On Achievements, I mean. Was it when that first one popped or did it happen later, and if so what lead to it?

For me it was about 2-3 months after first getting my 360. I had finished my first batch of games and was looking for something new. Among the new titles I picked up, I grabbed a copy of The Simpsons Game. Some of the Achievements were funny, like pressing start for 5 points, which got me curious about other games with interesting/weird ones. From there I started trying out lots of new games and somewhere along the way I found myself addicted.

Yay 100th post! And just in time for my soon to be 100k+ gamerscore.

well it was some time in 08 i got interested in achievements and played avatar:eek: but i didnt get serious about them until the later months of 09, i set a goal to be at 40k by the end of 09. I hit it and exceeded my goal by 2k. i then started thinking that my goal should be get to 100k this year. Doing well i would say

when i first got my 360 (back in novemeber of 2006) i got my first few achievements in COD 3 and GOW 1, it used to be a cheap thrill, untill i started aiming to get just that one achievement. it grew into an addiction... next thing i know, i was playing games like lost and avatar...

I think I got interested in the achievements when I bought Assassin's Creed. DMC4 was my first 360 game and I didn't care for the achievements at all, also because I didn't see the point of going online with the console. The achievements for AC weren't too difficult so I decided to give it a try.

Nearly 2 years since I bought my 360, I still don't consider myself to be an achievement fanatic, but I usually check the guides here to see what achievements I can pick up on the way.

Played prolly 20 or so games without ever really taking notice of the achievement system, but when I was playing through Bully: SE, I happened to notice that I'd acquired most of them already, so looked up what was required for the others, got them, been hooked since.

Well first I didn't even know what achievements were. I got the pop-up message and I was like what...ok w/e and I even had Overkill in Halo 3 and I was wondering why I didn't get the Killing Frenzy because I didn't understand the part has to be done in Ranked FFA. I did browse played games from friends though and I saw some who had all those completed 1K games and I wanted to get that too.

Quite recently actually, I decided to go through my older games and get as much g as I can on them. So I tend to get the new releases a while after when the price falls, unless they're must buys.

Assassin's Creed and COD:WaW

Assassin's Creed was where I first really noticed it. That sing song sound when you accomplish something like collecting a flag or take down a target, coupled with the achievement popping sound at the same time....was like crack. Crack I tell you!

Before then I'd already played quite a few games and never even noticed they were even there.

Then came the fun ones from COD:WaW. Sniping the general with a pistol, 7 kills with 5 bullets without reloading and taking out 10 guys in the subway with the lights off...all sounded fun as hell and were. Got me into the habit of going back into games after finishing them and seeing what else I can do.

They've actually made me challenge myself to play differently than my normally mediocre tactics, try games on harder levels and see how I fare.

It's been all downhill since looking for fun achievements to do.

My buddy got a 360 first back in February 2006 and we got Perfect Dark, Fight Night Round 3 & Call of Duty 2. After I played COD2 and FNR3, I HAD to get a 360. A few months of saving and I got mine late April 06.....I think it was when I beat COD2 on normal I noticed the achievements and then I noticed I only had like 300/1000. I was like, "huh?? I didn't finish it??" I then played it on the hardest difficulty for the achievements and it felt really, really satisfying to have them on my gamercard showing that I beat the game on the hardest difficulty. A sense of accomplishment I guess. That's when I was hooked :)

I became hooked the second day i had my 360. I got one of the first 360's released and i completed Oblivion in like 5 days. I started on Dead Rising next but a storm took out my system and it took me a long time to get a new system.

Probably around when I first got Xbox Live back in March 2007. I didn't care much about achievements before then. But once I got Live and started playing Gears of War online, I just became addicted to trying to get all the weapon achievements and what not as well as trying to have more G/S than my friends.

I've sort of settled down since then. I used to be pretty mad when I couldn't get achievement before. Now, I accept the fact that there are achievements out there that I will never get. I still like getting achievements though.

for me, it didn't come until about 6 months ago....roughly 3 years after picking up my first X360. I bought Borderlands, and met a new friend. This guy had like 88,000 GS then, and within a few weeks he picked it up to like 95,000. Now he is almost to 105,000 GS, and it just make me sick. He's been on XBL less than a year too, its crazy!! But yea, he made me, lol!!!

It pretty much started right when I got the Xbox 360. I got it right around launch and my first games was Call of Duty 2, then Perfect Dark: Zero, then Condemned: Criminal Origins. I originally was going to just go for beating every game that I put in my 360, and that caused my achievement score to raise, which in turn caused me to hunt for achievements for the longest time. I remember logging about 10,000,000 hours of PDZ with one of my best buddies. Good times!

I think it started when the topic of achievements came up in random conversation between friends. One of them just said [Bragging] 'So err, I've got the most gamerscore out of all of us'. From the moment he said that a little friendly competition began over who could get the most gamerscore ;)

I'm not addicted, that's just when I started trying to get achievements.

Well I thought they were really awesome about 2 years before I had an Xbox. So when I got one about 6 months ago, I thought I'd want a bunch, but never knew how far it was going to go. In the last week and a half I've got about 2500 new gamerscore, and about 3 days of that I wasn't doing anything but playing Halo Reach Beta. Now, my score is probably going to go up really fast...

I'd say I became hooked on achievements about I week or so after I bought my 360, when I decided to play Call of Duty 4 on veteran for the achievements. I was so determined to get all the achievements, and after about 100 or so attempts at Mile High Club, I finally unlocked the last achievement. The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction I got from that meant that I was hooked on achievements from then on.

Since then I have always tried to get as many achievements as I can on every game I play, and it always makes me smile when that 'Achievement Unlocked' message pops up.

When I beat Need For Speed: Most Wanted and figured out that it actually was possible to get 1000 points for games without doing idiotic and mundane tasks I started to get into it. I'm more of a person who goes after 1000/1000 or 200/200 or whatever on every game I play then a get a big as possible achievement score.

Just the thought of being able to have something to shoot for besides gameplay. It adds a lot of replay value in my opinion and causes me to explore the game thoroughly.

I guess it started with Oblivion, when I explored all of the different guilds.

When I first got my 360 and played Fable II I remember the achievements popping up and I had no idea what the point of them were. But than once I got my internet hooked up to the 360 and I started playing Halo 3 online with a friend, that's when they caught my attention.

And let me just point out that i'm not "obsessed" with getting achievements, but I like to go for them. But I don't go far out of my way to get one though.

For me it happened somewhere between playing Tetris Evolution and Crackdown back in March of 2007. By the time I wrapped up the DLC achievements for Crackdown, I was curious if some games had easier achievements than others. So I went on Easy360achievements.com and found Madden '06 with a detailed step-by-step map on how to get all 1000gs in less than a day. After that I found my new non-narcotic addiction.

It wasn't until I got online with my 360 (I couldn't at first in my old apartment) that I really became interested in them; in addition, I became very obsessed with Oblivion after getting my 360 and spent a ton of time on it just messing around. My score is still very low, and I don't go too far out of my way for achievements (only try for reasonable ones) but addicted to them now and very interested in increasing it!

The first time i saw one unlocked i was playing at a friends house and we were playing nhl 2k7 and he unlocked it. We were all sitting there like what was that and curious. So we looked online and at the gamer profile and realized the score went up and my friends were pumped about the thought of achievements. I on the other hand wasnt as excited i was more like whatever lets just keep playing. Soon time passed and we all got perfect dark to play online together and i ended up unlocking several online achievements during the game and it felt like an accomplishment getting it for beating actual ppl online and then it was all over for me lol

For a while I honestly didn't care much for Achievements until a little over a year ago.

I got my first 360 about 3-4 years back, and played just fine for about two years. Whenever I got an achievement it was cool, but I didn't strive to get any. Then, the inevitable happened, my 360 started overheating and I gave it to a friend because he fixed it up, put lights in it with a cool clear skin.

I got a new one in January 2009 and I started a new account(The one I have now) the first game I put in it was Halo 3. I played the Campaign and did the score achievements etc and I really liked trying to get them all. So it really just went from there. I put in Oblivion and 100d that and I kept going.

To this day, I refuse to buy/rent a game just for the points. It has to be at least a 6/10 for me to play it. Regardless of how easy the achievements are.

I do hope they mean a bit more with the next console. I know, they are really just for braggin' rights or w/e... But it would be nice to be rewarded more than just a number next to your name. I feel like a day would come when I will just stop caring about getting them.

I became hooked on achievements when I started playing on the xbox through my boyfriend's account. I've always been a fan of collecting things and the system of collecting virtual points intrigued me. I helped him collect a couple dozen achievements when I realized that I should be spending the time collecting my own. Now I'm furiously trying to catch up to his gamer score though my account is only a year old.

I've always been a completionist freak, felt the need to 100% any game I've played. Back before achievements this meant that I'd even go about fully completing the GTAs.

So I guess that means from Christmas 2007 when I got my Xbox :p Although I never really started boosting until I played Shadowrun and got to know about this site through a few people I was playing with on there. Didn't even know what boosting was until they mentioned it ;)

Was hooked from the start, first game was Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Was such a fan of the series I had to do it all. Felt nice to have something list your accomplishments.

I've always been interested in them, have only hunted them probably since December 09.

Gears 1 started it for me. Though the game I still have to work on is Dead Rising. Got quite a # of them but still need the 5 and 7 days suvivor and a few escort ones. That game is addictive.

Quite recently actually, I decided to go through my older games and get as much g as I can on them. So I tend to get the new releases a while after when the price falls, unless they're must buys.

Yeah, same thing for me. Lately I've been going back and playing my old games to get the 100% completion on the achievements. It seems to add an extra level of difficulty to the games I have in addition to adding to the replay-ability of all the games I have.

Sometime at the end of last year. I never cared about achievements until I came from World of Warcraft, had been playing for years, got bored and started on my xbox again.
I looked through my old games and started collecting achievements and score :)

when i first got my 360 (back in novemeber of 2006) i got my first few achievements in COD 3 and GOW 1, it used to be a cheap thrill, untill i started aiming to get just that one achievement. it grew into an addiction... next thing i know, i was playing games like lost and avatar...

same here lol but Lost omg the one level where you have to go past the black smoke or whatever was soooo hard.

From day one of getting my Xbox. Although it's a habit I hate, I never play games for fun anymore, it's all about achievements. I just wish I didn't have to see my completion rate every 5 minutes :(

Tbh at first I didnt care so much for them so Ive end up with 4-5 games that I hardly have any at all in but they are good games so now Im replaying them just for the achievments.

But since Resident Evil 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Alan Wake and Read Dead Redemption Im more into it, to get as many as possible on first playthrough without spoiling the gameplay and fun. Then when I aint got much else to play like now untill Alan Wake DLC gets out Im getting abck to the games and do the achievment thats not too much pain in the ass ;)

I became hooked when I first discovered this site. This was around early 2007 when I didnt have a clue about achievements. I came onto this site and realised there was a whole world for achievements and how to get them. From then I became addidcted. Ever since Ive been off LIVE, I havent been getting much as I used but it just makes me want to get back on Live again.

I think for me it was when I realised I'd had a 360 longer than most of my mates, yet had a lower score than them, then I became competitive, now I'm the "fag" for having a higher score than them, time well spent :P

Before I even owned a 360 I liked the idea. Saw them while playing friends 360s and was very interested, one of the reasons I decided to buy one was for achievements.

I was hooked as soon as I got my first achievement. I got Gears of War when I bought the console, and I remember reloading my gun during the prison breakout and hearing the famous blee-boop. I unlocked "Zen and the Art Part 2". That was my gateway achievement!!!

A few summers ago my friend and I started playing Crackdown in co-op almost every day, and the more achievements we unlocked the more I enjoyed the feeling of completing each part of a game: from there I was "hooked" (but not addicted ;))!

Since I first played Kameo when 360 came out. I played on a friend of mines xbox that he won from the mountain dew give away. I didnt own an xbox until 2 years later but always knew I wanted one. The combination of the Lost Odyssey tv spot/White Rabbit and I couldnt pass it up.

The moment I got my 1st 100% completion, I then started borrowing easy 1000's, going on to complete my older games and I believe I also started using this site too.

However, achievement hunting comes with a price for me, the moment I 1000+ a game I lose all motivation to play it again until more DLC comes out, both Single Player and Multiplayer. :(
