Only it's not Jaws, and hopefully it's not bad.
Jaws 3-D (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/872/872418.html) was ahead of its time, as it turns out. That 1983 picture infamously gave us carnivorous fish in three dimensions, and while it was lambasted upon release, we now find ourselves almost 30 years later writing about… carnivorous fish in three dimensions. In the words of Leoben (not to mention Peter Pan), all of this has happened before...

Look for our exclusive Piranha 3D interviews later today, which is also much ado about man-eating aquatics, but in the meantime sink your teeth into this news: Snakes on a Plane and The Final Destination helmer David R. Ellis (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/918/918082.html) will direct Shark Night 3D (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/068/068859.html), which according to Deadline (http://www.deadline.com/2010/04/david-r-ellis-adds-chum-to-3d-shark-tank/), "its makers hope will be Jaws for the 3D generation."

The film shoots this summer in Louisiana with a $28 million budget, and was written by a couple of guys named Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes. Ellis' Final Destination was shot in 3D, so he has the experience to right the wrongs committed by Louis Gossett Jr (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/917/917895.html). and Dennis Quaid (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/910/910764.html) in Jaws 3-D. He also did second-unit directing on The Perfect Storm and Deep Blue Sea, so he's gotten wet before. The animatronic sharks will be created by Walt Conti (also a Deep Blue Sea vet).

Serious?

I'm gonna feel like I'm back at Universal Studios when I watch this.. lol

Deep Blue Sea wasn't an all great film either but I think most of thsoe directors/producers are there because they've had experiance in this type of film.

lol yeah serious.

Hollywood is at a dead end by the look of it... it's Re-boots, Re-Makes, Sequels or Comic Book Films!

mind you i'm still awaiting confirmation of Short Circuit 3, Gremlins 3 and the next film in the Childs Play / Chucky series.

with all the trend at the moment can only imagine it'll be a matter of time ;)

They just seem to be using the 3d aspect to churn out any old junk at the minute.
