Wonderland helmer reportedly eyes return to cartoonist roots.

Tim Burton (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916855.html) is reportedly eying The Addams Family (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/065/065989.html) as a future project.

Deadline (http://www.deadline.com/2010/03/tim-burton-next-3d-animated-film-da-da-da-snap-snap-the-addams-family/) reports that Burton will direct a 3D, stop-motion animated film for llumination Entertainment that will draw its inspiration from the original Charles Addams (http://www.charlesaddams.com/) comics strip rather than the TV series, the 1990s movies or the Broadway musical.

"His intention is to go back to the litany of Addams illustrations that displayed a sharper wit than could be placed into a '60s family TV series," the site claims. A screenwriter is expected to be hired shortly.

How much do you wanna bet that Johnny Depp voices Gomez Addams and Helena Bonham Carter voices Morticia? Come to think of it, why not bring back Christina Ricci to voice Wednesday? (She and Burton previously worked together on Sleepy Hollow.)

I would really like to see this. I saw The Addams Family when it was in theaters! Hell, I used to watch re-runs of the old TV show as well. Absolutely love it!

Addams Family and Tim Burton. That sounds like a perfect fit to me. Sounds like another Nightmare Before Christmas or Corpse Bride, I'm totally game for and Addams Family in that style.

Just came across this article with Burton denying any involvement with Addams Family at the moment

I know what you mean. On the bright side it was a pretty weak denial. Looked more like a "how the hell did they hear about that" denial rather than a "not a chance in hell" denial.

Although I loved the original movies, this would be just right for Burton to remake.
Let's just hope it doesn't FAIL as much as Alice in Wonderland.

Tim Burton certainly has some magical powers. Whatever he touches turns into complete shit. Anyone remember how bad the 'Planet of the Apes' remake was?

Sleepy Hollow, Batman, Batman Returns, Bettlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Mars Attacks, Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

Yeah, cause those were all horrible movies that he did now weren't they. /sarcasm.

Addams Family is a near perfect fit for Burton. Especially if he is doing it The Nightmare Before Christmas/Corpse Bride style animation.

Obvious misunderstanding is obvious. I love those films (Bar Corpse Bride, I just thought that was a inferior version of Nightmare), back in the 80's and 90's, his hands were made of gold, now they're made of faeces.

Ha, that last statement made me think of an obscure comedy I watched many years ago called High Strung. Basically this dude bitches about pretty much everything the whole movie and one little rant is about flies and he goes on about them having shit on their hands. Hillarious. Jim Carrey plays Death in a very small part in that movie.

Anyway, back on topic. Yeah I can sort of see where you are coming from there. I did really like Big Fish and though he only produced it I loved 9 as well. So the 2000's weren't complete crap from him. I still think that an Addams Family animated movie is right up his alley.

You forgot 'Planet of the Apes'. The remake with Tim Roth and Marky Mark. Movie has damaged me for life.

Part of me thinks Tim Burton needs to stop......I mean what was once unique and creative about his works is now predictable candy for goth/emo kids

Tim is becoming soft these days, I wish he would return to the darker abstract things he use to do.
