So much for tomorrow never dying.

EON Productions' Michael G. Wilson (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/911/911659.html) and Barbara Broccoli (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/915/915821.html), the producers of the James Bond (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/923/923632.html) films, announced today that they have indefinitely postponed all work on Bond 23 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/949/949989.html), which had been slated for a 2011/2012 release.

"Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23," Wilson and Broccoli said in a joint statement.

Wilson and Broccoli took over the Bond franchise in 1995 from their late father, Albert "Cubby" Broccoli, and have produced every Bond film from GoldenEye through Quantum of Solace. EON Productions and Danjaq LLC are affiliate companies and control all worldwide merchandising for James Bond.

No word yet on how this affects the attachment of Sam Mendes (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/918/918327.html) as the project's director or any of the script work that has been done to date.

This is bad news, but as far as I'm concerned James Bond died when Q was removed.

Not the best news but we dont want it to be rushed and then be a crap film or be near complete and then MGM fall through throwing everything up in the air.

As much as people may not be happy, I'd say its for the best!

Q wasn't removed, he died. Bit of a difference.

Is Craig still playing 007 in the newest film? As long as he's still Bond, I don't mind waiting.... <333

Completely agree, although Sean Connery wasn't that bad either.

Wasn't that bad? Connery is, and will always be the James Bond.

I liked Brosnan too; both his acting and especially the films he was in...but I just think Craig brings a certain level of intensity to 007 that hasn't really been explored yet and I like the direction they seem to be taking him in.

I hope we can all at least agree that Moore sits at the bottom of the list (with the exceptions of Lazenby and Dalton of course; Lazenby, who only did one movie for obvious reasons, and Dalton for trying make Bond into a more "believable" character...fail).

I agree with this, I think Pierce was more credible. But I don't mind Craig, the movies he's playing Bond are good too, but that's my opinion ^.^

I personally enjoy Craig as Bond. I don't mind waiting I guess as long as it's as good as Casino Royale.

I hate Craig as Bond. Brosnan FTW. Quantum of solace was pretty bad, i cant even remember any scenes in it, but casino royale was good.

Q wasn't removed, he died. Bit of a difference.

Q never died, Desmond Llewelyn did. Bit of a difference.

This particular news item pissed me off, as even though Quantum of Solace was terrible, Casino Royale was the best Bond film since Goldeneye, which was Brosnan's only good Bond film, the rest were too Sci-Fi, with all the bullshit gadgets...

I don't think Quantum was bad but it definitely didn't have much of a plot.

The last three or four bond films have been rather pants, and thats coming from a mega fan here. I hope this time in limbo is being used wisely and getting a great script sorted and also some truely great action scenes like the bonds used to have.

I agree about Quantum of Solace just not quite Bond enough for me. Had great action scenes and that was about it. What happened to all of the spy work? What happened to all of Bond's cool gadgets? All there was in that movie was a business card tracker.

For just a shoot 'em up I can choose from dozens of movies. I watch Bond for the action, gadgets, and interesting spy stuff. They kept the action but got rid of what made the movies truly unique.

I don't think Quantum was bad but it definitely didn't have much of a plot.

I think they ran out of plots for new James Bond movies. I mean what happened to James saving the world and such. but in Quantum it was about a water supply for ONE COUNTRY?? seriously?

hahaha i had to rent Quantum to finish the movie cuz after i watched the scene where Bond's parachute barely deploys and he hits the ground and he walks away without a scratch. I laughed so hard in the theater and walked out haha

HAHA Iconoclast... I thought Roger Moore was the best James Bond! Moonraker and The Spy who Loved Me were my fav Bond movies. Moore was such a pimp haha

Don't get me wrong; I like a lot of the movies Moore starred in...I just feel as though he doesn't portray the Bond character as well as the others. I really liked Moonraker too, as well as The Man With The Golden Gun and For Your Eyes Only, but a number of them were good :)

I was never into Bond as a kid (back when Brosnan was playing the character), although I rather like Daniel Craig as 007.

Casino Royale was great, Quantum of Solace was shit on a stick, but remember it's not bad because of the actor.

I really don't know where they're going with the story following QoS but they basically need a miracle to revive it, so take all the time you need.

I actually rather liked Quantum of Solace, it wasn't as good as Casino Royale, but still I enjoyed it
