View Full Version : My Xbox just ate my game

Ok, so I was putting in a game disc into my console. Close the tray.
Then it starts to try to read it by making an unusual high pitched noise for 1 second. Then while still on the NXE menu, it acts as there's nothing in there with the option to Open Tray.
So I open the tray, and magic! There's no disc in there.

I've tried to locate where it is with a flashlight, but I can't see it anywhere.

Strange thing is that I tried putting another game in and it starts that up like nothing happened.
I tried lodging a disc in there with a string so I can retrieve it so there's not 2 discs in there, but the thing is there's nowhere for the disc to go!

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yea, it's weird. I'm gonna call Microsoft and see if I can get it fixed for free even though it's out of warranty... $60 for a replacement disc wouldn't hurt, haha.

Your game disc stuck on the "Ring Boot", check underneath of "top" area. (your disc still in the upper area that when you closing the disc drawer, the "Ring Boot" goes down to the disc's ring and it's stuck that would not play it.)

I would advise you, if you need to get the disc out of the "Ring Boot" that would be break.. I recommend you send the xbox to the repair center.

Holy shield, I never heard such.... wow, speechless. Better go pat on my xbox, and tell it how good it is, so it won't eat my games.

If the Xbox 360 is lying horizontally, I don't see how it is physically possible for the disc to go anywhere. I mean, isn't the disc spinning inside the inner circle where the disc is kept inside? I don't know how this whole things work, but based on what I see, isn't that how it work? Anyway, holy shield....

Sorry, but that's so funny.
I hadn't heard of anything like this before, so I was just expecting you to say about how you put a disc in and the Xbox made it unreadable. Not that the Xbox actually made a disc vanish.

Here's hoping you get it fixed out.

My brother had this happen to his 360. I opened it up for him and the disc was lodged where it didn't belong. I'd recommend that you open yours up, it's really easy and it will save you from sending it to Microsoft.

Or it could completely destroy the console if they don't know what they're doing. <_<

Anywho, I think I'll just leave this here...

Happened to me once when I took a fit with Jumper and punched the tray whilst it was open with Jumper in. The disc got lodged inside. Eject it and the tray came out, no disc. Opened it up and took the drive apart and got my disc back. No harm done, seriously.

Disc was fine as was the disc drive. As for punching the drive because of Jumper. You know a 2 hour 1000? Yeah it took me fucking 5 play throughs because I kept dying but not going to the dash in time. On the 4th attempt I lost my temper completely.

Lifesaver! Never thought anything could get stuck up there.
Headed over to Walmart to buy be a Torx 10 screwdriver. Dismantled the Xbox and the disc drive to remove it.
Now if my Xbox ever decides to RROD on me, I'll be more than ready to install heat sinks.

Going by the laws of what goes in, must come out...
I'm guessing your xbox will crap it out eventually.

Seriously though, that's so unlucky. I'd also like to know what game it was?

Case solved already.

It tried to munch on Modern Warfare 2 for some reason. I guess it got tired of spinning the same disc 2-4 hours a day...

If you are going to be spending that much time everyday on a game, install it to your HDD

My friend did something similar. He was taking his Xbox round to my house for some system-link action, and he didn't take the disc out before moving it. He opened the tray - disc lost forever.

Not possible as its a sealed drive you sure you put a disc in it and what game was it.
