think of sephiroth for some reason.

This is some i found so far :P

If you guyz found any just share them ;)

Hope looks just like Tidus in FFX. And Vannile (SP?) looks and even runs just like Yuna in X2.

Dude, to me Hope is like Vaan from FFXII's lost twin.

From that picture I would have to agree that Hope does resemble the AC/DC Cloud.

That's Advent Children / Dirge of Cerberus.

I read somewhere that Lightning looks like Ashe and Vanille is somewhat like Rikku.

So many people were complaining about the video from E3 about FFVII remake but if you look at it in a more complex way ... FFXIII is kind of the FFVII remake with all thoses cliché and ambiance as well as the story.

The story another little cliché :P
all this military stuff and that the main character is a kinda ex military agent :P just like cloud.

Just found another one that is really ... easy to understand.

*spoiler* chapter 8 *spoiler*

When you control sazh and vanille , you are going into an amusement park with chocobos all around the place ... dosnt it ring you any bell? and the environment is kinda similar to the environment in ffvii.

Kinda like the place with all the arcades and casinos from VII.

(added)
+ the music with the chocobos is almost as the exact same one from the chocobo farm.

This is everything so wrong. You could also say FFXIII is like every other FF just because Bahamut and Shiva is in it. That would be pretty much the same way of compairing like you guys do here...

That's why i didnt quote Shiva and Bahamut ... nor CID.

But there is just so many cliché to VII that you can't deny.
And since i'm a HUGE fan of VII this is a reason why i enjoy FFXIII for all those cliché to the game with all the new stuff to them.

Just like the fact that the main character is an ex Military just like Cloud and that you start the game in a Train, coincidence?
The Black guy is the one using Gunz, coincidence?
and some more that i've already said.
There is just SO MUCH that you can't really tell otherwise.

FFXIII makes me think of a VII ripoff and renewed in so many ways.

And yeah ... guess you could say it, i'm a FFVII fanboy :P

The Game Informer from I think November had an interview with the guys that designed the game... They blatently said in there that they drew a lot of inspiration from FFVII, and that the head designer wanted them to design Lightning as a "female version of Cloud Strife".

I think you're confusing "cliche" with "homage." Cliches are what this game (and FFVII... and almost ALL the FF's) is built around. Nods to other games in the series are called homages... or sometimes even allusions.

Bahamut, Shiva, Weapon, Materia, Chocobos, Shiva - these are all signature marks of a Final Fantasy game. To say they don't belong is to say this should be another game altogether.

So far if anything, I've found Lightening to be more like a female version of Cloud. She's quiet, reserved, ex-military and fights with a sword (granted its not one 50 times her size). There's something very dark about her that I haven't put my finger on yet but I'm only in Chapter 3.

The other character similarity I've noticed is with the gun-toting black guy (can't remember his name, sorry). His witty retort reminds me of Barrett and.. well... he's black and uses guns. At least Square didn't OG him out.

I think every new Final Fantasy game is somewhat like Final Fantasy games before...

For instance they all use almoste the same types of characters: the quiet leader with hidden emotions (Cloud, Squall, Lightning), the happy and cheerful type (Vanille, Rikku, that girl from VIII), the "old-man" (Auron, Sazh, etc.) and the cool guy (Snow, Tidus, Vaan...). Even the story is similiar to older versions, you mostly know what will happen and which secrets will be revealed - although it varies a bit.

But this doesn't make the series worse, I think it even makes them better. You feel familiar with a new Final Fantasy after the first few minutes, even if it's a brand new game :)

In fact, almost every JRPG is somewhat the same to others...

Disagree. If anything I got more of a FFX vibe from this game moreso than VII. (Only 9 hours in at Chapter 5)

Superficially
-NPC designs (NORA at al), and costumes are more similar to X
-Vanille and Rikku are practically the same
-Fireworks in shielded sphere with everyone staring at it (revisted scene), is definitely similar to Blitzball and how it looked

Story
-Sphere Grid - Crystallization = Practically the same
-Despite people saying the intro plays similar to VII the only thing really similar to VII is the use of the color green, and the train with soldiers. The environment is, however, more like FFX where you're running across a collapsing bridge with Tidus and Auron in Zanarkand.
-Both 10 and 13 have the "oh look where we find ourselves, let's get to point B to figure out what's going on here" story. Tidus and co must travel episodically through different locals to get to Sin and save the world (Spira). Lightning and co must travel episodically through different locals to get to Ragnarok and save the world (Cacoon). The story told through almost in medias res style (Tidus retelling the story via monologue around a campfire) wheras in 13 we have Vanille giving monologues with repeated flashbacks.

The biggest stray I think that 13 has over any other FF, however, is the more I think about it... almost every character is related to each other because of the bodhum fal'cie train incident (ala Crash/Love Actually), as opposed to an initial group going out on a mission and pick up friends along the way (FF2-12).

I think XIII reminds me more of X than VII.

Vanille -> Rikku
Fang -> Kimahri/Paine
Long weapon wielders, also looks like they could've came form the same tribe.
Looks remind me of Paine. ManWoman
Aeons -> Aidolons
Character and summon fight along each other.
Sphere Grid -> Crystallium

SPOILER
From what was said on Chapter 9, one of your members must become Ragnarok. This is similar to FFX where they're goal was to kill Sin, but find out that one of them must become Sin.

At the start of the game, when you first meet snow and his red haired friend, did anyone notice those 2 combind are basically Zell from FF8?

Yes because trains have NEVER been used in an RPG before.

Just like FFVII there's a black guy in your team Sazh and he uses guns.

Only similarity with Sazh and Barret is that he's black and he uses guns. Both of them characteristically are pretty different.

The other two I don't know what your talking about

The chocobo funny things.

Yes, because Final Fantasy VII and XIII are the only Final Fantasy's to include Chocobo's.

I hope you realise Chocobos are *meant* to be something of similarity. They're in most if not all Final Fantasy games, in some shape or form. They're a landmark thing for Final Fantasy games, much like Moogles, Pheonix Downs, Ultima and Omega Weapon, Bahumat, Shiva, Ifrit, etc, etc...

Personally, the red haired guy reminded me more of Wakka from Final Fantasy X.
