Sony is said to have found their new web-slinger and it's a candidate who has been rumored (http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/106/1066681p1.html) from almost the moment the Spider-Man (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/057/057514.html) reboot was announced.

HitFix</B> (http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/2008-12-6-motion-captured/posts/it-s-over-folks-logan-lerman-is-spider-man) reports that teenage actor Logan Lerman (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/143/14326592.html), star of Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, is now the "frontrunner" to play the new Peter Parker for director Marc Webb (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/057/057403.html) and Columbia Pictures. The site's production source claims "Lerman is 'almost 100% locked' but not in contract negotiations for the role yet." Of course, no deal is 100% locked until a contract is signed. Lerman himself (http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/106/1066970p1.html) acknowledged in February that he was in the running to replace the screen's previous wall-crawler, Tobey Maguire (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/912/912749.html).

In addition to playing the title role in Percy Jackson, Lerman's film credits also include 3:10 to Yuma, Gamer, The Number 23, and The Patriot.

The 3D Spidey (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/923/923892.html) reboot will be shot later this year for a July 3, 2012 release. James Vanderbilt penned the script.

I havent seen enough of him to decide whether he would be good as Spiderman. Tobey did alright in the first movie but went downhill after that. While I cant name any of them Im pretty sure there are more choices then just this guy. Im still upset Marvel chose Chris Evans to play Captain America seeing as he played Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four. Just doesnt make sense to have one guy play 2 roles from a closely tied franchise that have a chance of a team up movie.

Not seeing Toby will be very bizarre. Wish he would have continued to make the Spider-Man movies.

I don't even know who this kid is. I still think Shia Labeouf would have made an awesome Spiderman :(

Every time I see Tobey Maguire I think it's Jake Gyllenhaal, so not seeing Jake Gyllenhaal as Spiderman will be odd :p

They need sarcasm tags like spoiler tags. The internet makes it hard to tell tone of voice

I don't know I think he could do well as Peter Parker I liked the way he played his role in Gamer and that would work well for the role as Parker in Spider-Man. So I say I won't be disappointed if he gets the role.

On the Toby role I liked him as spidey, but i don't think its a possibility that he can or will play him again.

I hope they do a cameo of Spider-Man trying out for the Fantastic 4 that would be comedy genius.

Oh yes.. This suggestion is a good one.. Yes. If there was a serious tag, I'd use it. Because I am deadly serious right now. That suggestion is the greatest suggestion I've ever heard.

I don't know many young(Early 20s) actors that I don't want to punch in the face. I don't hate Elijah Wood or Toby, though. Can't really think of any others.

Jon Hamm should play Spider-Man. He'd find a way to make it work, and sexy. I say this as a man confident in his sexuality.

Stop the Spidey (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/923/923892.html) casting merry-go-round! We wanna get off!

IESB (http://iesb.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=9043:iesb-exclusive-another-candidate-has-emerged-for-spider-man&catid=43:exclusive-features&Itemid=73) reports that Josh Hutcherson (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/913/913966.html) (Bridge to Terabithia) is "on the short list" to play Peter Parker in the Spider-Man (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/057/057514.html) reboot, but the site is not claiming that he's landed the highly coveted role. IESB adds that Hutcherson has been bulking up recently, and speculates that it could be for this film.

Hutcherson, 17, has also starred in Journey to the Center of the Earth, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, Zathura, Firehouse Dog, RV, Kicking & Screaming, and The Polar Express. He'll next be seen in The Kids Are All Right and the Red Dawn remake.

The 3D Spidey reboot will be shot later this year for a July 3, 2012 release. Marc Webb will direct from a script by James Vanderbilt.
