View Full Version : So... Who actually uses a Headset when playing online? :)

Personally, I'm using my Sharkoon X-Tatic V3s. Only found out how amazing war tapes is the other day and I have to say this game is easily the best surround sound experience I've had... like ever! I was extremely disappointed with the sound when I first got it, but changing the settings in game really brought it to life, and no more getting knifed in the back either.

I don't think I could survive using the bog standard TV speakers, and even my 5.1 system doesn't immerse me in the heat of battle as well as a headset does.

So what do you use? :woop:

I just use my normal wireless 360 headset, was thinking about getting X1's the other day when i had to get a new mic but then I saw:

Turtle Beach X1, was going to get X41s but you could try them in GAME and there really wasn't any difference except wireless.

I use war tapes when I'm on multiplayer and listen to music when I'm on campaign.

i always have my headset on, whilst on XBL - saves having to search for the damn thing should one of my friends send a message etc

i self-mute, so as to not disturb the silence ;)

I almost always wear my Astro A40's when I play, war tapes is unbelieveable. The only time I don't is when my wife is watching me play and trying to help by saying "Over there!" lol

Turtle Beach X1s only because I was tired of replacing the mediocre official xbox 360 wired mics. I had gone through 3 and was on the verge of getting my 4th a few months back but then thought for 40 I couldn't go wrong with the X1s. Up until that point I had already coughed up About 39 on 3 of the official mics at 13 each and so figured it wasn't worth spending another 13 for it to last a few months if I am lucky. I bought the X1s for 40 and have never looked back they have been fine since I got them which I think might be approaching half a year ago now. :D

Also, yes, the war tapes are incredible. The sound in the game is unbelievable.

EDIT: Changed bog standard to mediocre to avoid the overuse of the phrase.

I use the bog standard Xbox 360 headset. I use it all the time when I am playing online and BFBC2 especially. My headset decided to break recently so I am being forced to play without for a few days :(

I saw today in the mall here in Utah that Skullcandy has gaming headsets. Has anyone used these before? And if so how are they?? My Xbox headset recently broke and i'm looking for a headset. Not a headset where you hear the game through em. But a headset I can plug into my controller and talk to teammates. Don't need a head set when I got 5.1 Surround bustin out War tapes setting. LOVE IT!!!!! :D Heres the pics from Skullcandy.com And the GI (First picture) goes for $60.00

Skull Candy, Triton, Astro, Turble Beach: all quality gaming headsets, but personally I go for TB. I have x52's or my pc, x4's for my 360, and x1's for my customers to use.

Whoever said they cant tell the difference between x1's an d x4's needs to try different games and settings. The x1's use RCA stereo jacks, the x4's use optical. There is a difference on games that have been optimized for quality. Its like hearing people say they dont see a difference with 1080p, then it turns out they were looking at a game that was only actually made for 480p.

In shadowrun I can tell the difference between sounds that are in front or behind me and not just side to side, but strangely in MW2, the surround sound is not as.. accurate for lack of a better word. BC2 has great sound for surround headphones, imho!

I use Astros...they are fantastic. Quick (dumb) question...what are these war tapes everyone speaks of? Under Options > Audio, it's a type of sound setting.

Default is Hi-Fi.

Mmm...War Tapes...<3

War Tapes FTW!!

I use the 360 official headset, but I can't understand neither speak English very well. I want to buy a headset which you can hear both the in-game sound and the chat.
