View Full Version : Who Will Win the 2007 World Series?

The season is just over a week away! And so I thought I would start up a discussion/poll about who everyone thinks (or wants!) will win the World Series. For the poll, please vote for who you THINK will win it all. But, also feel free to post a message about who you WANT to win it all. Unless you are lucky enough to have both be the same in your mind. ;)

I included all of the 8 playoff teams from last year, plus a team who always has a lot of potential... So, don't be mad if your team is not listed. I can only list 10 (including "other"). Sorry.

A lot of good teams had to be left off (Blue Jays, Cubs, White Sox, Angels, Astros, Phillies, etc.). So feel free to vote "other" and elaborate. :)

-------------------------
Personally, I THINK the Detroit Tigers will win it all. They were a young team last year and still made it almost allll the way. They will only be better and more experienced this year. Plus, they added Gary Sheffield to their solid lineup.

I WANT the Minnesota Twins to win, of course. And, if our pitching comes around and a couple young starting pitchers step up and produce, you will see us again in October. At which time, Francisco Liriano will help us coast through the playoffs with the best pitching combo in the league. That is my dream. And I will cheer and hope for it to come true all summer long.

I'm not really huge on baseball for the first 155 games of the season, so I guess I'll just pick the Yankees because that's just what they do. And because the Red Sox have no closers.

boston has Jonathan Pappelbon closing, he was good last year.

Its all about the New York Mets. If they can pull off one trade for a pitcher it won't be close. There lineup belongs in the AL with (reyes/lo duca/beltran/delgado/wright/alou/green/valentin). Really everyone in the NL is fighting for 2nd

papelbon is in the rotation this year. hes not closing anymore. they have definite question marks in their rotation. but they will still be solid.

the mets are definitely one of the top 2 or 3 in the NL, no doubt.

I got to go with the Mets. They came awfully close last year and they are getting more new and young talent. I've been rooting for the Mets for 14 years now, and I want to see them win a World Series! (I am also a Boston fan, well, basically anyone who beats the Yankees. :p )

No, he is closing again, but still: meh. The Red Sox really need someone other than him; in my opinion he was not as godly as people were saying.

The Tigers will only win if their pitchers learn how to field... I am a Cardinals fan, and I still felt bad enough for the Tigers pitchers that I would have suited up and taken a couple of ground balls for them...

Anyway, Cardinals repeat in '07!

I will have to go with my Cubs after how bad last season was, we can only go up from there and now we have Sweet Lou who won it with the Reds, so hopefully he can bring his magic to the Windy City!

Also, Soriano won't hurt at least not @ the plate ;)

Or around the bases. Must be nice to have a 40/40 guy. We could get one, too, if we decided to spend OVER $200 MILLION in the offseason.

Way to be the Yankees of the NL Central. ;) I kid, I kid.

Without putting much thought into it, I'll say IF the Twins can win their division, I would pick them to win. I do like the Tigers also. Both are very good teams in a very challenging division.

I promise the WS winner will not come from the AL West. Oh how I miss the days when that was the dominant division.

On the NL side of things, oh, the Cards.

You are right. Being a long-time Cubs fan it is kind of sad that it came down to this but with with all of the injuries and our storied past I think if any team gets a pass it is the Cubs :)

Also, I just had my fantasy baseball draft last night and I was the 1st pick, guess who I picked? Hint: He wasn't a Cubby ;)

If the Yankees stay as hot as they are now no team can defeat them on their way to the SHIP!
