Discover all of the hidden chests.

Episode 1

1. After the cabin gets pushed over the ledge. Go through the gates and shine your light on the stack of palettes ahead and it will lead you to the left and to a chest.

2. As soon as you cross the river and climb the rocks into the next part of the logging yard, you’ll see the yellow paint on the logs ahead. Follow it for your prize. It’s up a ladder, across some logs and in a shack.

3. After doing the “log puzzle” in the second part of the logging yard (after the river), there is a cabin up the slope next to the first light you encounter. Behind that cabin is another cabin with a hidden chest in.

4. After crossing through the first section of creepy wood after the 2nd logging yard, Go through the safe haven, drop down and head left(back up the hill), past the digger and it’s by the fence in the far right corner.

Episode 2

5. After passing down the second set of stairs and over the bridge on the nature trail of Elderwood Park, instead of following the path to Lover’s Peak, follow the boardwalk around to the Moonshine Cave. Inside there will be a Moonshine Cave sign.

6. After you defend Lover’s Peak and fall, turn around, down the slope towards the waterfall. There is a crate there in a little alcove.

7. After falling, crossing through the bear trap infested forest, climbing over the log, up a steep angled log and turning on a generator, you fall down a small cliff and see a plane. Walk through the plane until it tips. Then go back, run up a ramp, onto the wing and up onto the cliff for the crate.

8. After picking up the car and driving to a truck carrying logs on it in the middle of the road, there will be a cabin on the right with a crate in.

9. After fighting with the birds at the end of the chapter, there is a chest out there in the open by the well.

Episode 3

10. After getting to the safe haven (still in the cop chase – after the chopper has gone down and after you have got the torch) with the radio and the flash grenades, cross the wooden bridge by manuscript #36 and stay on the main path for a couple of ambushes. As you get further on (before you leave this section of the woods), there will be some yellow paint on a rock, follow it right to a mine with a supply chest there.

11. About halfway through episode 3 after you’ve escaped the radio station and taken the phone call from Alice. Where the path tells you to go right to your objective, go left up the hill towards a hut with a chest inside.

12. After leaving the train yard, picking up manuscript #49, there will be a fork in the path, right to Mirror Peak, left up to a mine shaft and a broken bridge with a coffee thermos on top. In the mine shaft you will find treasure #11.

13. After crossing the ghost town, defeating the steam engine and climbing the two sets of ladders out the back, there is a chest the opposite way to Mirror Peak. Shine the torch and then follow the arrows.

14. After crossing the suspension bridge, there is a chest on the left behind the big rock.

Episode 4

15. Mid way through the gardens in episode 4 is a section with a small water feature on the left and a safe haven on the right (after the can pyramid #7 & manuscript #63). Straight ahead, before you go left, there is the yellow paint. Follow it left across the cliff face for your reward.

16. In the basement of the cabin, after you speak to the drunk and kill Danny, about half way on the way to the Anderson farm.

20. Opposite the paint jobs/garage building on the street mentioned above will be a “Fresh Seafood: Fish & Shrimp” building opposite. Follow it round to the left and up the stairs. Be careful, it’s a bit of an ambush on the way there.

21. Upstairs and on the first floor inside the Town Hall. Through a door and watch out for the Taken.

22. When you leave the bookstore, it’s inside a small building on the left.

23. As soon as you drop down into the transformer yard, there is a hidden chest directly left. Right in the corner.

24. After crossing the rotating bridge and getting assistance from the chopper. After it leaves, in the far right corner there is a chest.

25. After meeting up with Barry and Sarah after seeing Weaver in episode 5, it’s around the back of the building you battle the Taken in front of.

Episode 6

26. After getting to the first logging area on the left hand side of the road (after the Majestic sign and with a KBF FM radio sign), head left all the way down to the shadowy hut at the end. There is a chest inside.

27. When you veer off after the second tunnel on to the dirt road, before you open the gate, head around the back of the large building on the left for your next chest. Building has a “Larsen’s” and a “Auto Salvage and Used Parts” sign on top of it.

28. After leaving the scrap yard in the vehicle and making it up to the next area, you will find a broken bridge and a small hut next to it. The chest is inside.

29. After the mine cart ride, instead of going up the ladder, head down in to the right hand corner of the area underneath the walkways.

30. After climbing the stairs by the steep hill with the cargo liner in the far right corner, once you reach the top, there is a building on your right. Go in and on the right is the last chest to open.

There is one missing above, but my stats says 11. Will try and find out which one it is... I’m assuming it must be a story one since I’ve been pretty vigilant with this guide... If you know, please let me know. I have left off any that don't count stats wise (NY flashback, police radios, etc).

29. As you get out of the woods after the mill, there is a trailer park. Before you enter it, there is a thermos on the bench.

30. After getting in the car and busting through the gates, instead of heading towards Wheeler, head the other way (right) and get the thermos in front of the barricade.

31. After getting to the blocked tunnel, just on the left side of a stack of tree logs is a picnic bench with a thermos on top. It's on the main road. Do not head up the hill/across the parking lot to Barry.

Episode 3

32. On a picnic bench at the end of the lot, by the boat that fell out the sky.

33. There is one on the kitchen counter in Rose’s kitchen.

34. After the chase scene in the forest, there is a thermos inside the first guard post/lookout tower at the end of the high path after the chopper crash.

35. In between the generator and the spotlight just after 34 is a thermos on a rock.

36. Underneath the billboards outside the radio station.

37. After leaving the radio station and activating the generator by the safe haven further into the forest, bear right, hug the cliff and then follow it up the winding road towards the radio mast. Half way up there will be a coffee thermos on the cliff edge overlooking the radio station you’ve just left.

38. After #37 (and the manuscript at the radio mast), head on towards the objective. Not long after the original safe haven, you will come across a shack with three lights surrounding it. Defeat the Taken that ambush you and then push on to your objective. Not far on from the aforementioned shack is another shack on the right of the track with a coffee thermos in it.

39. After crossing the bridge and dropping into the railway yard underneath the water tower, there is a thermos to your right up a ramp in the corner.

40. After defeating the bulldozer and opening the next gate, in the first bay is a thermos.

41. At the beginning of the daytime section, if you drive down the road, then when it turns to gravel and is about to take you under a bridge, stop. Get out and run up the hill to the right to the cliff-edge. Look for the red seat and it’s sat on top of it.

42. Just to the right of the main entrance into the coal mine (in the day time, sometime after #40), there will be a mine entrance with a thermos tucked away in the corner.

43. After the cutscene inside the coal mine building – where day changes to night – there will be a thermos downstairs.

44. In the top room of the building where you de-electrify the fence outside in the train yard. You know, the one with tons of beasties!

45. After leaving the train yard, picking up manuscript #48, there will be a fork in the path, right to Mirror Peak, left up to a mine shaft and a broken bridge with a coffee thermos on top.

46. After crossing the bridge, you’ll be given two ways to get to Mirror Peak – there is a small lake in the middle. Whichever way you go, make sure you do a full lap and you’ll come across a fairly big red cabin with a coffee thermos in and plenty of supplies. I’d recommend going left... you can even see it on the horizon slightly.

47. Inside the last red building on the right inside the first bit of the area Alan likes to call the “ghost town.” It’s incidentally across a bridge after the graveyard.

48. After fighting the poltergeist ridden steam train, there is a hut with a key in it for the building with the locked door. Behind that building is a thermos.

49. When in the mines, having reached the open area where the roof caves in on your path out and the Taken charges through the wood. Despatch them and follow the route down, just around the corner there will be a left turn with a thermos in it.

50. Across the other side and on the left, on the cliff edge, after going across the huge suspension bridge.

51. After fighting through the ruins of the large building – where the floor falls through, there is a thermos round by the back gate, before heading down the hill to the objective.

Episode 4

52. In the downstairs lobby of the lodge. The first room after talking to Hartman on the balcony.

53. Follow the stairs up from #51 and there is one on the opposite balcony to the generator.

54. Behind Barry on the window sill when you first meet him and subsequently rescue him.

55. After exiting the lodge, stay on the stone path, go right and follow it to the wrought iron gate and it’ll be on the left at the end.

56. On the gazebo outside when you meet the dark presence controlled orderly.

57. After navigating the small water feature, climbing the steps and coming to a safe haven, there is a thermos directly ahead. There are a couple of small tables, some plants and supplies here.

58. At the end of a small elevated wooden platform on the way to the Anderson farm. It is protected by two barrels... and you have no torch. There are steps to get to it, or you could use the walkway from the mine.

59. At a small camp site with tents, by a heavy duty flashlight.

60. After avoiding the bear traps on the main path, you will come to a ruined building with a generator outside. There is one on the window sill on the first floor.

61. In the kitchen of the cabin that the truck was parked outside – the one with the guy screaming upstairs.

62. Just down the road slightly after getting in the car, on the right hand side, just in front of a tractor.

63. After following the road on to the t-junction. Straight on leads to a house, right leads towards the objective. Head right and you’ll see a tractor on your right a short way down. The thermos is on a stump by the tractor.

64. On the side where Barry is doing the pyrotechnics at the stage defence section.

65. On the bleachers (seating) area of the Anderson’s rock arena.

66. In the far right corner of the Anderson’s barn. Ground floor.

67. After entering the silo and climbing it. On the second floor a big guy will jump out. Defeat him and grab the thermos behind him.

68. Once inside the Anderson’s house, there is on in the first door on the right.

69. Then there is one inside the Anderson’s kitchen.

Episode 5

70. Behind the reception in the police station.

71. After dropping into the street, clearing the van and the Taken posse that emerge. At the next piece of road a float will fly past. Head straight over the road and on a ledge on the decking, there will be a thermos.

72. Behind the till on the floor in the Bright Falls diner, at the end of the main street with the possessed float.

73. When Sheriff Breaker goes, “over here, quick, there’s light,” head straight on to the end of the road and there is a thermos at the end of the street. By some flare gun ammo. Incidentally, this is still the same road as the float street above, but you’ve had to detour to get back on track.

74. After you defend the gate, beat Mr Chainsaw Taken and go through the gate, it’s on the BBQ on the left.

75. Inside the Major’s office inside the Town Hall, there is a thermos in his tiny little kitchen.

76. Come out the park, across the road into the bookstore and the thermos is directly on the right as you walk through the door.

77. When you come out the bookstore and head through the gate where the children’s playground is. On the right, in the sandpit, is the next thermos.

78. In the far right corner of the church crypt.

79. In the far left corner of the fire station parking lot – where the helicopter pad is.

80. As soon as Wake falls out the chopper, there is a thermos on the right in the big open yard.

81. In the first building, when you hit the radio that plays “Poet of the Falls” and the ambush begins, there is a thermos in one of the cylindrical pipes on the way out.

82. As you approach the end of the transformer yard area, after being ambushed by two of the big Taken beasties, go down the couple of stone steps to the objective and look right for the thermos.

83. When you come to the bridge, just near the river bank, where the control room is, there is a thermos just outside.

84. After crossing the rotating bridge in episode 5, in the control room on the left as you get off, you’ll find a coffee thermos.

85. After Alan mentions something about recognising the UV painted signs, drop down. Then in the far left corner, by a fence and a security guard booth (with camera), there is a thermos there.

86. In Miss Weaver’s little living quarters within the confines of the power plant.

87. Inside the huge piece of pipe to the left of the elevator.

88. As soon as you come out the elevator – that you and Sarah and Barry wait for – you’ll see it on the edge of the cliff to your right.

89. In the closing moments of episode 5, Alan will be chased by a tornado and will have to outrun it and get to the Well Lit-Room. When you head inside and down a spiral staircase, there will be one in the racking as you reach the bottom.

Episode 6

90. As soon as you get on to the main road, after the NYC flashback, there is a thermos on the bench right next to you.

91. Slightly further down the road from the logging area and before the first tunnel, there is a barn on the left. On the left hand side of it is a thermos.

92. At the Majestic, inside the lobby’s small toilet there is a thermos.

93. After the poltergeist bridge, you’ll come to a field with a poltergeist ridden truck and plenty of Taken. On the hill slightly to the left, there is a large barn that glows. Just beyond that, towards the objective (but in the same area), there is a house with a thermos on the porch.

94. When you veer off after the second tunnel on to the dirt road, before you open the gate at the top of the hill. In the building that has a “Larsen’s” and a “Auto Salvage and Used Parts” sign on top of it, there is thermos inside on the ground floor.

95. After opening the scrap yard gate, don’t go over the ramp at the top of the hill, instead, get out, head right and pick up the thermos on the stack of pallets.

96. When in the level’s ghost town-esque area, in the second building on the right, with “Holloway & Co” on the sign outside, the thermos is inside.

97. After the mine cart ride, climb the ladder, push the mine cart, make the jump and walk to the end of the walkway. Before you head right. There is one straight ahead. Not very visible, but it’s there.

98. In the middle of the area where stuff is falling from the sky and you have the stealth-tastic Taken whizzing around, you’ll come to a train trailer in the middle of the yard and it’s in there.

99. After climbing the steep hill with the huge cargo liner in the top right corner, climbing the wooden steps and then entering the building and dropping into the next ghost town, there is a battered silo of some sort to your left. There is a thermos behind it.

100. After getting the clicker and talking to Zane, there is a thermos behind the first couch on the right. Shine the light on the word thermos to make it appear.

19. Outside the doors to where you talk to Weaver – “WARNING – this decommissioned site...”

20. “Floodgate controls” sign – where the... you guessed it, floodgates are – can’t miss it, there is a series of three buttons there.

21. When you have to hold the door open for Barry and Sheriff Breaker, there is a “NOTICE” to the right of the button – after you exit the elevator.

Episode 6

22. After getting in the car and driving across the bridge to the first roadside opening, with cars, benches and toilets, there is a huge sign there for the “Majestic Hotel.”

23. Actually at the Majestic (night time scene), there is a general information board in the lobby.

Hey, thanks for all your hard work -small request though (yea, I do realize this is a WIP) - any chance of breaking them down into each different section of each chapter? Kind of like a choronological guide? Looks like you have done that in some places but a master list of sorts would be awesome. It would be great if I could go to chaper 4 section 2 (for example) and know exactly what order the collecitbles will come in.

If it's the sixth one (at the very end of the list), then it's at the end of the straight road (that you're following the entire time) in a tunnel, before you turn off up a hill and have to go into a building to open a gate. I think it's after the schoolbus tumbles down the road, though my memory might be a bit off.

Listen to all of the radio shows.

I've found one not listed here (but I don't know if it counts to the achievement...)

The one I found is at the flashback that sets Alan in New York three year before, where you find the manuscript pages "The Sudden Stop 1 & 2". In your list it should appear between:

[2. After doing the “log puzzle” in the second part of the logging yard (after the river), there is a cabin up the slope near the light. There is a radio inside.

HERE

3. As you get outside the police station at the beginning of chapter 2, via the cells, there will be a radio straight ahead.]

The radio is actualy behind a closed door (that can be opened, of course), at what's supposed to be Wake/Alice's room, next to the bed. To get to the door, at the very begining of the flashback, as soon as you can turn right and it's the door you have in front.

Hope it helps, ^_^! Sorry if my english is not quite correct, I'm doing my best, -_-U!

EDIT: Looking at the statistics, it seems the one I mean doesn't count towards the achievement? Actually I've found 5 radio transmisions (the three first listed, the bed one and one inside the police station) and only counts 3, so I suppose some of them count and some of them doesn't. Sorry if I've mistaken you.

I might be an idiot here, but I'm at the end nearly of chapter two and am looking for these two

31. After getting to the blocked tunnel, just on the right side of a stack of tree logs is a picnic bench with a thermos on top.

32. “Wake’s Despair” – After crossing the bridge and coming to a dead end effectively, under the tunnel, that’s blocked off is a manuscript page. You’ll see it glow.

Now I crossed the bridge and went left, up the trail and to a dead end blocked by a trailer and a car. Now I know a tunnel is an underground passageway but this is the only blockage AFTER the bridge that I have come across thus far and I dont want to proceed just incase I continue up towards barry and there is no blocked tunnel.

You've gone too far. You don't need to go up the trail if I recall correctly, although one of the listings (31) should say left and not right I think. You cross the bridge and there will be a stack of logs in front of you on the left side of the road pretty much. It's on the bench there. For manuscript page 32, just follow the road after the bridge (through the blockade of objects) and there will be a tunnel that has a jackknifed truck there. It's by that. This is before going up the hill to Barry.

holy crap, there;'s over 200 collectibles.! what? well that slows the pace of the game by a alot. man idk its a rent for me. =)

All the manuscript pages add to the game, and so don't slow it at all. The coffee thermoses could be seen as slowing gameplay, but it doesn't really bother me to spend half a second picking one up.

The TV and radio shows add more to the story, or provide little entertaining bits. The chests give you extra ammo/equipment, and so are quite useful. The only other thing are signs, which only take a split second to read.

It definitely doesn't feel like a lot of collectibles, and most are along the path, and so are hard to miss.

It would definitely be a good idea to put these in some sort of order in which you pick these up per level. It's very difficult having to keep skipping through the different sections and to know in what order in the level you come across them. Other than that, nice guide.

ok great stuff atm but if u where to put all collectables in say chapter 1 together, then all the collectables in chapter 2 together instaead all lost of lists for each type, it would be easier to locate and work out, maybe easier than the way it is which at the moment is hard to follow because theres so many different type in this game

I was going to, but another game got released and I'm playing that, so to hell with the collectibles! :D

It took me a few hours to make those just for the hidden chests, and there were only 30 of them, so someone else can make them for the thermos.

I was going to make one for the can pyramids, since I found all 12 minus 1, but forget it... Thanks for the comment about the video!

Webb, I'm almost 100% certain the radio show you're unsure of is the Hartman recordings in chapter 4. A mate of mine missed out on that achievement but got all the other radios but no pop. I got it upon getting the radio at the top of the grain silo, also bringing my radio count to 11. If someone else could confirm this, that would be great but I'm pretty sure that's the one, even though it's not a radio broadcast.

There are only 11 thermoses in Episode 6. The one you are missing is in Episode 4.

It's between 62 and 63 in your guide. After you find 62, go down the road and take a right at the fork. It's about half way down that road - a fair bit off the road to the right behind another old tractor.

Great work on the guide Webb, glad to hear everything is now accounted for :) I'm on my nightmare playthrough at the moment, so not fussed about collecting yet. Although I did managed to find all the radio shows on my first playthrough, which was more than I thought I'd get :)

I'll be coming back to this when I've finished my nightmare game and on the collecting.

I think I have just found a way to check what radios you are missing. I did not see this mentioned so I thought I would help. Go into extras and then playback. Then click on radios and it lists all of the radios you have listened to.

NOTE

It lists the radios that do not count towards the achievement so I suggest that you check your statistics so you do not get confused on how many you have left.

There is one missing above, but my stats says 11. Will try and find out which one it is... I’m assuming it must be a story one since I’ve been pretty vigilant with this guide... If you know, please let me know. I have left off any that don't count stats wise (NY flashback, police radios, etc).
You are missing one in the 3rd episode. I have 5 there. The names of all of them are: Snyder's Feeling the Pressure,
Peabody Heard Gunfire,
Lorna Miles, Humanitarian,
Maine's Anger,
A Conversation About Love.
You can see the one you are missing if you go:

Which one of the 3 NM pages are you missing?

The 1st one is just after the railway bridge, where all the stuff is being thrown at you. Before you go through the chain fence, it's on the right. If you go through the fence you have go to far.

The 2nd is just before you get into the ghost town, it's on the left on a rock. You have to turn right to go into the town, if you turn left you will see the page quite easily on a rock.

The 3rd is just after the bridge in the ghost town, in a building on the right. You can see the page through a hole in the side on the building but you need to around to get access to the page.

It's just after the railway bridge. The section where your walking along the bridge and objects start getting thrown at you. After you come off the bridge there is a path going towards a chain fence, off to the left and it's slightly uphill. before going through the fence follow it along to the right and this will take you to the page.

As far as I can remember there is no car near by.

For the Nightmare Pages:

Episode 1:
1. Follow the path in the beginning until you have to walk over a tree to get to the other side of the fence. Its to the left side of the tree.

2. After crossing the river (you have to walk over some logs) you will find this on the ground.

3. You see this in the beginning when the camera is zooming to the Gas Station. Its on the backside.

Episode 2:
1. In the middle of the road that leads to you hut, when you go back to Barry.

Right, I'm missing one sign now, and I've read through the list a hundred times, and just can't figure out which one it is.

I'm certain that I've read every single sign on the list, yet I'm still missing one. Are there any that have 2+ signs to read for it to count?

The mines on Episode 3 are where I'm heading as I know they have more than 1, but are there any others?

EDIT: Oh, nevermind, I started Episode 2 again, thinking I may have missed the one in Moonshine cave, but I accidentally started from the beginning, and thought I may as well just read the 'Missing Person' poster again, knowing full well that I'd already read it once. But, as luck would have it, the achievement unlocked when I read it...

EDIT 2: Actually, it may be because there are 2 posters, one with just one man, and the other with 3 men. I think you may have to read them both.

I haven't fiddled with stuff much, but do ammo and weapons transfer between chapters? Does this game sort of play like Heavy Rain where if you load a previously played chapter it saves all your prior progress up to that point but wipes out everything after? Like... if I completed Episode 3, but replayed Episode 2 I would lose all my stuff (not collectibles but guns/ammo/batteries) if I tried to start back out on Episode 3?

I'm just trying to figure out if I can immediately replay chapters I've finished to get manuscript pages and such that I've missed or if I have to wait until a Nightmare playthrough.

Collectibles Spreadheet

I have recently created a spreadsheet from Webb's Walkthough (http://www.x360a.com/forum/showthread.php?t=227520). It tells you how many you have collected, how many you have left and generally just makes it much easier to mark off which ones you have you done. Unfortunatetly they are on different tabs which means you have to jump back and forward as you go but if you read three or four ahead on each one you shouldn't have any problems. I got all the way through and only missed one coffee thermos.

64. “Hartman Sedates Wake” - After navigating the small water feature in the gardens, climbing the steps and coming to a safe haven, there is a thermos directly ahead. There are a couple of small tables, some plants and supplies here. Head right (NOT left) and onto the small walkway to pick up the manuscript page.

I'm at that part now. Heading right takes you to barry, heading LEFT takes you to the page.. may wanna fix that. :)

Webb, I think I might have found the radio that you do not have listed.

In chapter 5, after Wake falls out of the chopper. When you shoot off the chain to get into the garage and fight off the Taken. You climb up the boxes to jump over the fence, it's right there in front of you on the green tool box before you fight another wave of Taken.

I checked my stats, and it shows I'm missing one, which is the very first one I spaced.

He is missing the radio in epsiode 3, after episode 3 you should have 9/11 radios found. I got the radio using the guys youtube video for collectibles in episode 3. The one where the poster said he missed some in episode 6, and episode 4.

Well... I'm not entirely for sure what's up then. I had 9 of 11 before I found that one in Episode 5. Picked it up and checked my stats, and it put me at 10. I'm fairly certain missed the very first one. I haven't finished the game yet, so I haven't gone back and checked.

I'm not doubting you, I just think it's a little strange, really.

There are extra radios, but you only need 11 for the achievement. My guess is they expected you to miss the one of them.

Goddamn, just finished my collectibles run and i end up with 99/100 coffee thermoses. And you cannot check in which chapter is the missing one. That was the last achievement i needed for 1k.

Maybe will start new game. Anyone know how the fuck to reset all my stats to zero? Deleted my save and clear the cache but this didn't work.

If you select a chapter via episodes, the thermos that you already got will not be there anymore. So I guess your going to have to play the game again and just do a thermo only run.

It's #22 in the game's third episode list but no idea what it is in the guide.

:edit: This may be it: 50. “Hunters Taken” – Once you enter the mine after treading the dangerous mountain path, Alice will call out Alan’s name at a junction – head left (the opposite way to the marker) and then follow it to the end, you will see it in a small gap to the right behind the big rock.

Doesn't ring a bell. Where's a video?

:edit2: Now I get it. I was playing wrong map in the same episode.

@ Webb:

I think I found the radio missing in your guide.
When I checked the radio section in my extras menu, I noticed that there are 4 (!) radio shows listed in episode four.

The one you are missing is the first one. In Hartman's clinic, after the attack of the darkness and right before you meet Barry, there's a room where you can activate a record of a phone call of Alan's wife.

This record is the first radio message listed for episode four!

Hope I could help! :)

So far the guide has been helpful when I went back to find the last four transcripts that I needed in Normal mode. Heck, one of the transcript pages that I needed was on a cart after the stage fight for the "Picking up After Yourself" achievement, also helped me to unlock the "Child of the Elder God" achievement that I needed. I didn't get it during my play through because I was at low health when the fight ended.

The thing that I'm dreading, is doing a thermos only play through because I am missing 4 of them that I didn't find on my own and I don't know in which Episode or Episodes they are in either!

Anyway, good job on the guide Webb!

Yeah, just found it out myself.
That record appears in the radio show list of the extras menu but doesn't count for the radio achievement apparently.

But meanwhile I noticed that there are five radio shows listed for episode 3 in the extras menu, but in the guide are only three shows mentioned.
Perhaps there's the missing one.

It sounds like you may of got it now? If not, here are the manuscript pages for Episode 3 in High Definition Video, made by me.

I list them by what manuscript it actually is which is more helpful when it comes down to narrowing down the ones someone may be missing and not in its own order you come across it in the game.

So the manuscript that you are missing is #58 - Hunters Taken. It is located in the mine and in Part 2 of the videos below, skip to 3:32 for the footage.

Thanks Mistical. Yes I got it now, but I'm still missing two manuscripts in episode 5 and 6. I'll keep on watching your videos. You might as well as release guide for tv shows and thermos, if you're keen on recording and releasing your own game footage. When I started playing this game I couldn't care less about collecting them all, but when I ended up with only few remaining, I'll finish them.

I can't deny that the guide wouldn't work well for others but when I watch my game's episodes and lists of them, there's simply no clear connection that I could recognize. That's why I had that confused and edited post above. Like you mentioned it probably follows the order in the game.

Are you using Hauppauge by the way?

I will be releasing video location guides for coffee thermoses, tv shows, can pyramids, radios, chests and signs. While I do have a video already done and uploaded for Episode One: Coffee Thermoses, I was told by who supplied me with the game to focus on the manuscript pages for now.

But meanwhile, I did go ahead and capture all those locations already up until partially into Episode Four and will continue to do so. I am working on a few Red Dead Redemption videos today and some of tomorrow. Then I will be back to Alan Wake, where I should have a lot completed by Tuesday.

It is confusing how Remedy decided that you would come across saying #60 and then come across #53 moments later. I get the system but it can be confusing and forces people to make their "own" guide for collecting them like I think some already have done and just put it in their own ordering system from 1 to 2 to 3 and so on when it really is #1 to #2 to #13 and back to #3 as to how you come across them in Episode One. If this at all, makes any sense.

I kept with this, just as it is in the game, as I think in the end, it is much better, especially for people that go back and realize hey, I am missing #53 from Episode Three and know exactly what Episode and Chapter it will be in.

I do not use the Hauppauge HD PVR (which I personally think is just a shitty device--not that it is not good for others). I use an Intensity Pro which I have been working with for 3 years now and capture in uncompressed footage (Yes, file sizes are large which space is no concern to me). But the end result after rendering usually is a 400MB-1GB file for me to easily upload.

I hate to say this but the other collectible guide is better cause it lists all of the collectibles in order of appearance Not put in its own sub catagory, and what is in each episode.

Webb why don't you just use the other guide since it is accurate, color coded for easy reading, and in order of appearance. This way you don't have to make a new guide. Put that in a Topic with your guide after the other. That way if people are just gunning for one collectible they can just use your guide. Or if they are going for the all they can use the other guide.

Hopefully you're overreacting a bit, because I'm getting my HD PVR in a day or two. My friend uploaded some videos for me with the device and he gave me high hopes that the picture quality will be just good for 720p/1080i if you know how to use Vegas and do exact adjustements and rendering. Not a single store here sells Blackmagic products, but I'm sure that with it's 1080p cabability it will sooner or later come in to the markets. And after all, my LCD is HD-Ready at the moment! USB 3.0 needed? Goodbye. My 360 doesn't support HDMI, so I actually got no other option than to with component and HD PVR.

:edit: I've watched videos on Youtube where the uploader has used Hauppauge's programs for other than just capturing. Then I definitely agree with you. ;)

:edit2: Intensity Pro would definitely be my future build, with Full HD LCD monitor with 360 Elite(HDMI). Thanks for advice.

ok great stuff atm but if u where to put all collectables in say chapter 1 together, then all the collectables in chapter 2 together instaead all lost of lists for each type, it would be easier to locate and work out, maybe easier than the way it is which at the moment is hard to follow because theres so many different type in this game

I agree, it would be a lot easier.

Although I can't find 24. “Nightingale’s Arrival” After going under the “Through Tree” passage and hoping the fence past the safe haven, it’s on the rock there.I pass through the tree with the hole, I pass through the bridge and finally meet the Safe Haven. Then What? The Safe Haven it gets active after I use the generator. The only manuscript I found there is a few steps forward but its not this.

Listen to all of the radio shows.

Episode 3

5. On the steps of a static trailer as you head back to your car in the opening moments of episode 3, after you and Barry blacked out.

Missing one - After the first safe haven, before turning on the flood light to destroy the gate, it's in the guard tower

6. After the police chase in episode 3, after you get the flashlight and flashbangs and make your way through the woods, there will be a safe haven with a radio next to it.

7. On the way to the coal mine in episode 3, when you’re in the car, you will go through a valley between a broken bridge. On the right will be some stairs. Climb them and the radio is in the first shack at the summit of the small hill straight ahead. There will be a car there.

8. Further up the road from #7 will be a tall, guard tower-esque cabin/lookout tower. There is a radio inside.

There is one missing above, but my stats says 11. Will try and find out which one it is... I’m assuming it must be a story one since I’ve been pretty vigilant with this guide... If you know, please let me know. I have left off any that don't count stats wise (NY flashback, police radios, etc).

Just finished off Episode 3 and saw your note at the bottom - I wondered why this one wasn't in the guide.

Episode 4

63. “Barry Attacked By a Taken” – After destroying the double gate and wheelbarrow with light in the garden, it’s further on before you go down the stairs.

65. “Walter at the Anderson Farm” – After the car crash, Alan will be alone again. Follow the path down until it opens up and then head left and it’ll be down the end of a mine shaft. Look for the glow.

Pretty sure that's meant to read - Head left (NOT right) - as heading right triggers the Taken ambush and Barry opening the gate. You can still get it, just not as easily.

I actually found 12 radios in the story. One I found that wasnt on the guide was in a tower while you are running away from the cops in episode 3. They are talking about you and how you got away. However I dont think that one counted. I actually got the achievement in episode 5 as I was making my way to turn on the transformer after the chopper crashed. Right there after you climb over the gate is a radio.

I think i know the radio your missing. In episode 2 at the start after being examined you can go out into the main hall where Cynthia Weaver is. Theres the door to the cells thats closed and locked at the time, and theres open doors just right of it. Its a police radio diretly in front of the entrance to the room. It should be blinking green.

Webb, the missing one is from when you walk into the Radio Station, in the middle of Episode 3. No offense to Webb as I am sure he is very busy and hasn't gotten around yet to a reorganized guide with pictures, but if you are someone looking for an alternative -or a supplement like me- you can go to achievement hunters where they have a 100% video guide split up into a couple of parts. I myself just ripped all the videos -for personal use only, will delete as soon as I am finished- and I plan to use this guide and those videos, -videos tend to leave out how to get there-. I haven't played the game yet but I doubt I will do this first playthrough as every guide I have seen is full of spoilers and all the searching seems like a huge boring time/fun suck. Also, Achieve hunters has a collectibles guide for signal, as well.

Thanks Webb for the roadmap and this very thorough guide :)

This guide is great since it lists ALL collectibles in the right (chronological) order. Thanks for all the hard work, it really helped me out! Note: When in doubt if I had the right location (the thermoses disappear once you pick them up) I used the pictures in the guide at IGN (http://uk.guides.ign.com/guides/743608/page_6.html). To me this is more efficient than watching a video.

Webb - Just wanted to let you know that I can confirm that at least one of the police radios counts. Which can bring your total up to 11. I have been following your guide and am now halfway through episode 3. I got the radio in the first guard tower and it raised my total to 5. Right after you get the first set of flashbangs, you get ambushed 3 times, then you get to a safe haven with another radio. I got this one and it brought my total up to 6. Which would mean that I found your missing radio from the guide. Not sure if the other police radios count, but I know that one does for sure. Thanks for the great guide too! It's really helpful!

I just started the game, but it seems if you're going through the trouble to put each list in order as you come across them in the game, just make it one big list.

This way there is only one guide to follow, and not 6 different lists.

I look forward to playing the game. I hear it's good.

Thanks for the pep talk Market. I plan to play through and get all 1000G achievements for this game anyway, but when a game has more hype, there's more determination to play it and finish it.

I just read through the roadmap and it recommends this list, and it's done as I suggested, all lists put together in order of playing through the game.

There is a color coded guide... I assume it is stickied. And that has the nightmare manuscript walkthrough on it. In the chrono order and independent.

1) Gratz for finding all Normal mode Manuscripts, Webb, but you made a bit of a mess there. Can you at least arrange them according to the gameplay manuscript list alongside with Nightmare Only Manuscripts(Point them as bold) ? That's an easy way to figure out which Manuscripts are missing, according to the in-game manuscript list. At first glance, I was confused by the list, so I had to copy-paste all to make sure if I missed any Manuscripts.
2) Can you fill the Nightmare Only manuscript list, or are you on the way to do so ? Now I'm looking for the Nightmare Only Manuscripts.
3) I have a warning for you guys as for some achievements.

a) The one with the Put de lime on the cocoon(The ones with the Jukebox achievement) - If you missed it on the first time, you can do it so as according:
At episode 1, go do your tricks with the Jukebox, as Odin Anderson asked so, meaning put it into the song 6 and later give it a punch to feel the music. Save the game, and then quit the game. You can skip it over to episode 5, where you go to look for Barry with Sheriff Breaker, and go to the same restaurant and activate the jukebox again.
b) For those, who might have lost the Thermos, you NEED to save the game, so that you won't need to search again for them. If you save the game, it automatically counts in the numbers you collected the thermos, so that you can find the rest later on.
c) The Manuscripts are being respawned, so no need to pick them up again. You can go find the missing ones with ease.

It's the one in the first Ranger Tower. That one counts towards the total. I got that one and the other ones that were listed and got the cheev.

I think you'll find that's no 8 on the list of radios on page 1 of this thread. I'm fairly sure that the missing 'radio' from the list is from the visit to the radio station. Apparently listening to the broadcast as you enter the station counts as a radio. I didn't check it as I entered the radio station, but I know that I was one over the list count by chapter 4.

If it is then it must have changed since I played through. I distinctly remember listening to one of the ranger tower radios that was not on the list, and then when I got the next one on the list I was one over. Maybe it was a later tower. But I would swear it was one of the ranger tower radios.

Fortunately I don't have to rely on my memory (it's not as good as it once was ) as I only got the achievement last night. I definitely did not turn on any radios except the ones listed in the guide. Unfortunately I wasn't religious about checking counts at every turn (result: 2 missing thermoses :() so I can't be absolutely certain where the extra was added, but it must have been story related.

I just did some hunting around and found this on gamefaqs 'Walk inside the station and walk up to Pat Maine's door. When he is finished with the caller, he'll let you in and a cutscene will begin. You'll also receive an automatic Radio (7/11) here.' (quote from the faq by AboutLastNight5)

It would be good if somebody who has yet to play episode 3 could definitely confirm that so the guide can be updated.

edit: I think I found the source of the confusion, Grimfel. I'm replaying ep. 3 (looking for 1 more missing thermos) and in the ranger tower that's on the run from the police there's a police radio that you can turn on and listen to. It doesn't count for the achievement as that's only for listening to the commercial radio shows.

Ohhhh... THAT'S the one I thought counted. Ah well, thanks for the thoroughness, even though I already got it, this will hopefully be reflected in the guide which will then help others that have this problem. Thanks ozgoon!

It would have been far more useful if you could have named the 11 radio shows that are required as not all are for this achievement. Other than that. The guide is not too bad, though a little too vague in places.

The "missing" radio from the guide is in Episode 3, and would happen sequentially between the current radios #5 and #6. It's at the very top of the first guard tower you come across.

I need some help here. My stats say I'm missing one sign, but I've already got all of them, I know. To make sure that, I re-read all of them during my nightmare mode. So could someone explain or help me, please? I'm quite near to 50 achievements, and I'd like to get all of them.

Also, could someone explain more in detail where the chest number ten is (episode 3)? I'm missing one chest and I think that's the one.

Otherwise, big thanks for the guide, was really helpful. ^_^

Annoying but spose I'll need to do another run through for all the rest of the collectables anyway.

Dead Island just came out and has a good collectable based achievement. There's 140 and you only need to get 120 for the highest achievement. Wish more games were like that.

I don't understand why people make guides like this. put EVERYTHING in order, don't break it up by achievement so we have to keep looking through them all to see which one comes up next

Finally got back to Alan Wake after my first playthrough about 1 year ago. I completed the game on normal and tried to pick up as much collectibles as I could without any guide. I managed to find all tv's and radios and also did every little achievement on the way "play it twice etc.".

I used this guide as I went through the game again on nightmare and found it actually quite easy to collect everything and complete the game at the same time. I had to give it to the maker - this guide was really easy to follow and well detailed. I only had problems at sign 24 and 25 because I didn't read it well.

Thank you !

Hi all. I'm puzzled at the Couch Potato achievement and the related guide. According to my stats, I've found 13 of 14, right? So I look down the guide and notice that one of the entries says 'radio' instead of TV and is a duplicate from the guide for the KBF-FM Achievement.

"4. After exiting the cabin in Elderwood National Park and following the winding road down to the Visitor’s Centre at night. The radio is inside the second deserted and dilapidated cabin with the shiny RV trailer to the side of it."

8 pages of congrats and no-one except me has either noticed this or missed the same TV!

Is the TV there too then?
