Last I heard, it was going to be Fridays, with 7 games released every Friday, starting at the end of this month. I just checked the official site and there is no mention of which day, only that new games will be added every week, though.

There was an interesting interview on one of the recent Major Nelson podcasts, in which it was stated that there are over 100 games already ready for release and they have (or expect to soon close) deals with nearly every developer you can imagine. Ooh, I would love to see what a release schedule would be like.

Thanks Shannon! Makes me wanna ditch more of this month even quicker. Too bad work is in the way. Life of a 19 year old, I guess. lol

I can't wait until some new games get released! I've been checking the 'news' in the Gameroom almost everyday, but nothing.. =(
Now I know when to expect it! ^__^

btw, does anyone know what range of games we could be expecting? Like, right now it's been really oooold stuff, 70's early 80's which is still great, but will they eventually also have newer things (like later 80's, nintendo, sega, etc)? I would be thrilled if they did =D

THERE WILL NOT BE ANY NINTENDO!!! Seriously... As for that, no, there's not a stated time frame. The latest right now is 1988 (the intellivision skiing game). I'd say, for now at least, you're probably not going to see much past that. I'd guess through the early 90s at latest. As for later: who knows?

I'd like Wizards and Warriors and Pong. W&W was my favorite Nintendo game.

The deal with non-nintendo NES games is that all games on the NES (except the Tengen ones [multiple lawsuits] and the bible ones [eh, no one cared, even nintendo]) had to be licensed by nintendo to be released on the system. This, I believe, applies to at least the SNES as well (although I may be wrong there). What I don't know (because I seriously doubt anyone was thinking about it at the time) is whether that licensing agreement gives nintendo any residual rights over the content. They very well could have approval rights for any future use for anything coded for the NES. It all depends on how the agreement was worded. Also, I'm pretty sure that this would require an emulator for the NES, which would, I would think, have to contain SOMETHING on which the copyright was owned by nintendo. I don't know whether the first applies or not, but I'm pretty sure the second HAS to, and there is NO way nintendo is approving ANYTHING for release on the 360. There can be other versions of NES games, but I'm almost positive there is NO way a true NES game (other than, humorously enough, possibly the tengen games) can be on the 360 without a flurry of lawsuits. Short version: Not happenin'.

Contra was on the Nintendo. Dont think it was on any other system...and it was released on the 360.

From Wikipedia it was released on:

Arcade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcade_game), NES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_Entertainment_System), MSX2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSX), ZX Spectrum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZX_Spectrum), Amstrad CPC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amstrad_CPC), Commodore 64 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_64), MS-DOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS-DOS), PlayStation 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2), Xbox 360 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360) (XBLA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live_Arcade)), Nintendo DS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS), PC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_PC)

Also, even though the Contra on the NES and Contra on XBox 360 Arcade are the same game (same levels and all), they're quite a bit different. I'm not sure of all the reasons for this, but the point is the exact version of Contra on NES will probably never come to Xbox.

That's the arcade version of Contra on XBLA, not the NES version. >.<

Yeah well it's obvious 'real' Nintendo games would not be released in game room, however, I'm hoping for 'multi-system'-games that was released during the NES/sega period, platform games and other awesome games that existed during this time.

There is absolutely nothing stopping NES games from coming to the 360. If it was not made by Nintendo, Nintendo has no say in the matter. For example, look at Banjo-Kazooie, Tooie, and Perfect Dark. All three were originally Nintendo-exclusive games.

True true, basically we can all just speculate, we have no real idea of what the corporations are planning or actually able to do.

Banjo Tooie, Kazooie, and Perfect Dark were all made by Rareware. Microsoft bought out Rare, that's why you'll probably never see those three games on the Wii's Virtual console. Goldeneye's copyrights are a bit messy between the two, so I don't expect to see that on either.

Actually I would assume that the goldeneye problem has more to do with Activision (because they currently have the James Bond liscense) than either nintendo or MS. That's why the 1989 TMNT game is co-published by ubisoft (because they currently hold the TMNT liscense) even though they had nothing to do with the game.

I just want the X-Men Arcade. That is all. Did spend over two hours playing Yar's Revenge, though. Love that game.

Are you referring to the Nintendo Game? Cause I played as Iceman when I was really little, and went into the practice level and never got anywhere cause it was practice. I was about 8. >.>

You don't want X-Men Arcade in Game Room. You want a revamped, full XBLA experience with 6-player, online co-op. Game Room can't handle it properly.

Seen the list of the games coming out the 28th not to impressed with them but at least they should be coming out regularly now with new titles...
