Director Christopher Nolan (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/910/910810.html) and his director of photography Wally Pfister are mulling shooting all of Batman 3 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/961/961205.html) in either 3D or IMAX.

Cinematical (http://www.cinematical.com/2010/04/20/wally-pfister-talks-about-shooting-batman-3-in-3-d/)'s Todd Gilchrist (yes, folks, former IGN-er Todd Gilchrist) chatted with Pfister last week at a Dallas Film Society awards ceremony, during which time the Oscar-nominated cinematographer talked up the visual game plan for the highly anticipated sequel to The Dark Knight.

"What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting," Pfister told the site. "[Director] Brad Bird (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/915/915565.html) was [saying] 'you've got to shoot the whole thing in IMAX!' I was like, yeah, I've talked to Chris about that." Pfister believes, though, that the camera technology required to shoot an entire movie in IMAX may be too difficult to pull off.

Pfister also said the idea of shooting Batman 3 in the suddenly popular 3D format is under consideration. "I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3-D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around," said Pfister. He added that one thing that is certain about Batman 3 is that it will be shot on film and not video.

I could careless about anything right now other than two things. Two most important things about the Batman 3.

1. Is Mr. Nolan coming back to direct this with his wife (producer) and his brother (S-Play)? I believe one of the great success of the movie was because of this team.

2. When the heck is estimated release date? If I am in Army, I have to make schedule for this. :p

I am fine with IMAX. In fact The Dark Night was the first IMAX movie I ever saw that wasn't about elephants or something. But 3D is over rater IMO. I do not see what the big deal is. It actually made me kind of sick when I saw Avatar. I hope the fad passes.

Oh yes, I read this article when you posted it - thank you, by the way - but completely forgot about it. :p Looks like Mr. Nolan's wife is coming back, but news about his brother is unknown....

Wonder's who'll be the villain. The last villain in the last film of the great superhero movie.

3D is way overated! but IMAX would be awesome for the next batman and the last one (The Dark Knight). I only watched one movie in IMAX (Spiderman 3...i think) I live hours from the closest IMAX so i dont see much.

I dont wonna see any more blockbusters in 3D..
From what ive seen with the recent 3d films, the new 3d is a lot better than the old 3d. But you lose alot of the small details. I would rather see a film in normal 2d than the gimmicky 3d

QFT.

If I had a choice, I'd much rather see a movie in 2D as well. Take Clash of the Titans, for example. They just threw it in 3D to gain a few extra bucks, which I thought was stupid. There was hardly any 3D aspect to it.

If anything, I think Animated movies should stick to the whole 3D thing. How to Train Your Dragons and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs were good in 3D.

Definitely, the only time I was hooked on 3D was when I was watching the trailers for all of the 3D animated movies... And then Clash of the Titans came on...

I'm glad to see that many people here do not like 3D. I personally think 3D sucks as it just gets really annoying and hurts my eyes after a while, And most of the 3D blows or is not cool at all.

So I hope no 3D for Batman or I be pissed the whole time I see it.
