Bill Condon (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/913/913972.html) is reportedly the number-one pick to direct the final two films in the Twilight series -- parts one and two of Breaking Dawn (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/143/14342192.html). And while the Dreamgirls helmer might seem an odd choice at first glance, Condon does in fact have some monstrous experience under his belt...

According to Deadline (http://www.deadline.com/2010/04/is-bill-condon-about-to-sink-fangs-into-twilight-sagas-two-final-segments/), Summit Entertainment hasn't signed the helmer yet, but "after several strong meetings, they are negotiating." We'd heard previously that Condon was one of several A-listers that the studio was talking to, including Gus Van Sant (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/917/917148.html), Sofia Coppola (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/910/910767.html) and Fernando Meirelles (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/915/915062.html).

Shooting will begin in the fall, reportedly with both films happening back-to-back.

As for Condon's experience in the realm of monsters and the such, let's not forget that before he got all fancy with Kinsey and Dreamgirls, his second feature helming gig was Candyman 2! And he also directed the biopic Gods and Monsters, which was about James Whale, the filmmaker behind the first two classic Universal Frankenstein films.
