Universal Pictures has reportedly tapped Nicholas Stoller (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/142/14242698.html) (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to The Greek) to rewrite the script for its upcoming toy-to-film Stretch Armstrong (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/034/034254.html), which will star Twilight's Taylor Lautner (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/142/14268820.html) in the title role as the pliable hero.

According to The Los Angeles Times (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movies/2010/04/taylor-lautner-stretch-armstrong-nicholas-stoller-rob-letterman.html), Stoller will revise Steve Oedekerk's original draft for Imagine and Hasbro. Furthermore, the paper reports that Rob Letterman (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/143/14331262.html) (Monsters vs. Aliens) will direct.

Stretch Armstrong is based on the iconic action figure made popular around the world beginning in the 1970s and re-launched in the 1990s. Academy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, American Gangster) will team with Hasbro to bring Stretch Armstrong to life. The 3D superhero adventure will be released spring 2012.

Taylor Lautner? Really? They could have picked someone so much better to fit the part of Stretch - unless it's going to be animated, then it'll be alright. I guess we'll have to see how this plays out. It'll be interesting to see.

Man, I think I still have my toy somewhere around the house, but I'll have to dig pretty deep to find it. I also had his sidekick Fetch Armstrong.

Would love to see this!

I wish someone would make a Thundercats movie already, or Visionaries.
