Can you believe Vin Diesel (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/913/913807.html) is finally making another Riddick (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/142/14220037.html) movie? He's talked and talked and talked about it for years, and now it's finally happening -- and new details have emerged this week regarding the project. As always, watch out for spoilers…

Corona Coming Attractions (http://www.coronacomingattractions.com/news/exclusive-script-review-chronicles-riddick-dead-man-stalking) is running a script review for the project, which will follow 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/034/034230.html)… but perhaps not surprisingly, will not really be a continuation of that film's story. Originally intended as an epic, space-faring Lord of the Rings-type trilogy, Chronicles was met with indifference at the box office and the character very nearly slipped into obscurity. Still, Diesel and his Riddick (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/923/923206.html) writer-director, David Twohy (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916837.html), have finally managed to get another movie featuring the bad-ass Furyan green-lit, but that planned trilogy is reportedly not the way they're going.

The new film, which will be called Dead Man Stalking, will be more Pitch Black (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/033/033741.html) (the original sleeper-hit Riddick movie) than Chronicles, with a lower budget ($60 mill) and a tighter, more nitty-gritty focus (a 100-page script).

"The Riddick seen in Dead Man Stalking has trimmed off the fat of Chronicles and bulked himself up better than even his Pitch Black days," reports the site. "Shortly after Riddick finds his world f#@ked once again, Twohy has the character say a line which encapsulates what went wrong with Riddick these past two movies and to put him in his current situation: He got civilized. He began to care too much about the people whose lives crossed his path. … He's got to return back to being a predator, the baddest a$$hole in the universe, if he's to survive the trials in Dead Man Stalking -- and Hollywood. Back to basics. Back to killing."

The events of the previous film are acknowledged, however, in a flashback (including Karl Urban's character), explaining why Riddick is no longer the leader of the Necromonger army. "This is a hard R script -- it's full of death action and peppered with nasty, filthy language befitting the characters you'll see in it, Riddick included," says Coming Attractions. "This is The Road Warrior to Pitch Black's Mad Max."

High praise indeed. Click over to the site (http://www.coronacomingattractions.com/news/exclusive-script-review-chronicles-riddick-dead-man-stalking) for the full report. This could turn out to be a good one…

Yes really. I agree that some of his recent roles are somewhat questionable, but the Riddick character will always be fucking awesome.

Im not a huge Vin Diesel.

As Daniel Tosh said "Hollywood on their moral high horse they wont make a movie about a retarded chimp unless of course you count a Vin Diesel movie." hahaha

But i love the Riddick movies and i cant wait for this movie

You are only saying that because the Oscars snubbed him for his fine work in The Pacifier

LOVE this character. Been wondering if they'd ever get backing to finish the trilogy, but with that out it will be nice to get a return of Riddick in any form, really!

Wow, surprised to hear about this, but pleasantly so. I remember reading about the whole trilogy plan, that the next two were supposed to take place in the Underworld place where the Necromongers were from, then the last movie would take them back to Furya. The Director's Cut of Chronicles was so so so much better than the regular cut. The regular cut left out stuff and made me go "Wtf" at what was seemingly some random occurrences, which the director's cut cleared up. I really love Pitch Black and I think I still like it better than Chronicles. The story was much more understated, and Riddick got to be Riddick. I'll be glad to see him going back to form.

Im not a huge Vin Diesel.

Me neither :p

I am a fan of Riddick though and it's good that he'll be going back to being a Badass. I had to watch the 2nd film a couple of times to enjoy it and it has grown on me over the years, but the first one was instantly likeable. If the new film is as good as Pitch Black (if not better), then we are all in for a treat !

Vin Diesel and Riddck have been two of my favorite things in Hollywood. I first saw Vin in "Pitch Black" and it blew me away. Naturally I was stoked about the sequel and even more pumped after playing the games and hearing back the follow-up trilogy that was in the works.

I had so many questions I was dying to have answered. Such as where would this story go with Vin the leader of the Necromongers? These new details have me saddened, but also very excited. As much as I love the world created in Chronicles, I loved the gritty-hardened asshole that Riddick was in the first film and I'd love to see him return to those roots.

With a good explanation as to why the story arc from Chronicles was cut somewhere in the movie as mentioned I'm sure this will be better and hopefully the most kick ass Riddick yet.

On another note, can I have my xXx 2 and F&F 5 soon please?

Even tho the plot has so many holes you could fly a prison space ship through it, I loved the Riddick movies. Looking forward to this one.
And the video games were great fun as well. :)
