Hugo Weaving (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/911/911068.html) is in talks to play supervillain Red Skull (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/924/924044.html) in The First Avenger: Captain America (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/034/034020.html).

According to The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2010/03/captain-america-villain-hugo-weaving-as-red-skull.html), Marvel Studios are in negotiations with the actor and will confirm if the deal is done in the next few days.

Weaving is most famous for his role as Agent Smith in the Matrix films and also played Elrond in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

In Captain America comic lore, the Red Skull was Hitler's right-hand man who engaged in all manner of unspeakably evil acts.

I like the casting on this part, they should have picked a better comparison picture IMO.

Well, I hope he gets casts. He is a great actor. I wish he were in more movies. But it's not done deal yet, they are still in negotiations.

I hope Captain America will be good. The thing with Superhero movies is that they can go so wrong or so right.

Fantastic Four (Wrong) X-Men (Right)
Superman Returns (Wrong) The Dark Knight (Right)
