I bought a '16Gb Kingston Data Traveller 102' and once it is formatted (tested/configured), it gives the warning that it does not meet minimum speed requirements! It is a 10Mb/s Read and 5Mb/s write which isn’t good enough apparently, so before I buy another one, what are the bloody minimum requirements!?

These are the 'supposed' minimum requirements

Windows FAT32 file system format (devices formatted for use with other file systems might not work)
Minimum 1 gigabyte (1GB) storage capacity

Yet the solution listed for this problem is to buy the official Xbox branded USB drives made by SanDisk. You shouldn't worry about it though as I've been using my 8gb USB stick with no problems since the update and it was listed as not being recommended either.

Here's the link to the page I got the info from.

So are the regular SanDisk USB Drives good then? I'm talking about the ones with no caps and are retractable. I don't want to shelf out $70 just for a 16gb drive. I'd rather buy a game.

I would say so, mine is a SanDisk and I've had no problems with it whatsoever and I store tons of stuff on there.

Underneath the slightly fancy casing it's the same as other flash drives.

Just to say though, shop around a little. That seems like quite a high price.

You just need to make sure you get one that is 20/30ms read and min 10ms write.

I picked up a HP v210w for 17.99 from ebay and works great!

Not that it's alot of storage...i moved all my old game saves and arcade games to the Forza Motorsport 3 SP ED jump drive with no problems. Just an FYI for those out there that didn't have much use for it

Yeah, I had to test this feature myself. Used an SD card reader and a 2GB SD card that my buddy had for his Wii (a spare one ... i don't know why he bought two) ... worked just fine.

if you bought forza 3 limited edition you can use the usb stick that came with that, yes admitedly its only 2gb but still, its better than nothing, and excellent for me as i only had 600mb left on my 20gb hdd and dont want to pay loads for a new 120gb/250gb one

If you do the math it is actually cheaper just to buy a 250gb xbox 360 hard drive for $170 considering you only get 16gb on the stick for $70!

True, but I would want the USB stick so I have something smaller to tote around. I've been looking into getting a 16 GB stick so I can put all my Rock Band songs on there so I can bring the stick over to my buds to play Rock Band on his 360.....I'm sure I can find a 16GB stick on eBay for like $20 ;)

I'm using an 8GB SanDisk Micro Cruzer (no cap - retractable). I bought it last year for $15 from NewEGG. Since I had some stuff on there I customized it for 4GB of Xbox memory. It's been working fine.

It sucks that the prices aren't nearly as good currently but $70 for an official branded USB drive is a total rip-off. You should find 16GB SanDisk drives for under $50.

That is a really good deal if it is compatible. Might have to pick that up soon before the next RB party

"According to Major Nelson, any USB flash drive over 1GB can be configured for use, with up to 16GB per device and two devices per system."

If it is not the authentic SanDisk Xbox Flashdrive then you must first go to your settings/memory/highlight the usb drive and press "Y", it will give you the option to configure it to the standerd requirements! This probably even answers the OP's original question.
