Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916364.html) has revealed some key details about Avatar 2 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/065/065569.html).

"We created a broad canvas for the environment of (the first Avatar (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/800/800318.html)). That's not just on Pandora, but throughout the Alpha Centauri AB system. And we expand out across that system and incorporate more into the story not necessarily in the second film, but more toward a third film," he told The Los Angeles Times (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2010/04/james-cameron-talks-the-enironment-the-avatar-sequel-and-more.html).

The writer-director revealed, "Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment a different setting within Pandora. And I'm going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won't be a rain forest. I'm not saying we won't see what we've already seen; we'll see more of that as well."

Cameron said last month that although he has yet to seal a deal with Fox (http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1632147/story.jhtml) for a sequel, "everyone's highly motivated" to make one. (Yeah, a $$2,712,115,019 billion dollar worldwide gross (http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/) to date has a tendency to motivate studios.) Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are already signed to reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri, respectively.

Avatar had to be one of the most brilliant movies i have ever seen. A second movie will definitely be one to watch for i reckon.

I just recently saw this at the cheap show a few days ago for the first time, and I must say, I thought people were overreacting, but it was a phenomenal movie! Would love to see a sequel!

I just hope it doesn't ruin what Avatar created.
But with the same special effects and big name actors then I'm sure it can't go wrong. ;)

I was thinking the exact same thing
lets hope it dosent go like this

Avatar 1 - Modern warfare

Avatar 2 - Modern warfare 2

not saying modern warfare 2 is awful but for alot of people it was to much hype for nothing special

So true...

It's was like a remake of Pocahontas on another planet, didn't see the big deal. The movie was mediocre but it was the only movie I did like in 3D mostly because it wasn't really in there, it was just subtle for the most part.

The original was an amazing movie, but we don't need a sequel. I have faith in Cameron's ability to make amazing sequels, so I guess he is let off the hook.
