Oscar winner rumored to be up for Bond 23

Rumor has it that 007's next villain might be a woman -- and an Oscar winner to boot.

Cinema Blend (http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Rachel-Weisz-Could-Be-James-Bond-s-Next-Villain-17780.html) claims to have heard that English actress Rachel Weisz (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/914/914576.html) -- best known to fanboys for her roles in the Mummy movies and Constantine, but also an Academy Award winner for The Constant Gardener -- is being considered "to play the head of Quantum, the secret organization responsible for all the bad guy activity in the last two films. More than just another Bond babe, she'd be the mastermind pulling the strings behind everything that's happened in Daniel Craig's Bond movies so far, and the architect of James Bond's suffering."

Weisz and Craig are currently filming the thriller Dream House (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/011/011043.html). Ironically, Weisz used to date Bond 23 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/949/949989.html)'s presumed director, Sam Mendes (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/918/918327.html).

Rachel Weisz in The Constant Gardener.

Right now, this is all just rumor, but it's interesting to consider James Bond (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/923/923632.html) finally meeting his match in the form of a beautiful British woman.

And here I thought is was asking who the next one would be. I was all ready to say Vladimir Putin :p

I could kinda see Weisz playing a baddie though.

I'm not objecting but I loved the villains of old. Jaws, Oddjob, Red Grant. I guess the freakish monstrous type villain wouldn't really fit into the modern Bond movie.
